The Corruption Within

Firstly, this is definitely not a horror game, as the tag says, maybe some aspect of horror like, oh my gosh this is terrible thing that have happened to someone, but definitely no jumpscares or monster chasing after you kind of horror. It is a nice simple point & click logic puzzle game with the retro pixel art. I would recommend that any interactable items, you click on it more than once, some of them need several clicks to see more of the dialogues by the protagonist. It is not the bestest game but it is nice and simple game, if you want to start on a simple point and click game, and solving the mystery, this is a good start for you, short and sweet, and absolutely no horror whatsoever. It is a classic "who done it?" story.

Short and sweet. The puzzles were very creative, and the mystery was intriguing. A few revelations made me want to speak to the other characters to hear what they thought, but not much was discussed. The controls were easy to use, and the hints were just enough to give you a good idea how to progress. Overall, a nice experience.

If you stumbled over this game, you might be as lost as the family of its protagonist… [i]The Corruption Within[/i] is an atmospheric and nice short adventure game that surly not is for everyone. Not because it is so scary, but because of the very old-school graphics, the way you maneuver through the world and because of its length. It is presented in first person perspective, and you move through the locations by clicking on arrows that allow you to change the scene. After arriving at a location, you can examine a lot of stuff, nearly everything has a nice description and some jokes or background here and there. There are several characters you interact with, a little stereotypical at times but they serve the plot well some move from one scene to another as the story progresses. Overall, the mechanics are fine if you are into adventure games, but due to the approach regarding movement there are some passages where there is a lot of “back tracking” to get back to a place to do something and go back where you came from. It’s not super annoying but it’s not ideal either. I really liked the story. The atmosphere was good and what happened was a fresh take. Also, it made a lot more sense than most (Hollywood) movies these days. i]The Corruption Within[/i] clocks in under two hours. Which makes the current price of a little over 8 Euros too expensive for my taste. But if you are into this kind of game and want to experience a nice but short story, buy it on sale…

I thought this was a pretty solid point-and-click horror game for what it is, with a nice, interesting plot twist that kept me engaged. My only real complaint would be the characters. They sometimes come off as a bit awkward and strange, but not in a way that enhances the atmosphere or story. It felt more clunky than deliberately unsettling. Still, despite that, I definitely think it’s worth playing if you’re into horror and enjoy a good mystery.

Horror/mystery point and click game, by Cosmic Void and Dave Seaman (of Captain Disaster series), which I am a fan of both. The graphics are pixel art with minimal animations and sound effects. There is voice acting in the intro and end, but not during the game. The puzzles are the right level, you need to keep going back and forth to check if anything's changed. About 1-2 hours play. There is a branching narrative, but only affects the end of game messages. Another recommended game by both creators.

Una aventura gráfica corta (poco más de 2hs) y correcta. Los puzzles están bien diseñados y la historia acompaña. Hay unos momentos de "decisión" pero no afectan a la historia principal sino una especie de "que pasó después", aunque medio descolgados. Puntaje: 7/10

It's an okay adventure game. The writing overall is better than "Devil's Hideout", the pixel art is slightly worse, the story will take a couple of hours to go through, and all the puzzles were solvable without a major roadblock or hints. Overall, I enjoyed playing the game, though it's nowhere near the best games of the genre. The few choices that can be made during the playthrough contribute to the immersion.

I enjoyed the breezy pace this game has. You're looking for your wife and kids, and help some people out on the way, but you don't put the search on hold. The conversations are linear but I enjoyed them, they felt like (literary) conversations with appropriate responses. Neither the writing or the plot were all that complicated or interesting, but they carried me through the game. The point and click puzzles were pretty simple, although I recommend pen and paper for some of the clues.
