The Excavation of Hob's Barrow

Holy horses! Where do I begin... I´m a sucker for old point n click adventures like all the Lucasarts games. I´ve played my fair share of these games, but this game slipped under my radar.. such a good and thrilling game. Not only a good and well written story, but also the graphics and high level of creepy moments. This will be high on my list of point n click adventure games from now on! Play it ffs!

A bleak, well-written folk-horror point-and-click. A similar level of quality and polish to Wadjet's other games. Nice visuals and great voice acting. Probably had a touch too much time spent walking around trying to figure out what to do next for my liking, but that may have been me and not the game. Hard to know. But I enjoyed the time I spent with it.

Really fun mystery /adventure! The VO was well done as well and the story was suitably creepy

Solid AGS folk-horror point and click. Featuring Abraxas, England rainy moors and Lynch references. Finished in 7 hours. Good voice acting and writing, though flashbacks are a little overused

Very spooky, very cool adventure game. One of my favourites.

- It's an intriguing horror game that left me quite perplexed in the end - If you like solving puzzles, mysticism and horror I think it is a fun little game to give it a shot - The only downside is that it doesn't have multiple endings as I would like to explore other possibilities with the story but oh well

Something of Lovecraft, something of old point-and-click games. Feels like interactive movie with very smooth and slow atmosphere. Puzzles are quite easy and solutions are logical. Totally worth it!

Good story with a twist into horror.

Of course - this game is graphically 'simple', taking you back to 'pixellated' games of yore; there is however much to admire. It conjures its own eerie atmosphere - the musical score is excellent in this regard - and the progression via following clues and solving puzzles is just the right side of challenging and the overall storyline is interesting and engaging with some good - in many cases convincingly 'local' voice work by the actors involved. Recommended if you are looking for a change of pace and - if you are of an age like I am - as a somewhat nostalgic reminder of 'simpler' games that nevertheless got under your skin as they connected with your imagination.
