I haven't read the book so I don't know about that aspect. I enjoyed it and all the achievements are obtainable. I always recommend waiting for a discount, but it's only $6.
A straightforward and easy HOG based on The Great Gatsby that is entertaining for the story alone (as long as you liked the book when you were forced to read it in high school, that is)! Catch it on sale and its a great buy!
The Great Gatsby: Secret Treasure is a simple Hidden Object game with a very predictable ending. The voice acting was decent enough. The cut scenes had an illustrative quality to them and the HOG designs were pleasant and detailed. I also thought the music was fitting and the puzzles to rather simple for a relaxing, short play-through. The game starts with and summarizes much of the novel in referencing the key plot points through monologues as well as the flashback sequences brought by the time piece mechanic. There are a decent amount of locations to explore as we travel in/around the mansion, as well as use the help of Daisy's daughter to progress the story. The conflict of the kidnapping is a classic (if cheap) plot device to bring about a motivation to explore the mansion as quickly as possible. The plot is mainly convenience based, as the devs try to connect their modern plot line with the events of the novel. It's effective if simple. While the ending of this game's story is rather predictable, I don't think that takes away from its value. The achievements were easy enough for me, as I was able to 100% it within one play through. Whether some of the problems have been fixed since some of the earlier reviews or I was lucky with bugs, I'm not entirely sure lol. Overall, The Great Gatsby: Secret Treasure was a chill HOG and would be reasonable to purchase either full price or on sale, given the brevity.
The game has some downsides, but overall it was a nice game, better if you've read the book or watched the movie. If they added fast travel the game would be better.
C'est un point clic sans grands intérêts, il n'y a pas de carte interactive, les puzzles sont trop simples et le jeux est trop court. Si l'on a vraiment rien à se mettre sous la dent et encore.
Achievements - make backup saves every 15 minutes or so and do not overwrite them, because some of the achievements will not drop at first. For me, it was discovering the watchman outside. Don't skip anything or use a hint anywhere for the Expert Mode achievement. The art could be better (standard format, not widescreen) and some of the mini-games were hard. The story was pretty good and has some uniqueness in the genre.
Got a few Saturdays filled up playing this game. Beautiful artwork. Drawback--sometimes when a task is complete, hard to know what to do next, just have to randomly click around. Would have liked the epilogue to have story play.
good graphic and good game play
Um HOG de qualidade acima da média. Boa história, qualidade gráfica interessante, puzzles originais, nivel de dificuldade fácil. Diversão garantida para quem curte esse estilo de jogo.
DISCLAIMER: One of the first HOG I played. Thank goodness, right? Or I would have been turned off for life with this genre of games. Although never pay full price. STORY: Interesting – The Great Gatsby, cool, cool, cool. Atmospheric with no supernatural or fantasy elements. A bit of the film noir style going on. GRAPHICS: A bite dated these days. TRAVEL: Includes map allowing teleportation. Please and thank you! MECHANICS: Typical HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES: classic style and simple. Good for beginners. MINI-GAMES also good for newbies. LENGTH: Depends on player – this is a good game for an afternoon/evening. ACHIEVEMENTS: yep VOICE ACTING: For this genre it was pretty acceptable
