The Endless Adventure

Pros: It was half a buck, game was "released" 4 days ago (8/22/2021, I'm playing it late 8/26/2021). Maybe more content is forthcoming? I bought it because it claimed to be "Endless" (both in the game title and in the description) and tagged as Roguelike (implying starting over has some "legacy benefit" carrying over from the previous games). Cons: (Reviewing it as I currently experience it...) It's only 5 levels (not endless), ends without warning ("descend the 5th staircase and get a giant "GAME OVER" message, then restarts at level 1 with nothing carrying over). Gold serves no purpose (no merchants). Item values have no purpose (no merchants). Inventory space fills up quickly so you either discard items or ignore loot. Found no use for magic despite potions to raise magic and restore magic all over the place. You can't even see your magic points (literally pointless? LOL). Every foe deals 1 damage and every attack deals 1 damage to them. Weapons and Armor levels are pointless. Also, attacking things is really odd... it's like the game barely responds to the mouse click and the instructions don't tell you you need to actually click on the foe - just a very awkward implementation. You get two gold keys at start which open locked doors. You never get another gold key but encounter about a dozen locked doors scattered within the levels. You only ever encounter two enemies - a rat, and a bastard skeletal archer that mercilessly sinks arrows into you as you approach, killing you very quickly early on, even after quaffing the starting pack of health increase potions. I don't know... it feels like a waste of money at the time of review - why not call it a beta until it's got more features and fleshed out? As-is, the game is not even worth the discounted price. Hopefully the developer sees this and plans resolutions for the above list of cons.

[b]Run[/b].[/h3] Let's dispense with the formalities: [i]Endless[/i] is a shoddily cobbled application that spares no attention to player experience. There are so many things wrong here, I can hardly count them all, but briefly: ❌ No resolution scaling? Ant sized sprites on high res, no in-game options ❌ Gold is worthless. No shop ❌ Energy potions are worthless. There's no MP bar or magic to begin with. ❌ Armor doesn't appear to make any difference, everything deals 1 damage ❌ Arrows don't require a bow. Shield flavor text says they will prevent ranged use, but don't ❌ No on-screen input guide. No key rebinding ❌ Your reward for reaching the stairs on the 5th stage? "Game Over" I didn't make that last one up - reaching the next floor displays the same game over message as if you die. Now that's some classy trolling. Don't buy this. Though if you care, I'd consider this at a decent risk of removal should Valve QC ever decide to audit this dev's portfolio. It's filled with incomplete or bare-minimum effort widgets. [u]Achievement Hunters[/u]: Kill 20 enemies. It's cumulative so no worries if you die. However, it needs to be done in one session. Used ranged items for fastest results. ~20 mins to 100% [i]Thank you loomkoom for the kind donation.[/i]

The weapon upgrades don't increase your damage? There are millions of weapons to pick up, but to the best of my understanding, they didn't do anything. Rat monsters always take 1 damage, and always do 1 damage. Additionally, the text and escape-menu/manual don't seem to load properly in windowed mode, and seem to cut off text when full screen on a large monitor. If the weapons worked and there were a few more enemy types early? Maybe I would recommend. But at the moment it feels like a unfinished game.

The Endless Adventure is another GameMaker Studio asset flip from serial copy+paste infringers, ImperiumGame. All these guys do is rip off game templates and projects from the Yoyogames/GameMaker Studio store, change the name and a few cosmetic details, and try to scam people into paying for someone else's work on Steam. They have run asset flip scams dozens of times, and this is no exception. It's nothing but a cash grab. This time they've ripped off a basic template for a 2D retro pixel lightweight ripoff of Hack/Rogue from the 1980's, but with very shallow gameplay because, well, it's just a template/tutorial that they've copied and pasted onto Steam. Because they're just scammers. Asset flips and other "Fake games" (as Valve calls them) are harmful to the industry, because they pollute the marketplace and reduce the visibility and exposure needed by genuine indie developers. In line with dishonest asset flippers, the game was dumped immediately at launch into DailyIndieGame shovelware bundles. Even if this wasn't just an asset flip, it would be garbage. Impossible to recommend.

ONLY 5 level sheshhhh ... i hope my money will get you guys work on the game... Actually, i want my money back...what a scam

Игра вызвала противоречивые чувства. С одной стороны, это хорошо проработанная игра. Есть смысл, затягивает, расслабляет. Но с другой стороны, такое ощущение, что разработчики в последний момент вырезали часть функций. Как-будто что-то не хватает для того, чтобы можно было поставить 10/10. Возможно не хватало время. Однако то, что получилось в итоге, вполне годно. А если учитывать цену на игру, то это топ.

Одно из самых упоротых управлений, денег не стоит

Это, возможно внеклассная работа чья-то.. Не вытерпел пройти первый данж. Управление мега кривое, настроек минимум. Не рекомендую, врятли когда бы то ни было это станет чем-то достойным.

The Endless Adventure - отличная игра в которой нам предстоит собирать предметы , сражаться с подземными монстрами . В игре прикольная 2д графика . Вообщем игра годная , всем советую к покупке .
