Welcome to The Fabled Woods, a dark and mysterious narrative short story. Despite the picturesque beauty, ugly and terrible secrets lurk among the shifting boughs, darkness that no amount of dappled sunlight can erase. Take the first step, and experience an unforgettable journey.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 23 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's fine for a walking sim but there are many better ones out there for sure. The title makes it sound like it's going to be a fairy tale setting, not a murder mystery. This review is more neutral and I only recommend it if you just want to play every budget walking sim ever. Otherwise, there are countless better walking sims out there.
NEGATIVE🟥 🟧 🟨 🟩 🟦 🟪POSITIVE
#tinygamereview

you are on a path in the woods. at the end of that path is a cabin. inside that cabin is an upsettingly-unsatisfying story
🟧 INTERESTING BUT POINTLESS 🟧

🎮 🟧Gameplay: walk; pick thing up; open door; repeat 📖 🟨Narrative: eventually has some connecting thread that seems like it'd be interesting, but goes nowhere 🔊 🟧Audio: voices sound AI-generated 🖼️ 🟨Visuals: elements of the environment look pretty great, but the lighting is awful and some of the text is difficult to read because of how the game's engine(?) works (or doesn't)

#readme
My premiere #horrorshorts #freeplay, and oof. The Fabled Woods has the trappings of an interesting narrative walking simulator, but the narrative falls short and leaves threads a-hangin'.
The drowned child?
Seems to only exist to give another character "dimension," but that exact same dimension is established through what looks to be the only valuable insight gained from trying to read the random items you can pick up - making it a pointless detail (either way).
The axe?
Never comes up again, but appears to somehow warrant symbolic reference toward the end. Symbolic of what is anyone's guess.
The forensic archaeologist's death?
Unsure exactly why it happened.
The experiments? The nature of the beast? What actually happened to the campers?
Y'know, just, like, yeah. It feels like there were a ton of little details intentionally left out, but there were very few details to actually explore or return to. The "memory" mechanic seems like it could've had some usefulness in revealing more of those details, but it only ever moves the story forward exactly when prompted and not at all outside of the story-on-rails. With a couple of tiny, inconsequential exceptions, anything that's there to find will be found before you reach the ending
- including the illusion that there might be a second ending -
. And there's a lot that just isn't there to find. I beat it in under an hour and a half (during which time I was confused more than I care to admit, and even got stuck in the environment a few times). My live audience fell asleep.
#memorycard
What stood out: 📌pretty sure these voices match what I can use with the AI in Articulate 360 Who it's for: 🎁not a streaming audience, that's for sure

Curator: Nostalginauts
A very short walking simulator with a deeply tragic story — a tale of villainy and forgiveness, about how terrible deeds stay with you until you finally face and acknowledge them. Special shoutout to the music and the beautiful voice acting.
