I guess I liked it; voice acting was decent, the story was interesting and the puzzles which revolve around a 3D printer gun and also taking pictures to communicate to your partner were mostly enjoyable enough. The game has a slight firewatch vibe to it in that you are in regular communication to another person but you don't see them until the end of the game. I did experience some bugs though, ladders in particular were very quirky, my character would regularly fall down from the top just after finishing climbing and you sometimes have to approach from weird angles to interact with them in the first place. Interacting with any object really can be problematic; at least once I got stuck looking at a particular book and had to quit the game all together. I also had one crash to desktop but luckily no loss of progress in either case. I also wish that the interactions were consistent, like when you are looking at emails you need to press escape to close the interaction but when looking at other objects such as books you need to left click (escape will just pause the game) Its a minor gripe but muscle memory from other games where escape works as you would expect (i.e. first press closes the interaction and a second press pauses the game) makes this behaviour kind of annoying. Overall I enjoyed it but at the same time its very short; It might seem a bit expensive at full price for roughly around 4 hours game-play (I reckon an hour of my time on steam was me leaving the game idle) but then again writers and voice actors don't work for free so paying a little extra is expected for these kinds of games. Still though you might want to wait for a sale.
The big radio dishes underneath the collection of cuboid stones from before history decided to write things down made me write this
It's a walking simulator story. Good side was is that it wasn't bad, I did enjoy the retro future story. Bad side, it's a bit expensive by default, and it's very linear with no meaningful choice as the player.
This is a tough one. Does it deserve a thumbs up? No. Does it deserve a thumbs down? A slightly stronger no. I'm the kind of guy who likes to uncover every corner of every area, and in this game I just found myself b-lining to the next objective. I'm also the kind of guy who loves the flavor text left lying around, but here I didn't read about 95% of them because they added nothing (read like the last 3 when you're clearly about to enter act 3 and you'll get all you need to know). With the exception of 2 ah-ha moments throughout the game, the puzzles are VERY straightforward, and I never felt like I accomplished anything by doing them. There was almost no discovery in the mechanics, just "connect this pipe to that pipe". The ending was one of the most mind-numbingly boring sequences I've played in a LONG time. You end up spending more time running back and forth and screwing with miniscule placement than doing any kind of discovery. All of that said, the story was fine and I do feel like the team did their best to make a good game, just for whatever reason they didn't succeed. I didn't enjoy most of it, but I felt like their heart was in the right place and I'd feel bad giving it a thumbs down. Most often games have mixed reviews for a reason.
I enjoyed this game a lot. It was intriguing, and I loved the little hints here and there that point towards the big secret that ties the whole story together. The game's a bit short, but it was long enough to be fun and short enough that it didn't overstay its welcome, so that's fine. I received this game at a considerable discount, however, and I might not recommend it for the full price. It is quite expensive for what it is. I will say that I encountered a bug that happened twice in the Aequus chamber that caused me to get stuck on ladders after climbing down them. I was forced to quit to menu and go back to the most recent checkpoint. I have no idea what caused this bug, but other than that and the thing about the price I don't have any meaningful complaints about this game. I look forward to seeing more from this studio in the future.
Like a mix between an unsatisfying Stanley Parable and Portal. Oddly enough it's still a fun enough game to keep you engaged and coming back for more
Don't really get the only 40% negative reviews for this. Feel like this is a pretty decent story and exploration focused walking sim with a bit of puzzling. I assume a lot of people thought this would be an actual puzzle game, which it really isn't.
A very enjoyable game, sitting somewhere between a first person puzzle game and a walking simulator. You have limited construction/deconstruction abilities, and the puzzle gameplay revolves around this (building bridges, weighted switch/tile puzzles, etc). It takes a lot of cues from Portal and The Stanley Parable, and it's not as good as either of those, but it's still fun in its own right. It won't change your life but it's a very fun few hours.
