Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.11/day in the week to Aug 4 → 4.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Antiquarian Thomasina Bateman is writing a book on the barrows of England, documenting the treasures she finds buried within. When an intriguing letter summons her to the small village of Bewlay, tucked away in the remote countryside, she sets off by train with her assistant a day behind.
Upon her arrival, however, the mysterious man who summoned her is nowhere to be found. Her assistant never arrives. A stubborn landowner refuses access to the barrow, and the locals are wary of this woman who is traveling alone and (gasp!) wears trousers.
The excavation of Hob’s Barrow is off to a rocky start. And then Thomasina starts having strange dreams…

A dark, complex and evolving storyline featuring interwoven elements from real English folklore.
Traditional point and click adventure game puzzles and interactions, with an easy modern interface.
A cast of intriguing characters, from suspicious villagers to sickly vicars to lordly landowners, all with their own unique stories and motives.
A distinct folk horror tone and grounding.
Evocative pixel-art graphics, featuring cut-scenes and engaging animations.
A suitably atmospheric original soundtrack from The Machine. The Demon. - one half of the duo behind the award-winning "Football Game" soundtrack.
Fiends in the furrows, the smell of damp soil, and a cat or two.
Sums Steam only; GOG publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

An excellent game that harkens back to the point and click adventures that I grew up with. Also the horror elements are well done, and not jump scare or gorey like a lot of modern horror games that we've seen in the last few years. A very smart game that challenges you to think, engage your puzzle brain and see what in the heck is going on in this town. Samantha Béart is fantastic as Thomasina in a time period that doesn't want to take a lady seriously.
I signed up to play a lovely Victorian barrow archaeologist visiting a quaint little English village to examine a burial mound. What I actually signed up for was slowly realizing that every single villager is being extremely weird about a hole in the ground, and somehow I kept ignoring every red flag because I was simply too committed to my one shovel and my one goal. This game understood something deeply important about folk horror, which is that nothing needs to actually happen for ninety percent of the runtime for you to feel a persistent, creeping dread settle into your bones like damp English weather. People smile a little too long. A shepherd says something a little too ominous. A sheep exists somewhere nearby and I do not trust it. Immaculate atmosphere. Deeply unsettling. I loved every second of feeling like I was one wrong conversation away from becoming a human sacrifice. And the puzzles are genuinely clever without ever feeling unfair, which as someone who has rage quit many a point and click adventure over an obtuse inventory combination, I deeply appreciate.

I have finished the game a few times over the years and I must say it remains one of my favorite ones to this date. Absolutely amazing!
It's OK - it starts well, but the puzzles become a bit too "try every item on every person and find the random fit the designer intended" for my liking, a little too Monkey Island. If you like Monkey Island I guess you'll love this.
What a tremendous leap in artistry compared to previous titles from this dev! Bleak, unsettling, and very charming. The Excavation of Hob's Barrow is a much needed addition to the small catalog of folk horror games on the market and dare I say a must play for fans of Lovecraftian horror.
honestly, this game is just disrespectful of the player's time story: decent but come on pixel art: occasionally beautiful gameplay: utterly bad filler: oooooh boy it's plentiful if you haven't even heard of the CONCEPT of demons or folklore or the fae etc, maybe this spooky game would rattle your bones but wow was I disappointed literally come on, I can't believe you made me do so much pointless timewasting stuff, just to railroad a completely linear story that I could have just read as a blogpost or watched in a 30 min youtube video
Really fun mystery /adventure! The VO was well done as well and the story was suitably creepy
This game is just incredible. I can't recommend it enough, specially if you're into "lovecraftian" storytelling/writing. I know it might be overused, but here it's true to it's nature and done masterfully. Just want to thank the devs for this one, a brilliant game.
Too linear for me. More running around than story and puzzles really
