The Battle for Sector 219 is an abstract strategy card game where two players field a sci-fi army battling a rival race for control of a world's capital city. The game is easy to learn and quick to play but has a depth of strategy usually found only in games that takes much longer to play.

With a little more polish this would have made a great mobile game. I have played this only once but the flaws are immediately apparent. My main complaint is that when looking at the list of cards in your hand, you can mouse over them to highlight them, but it doesn't bring them to the front. You can double click them to make them take up the whole screen, but once there, you can't switch to view other cards, you have to back out, and then double click on another card. Honestly it seems like making a user friendly interface for viewing a hand of cards is pretty much a no-brainer so I'm wondering it they just gave up on this project or had never played it themselves LOL I wish I could recomment this game, it's a great idea, but badly executed. I might print myself some copies of the cards to play the game IRL, but I don't see myself playing this app much in the state that it's in.
I'm a fan of The Battle for Hill 218. It's a nice, quick, strategic abstract game of supply and conquer. It's traveled with me in my back pocket for the last few years, ready to break out at any time. When it released on iOS, I snagged the pocket version for my phone ASAP. Now, a pseudo-sequel with a sci-fi theme hits Steam just as I bought a new computer. The Battle for Sector 219 is a nice digital card game that plays quickly, is functional and slick. If you love quick, thinky, 2-player card games, you'll enjoy The Battle for Sector 219. But, it will require some patience. There are some interesting quirks with the UI. There's no UNDO button, which can make an accidental click frustrating. When you click on an individual card it is overlapped by the other cards in your hand, obscuring important info when refamiliarizing yourself with the cards. There's also a weird glitch when you WIN against the computer, the game states that you lost, and vice versa. And sadly, there's no tutorial, simply a set of rules to read which can be offputting to new players. But, for experience players, BfS219 will seem very familiar. The main changes are the unit types which now feature some streamlined abilities that reasonably improve the play experience, removing diagonal considerations which now seems obvious as a negative from the original game. It feels better. I hope to return to this review again to note that the above concerns were fixed in an update. For now, I recommend the game, but with caution to new players and to reinforce that you'll need to convince friends to buy the game since online players are in short supply.
I do not like this game.
Great quick game for those that like IRL card games, don't mistake it for a collectible card game. This has some really intuitive and fun mechanics that we don't often see in games
the rules seem to change from card drop to card drop the only i can get to work reliably is the artilary the drop troops some times fire when they have no support and suplies other times they do nothing same goes with every other card
Bad game 4/10
AI is super slow and can't/won't forfeit meaning you can have matches that you should have won but the bot stalls forever so you have to forfeit. Online matches either don't work properly or everyone is cheating, either way its a waste of money.
The Battle for Sector 219 is a pleasant time waster to play on occasions where you want a 5-15 minute break from something else. The Online play is quite limiting as you can't decide whether to play asynchronous or live online games, it seems to automatically decide that for you. I feel they could easily add more types of card and even create a story/campaign mode (considering the title of the game is "The Battle for Sector 219") with scenarios of preset positions. One of the main issues I had was it was incredibly difficult to place units near the bottom of the screen as the HUD of your hand and airstrikes obstructs it.
The instructions are a bit to wade through at the start, but once you get going this actually a prettty engaging little two-player strategy - the AI's no slouch either! The games are about 10 mins so I've been playing in between other stuff. Recommened and hope to see more good stuff from his developer.
