Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 31.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The story is alright, but the actual gameplay and shooting/combat mechanics are brilliant with good variety of weapons, enemies and NPCs. Very good looking game with ray tracing turned on.

Harsh reviews from others? This game is beautiful, fun, and exciting! the world is immersive. my only complaint is that its not long enough. seriously, i really with there was end game replayability :( it is a fantastic ride for 25 hours though. so worth it. it scratched a huge itch for character development and dispatching bad guys. highly recommend. the fixed camera was different than i was used to but it was all part of the experiance of this really fun game!
If you care even little bit about good writing, don't play this game. If seeing typos in a 5 year old game bothers you, don't play this game. If being able to make important choices of any kind matters to you, don't play this game. Ironically, there is no depth to this game on any level. Difficulty is ALWAYS a stat check. The ONLY positive element to this game is the visuals. The city looks amazing. The actual GAME is an afterthought. Avoid unless you can get it for <$5.
So yeah, there's a pretty clear reason why this game has somehow done extremely well for itself, having over 12,000 reviews just on steam of people who decided to purchase this game AND leave a comment. Why it has a port to multiple consoles and being high profile enough to make it onto xbox games pass as a selling point while getting the studio outright purchased by the publisher Krafton. However, there are much bigger pain points for why it sits at only mostly positive. This game is imaginitive. It has an extremely vibrant and varied setting drenched in background and history with so many fun designs and different shaped people with all these unique augmentations that makes it a joy to just wander through. It feels like the star wars prequel movies with how much variety you can see in this setting, and the story path makes sure to play around with this setting. Making you go into high profile locations, gang hotspots, seedy bars, hangouts, every specific area of town you could ask for as well as the maintenance corridors of what keeps this city burning. Here's the thing though, as eye-catching and fun looking as this game seems? It's extremely simplistic and rather boring when it actually gets to the game aspect. It's just a generic twin stick shooter, and while it tries to shake things up with rpg stats and systems, augmentations with unique abilities, allocation of skill points affecting major stats. While also being a looter shooter that lets you modify each piece of equipment at shops. It really can't manage to make the combat itself interesting enough to play with this variety. You have enemies who will shoot at you, and then you have enemies that will beeline straight for you with a melee weapon. You're never going to be in a situation that's going to ask you for more than pointing and shooting, and while it has a cover system, it doesn't really give you environments that let you take cover, and since over half the enemies are melee based and closing in on you, it makes it feel redundant to ever use cover since between grenades and the melee, you're never actually safe staying in one spot. I wish I could say it hits a balance of asking you to find safe spots to deal with the ranged enemies and letting you finish up with the melee, but it never actually does. Most of the time you'll do better off to target all the ranged users with all your abilities and weapons tanking what you can't dodge to then just slowly and methodically wipe up the melee users like they're zombies. It makes this entire game feel rather half baked. This gameplay acts as the central system for the game in fact. You'll pretty much be walking from point A to point B in the most linear fashion possible. Point A being the central hub area. It's not open, and it doesn't really feel like it's taking you places even if the locations are always different. It just feels like walking through enemy chambers one after the other until you reach your objective and have a bossfight, which in fairness at least demand something more that's interesting unlike the actual combat. I really wish I could say this game was good, but I'm more hopeful for them making another game in this setting that has good gameplay.
Joué en local écran partagé, très bon jeu, malheureusement il y en à très peu des comme ça
Writing this while I still have inspiration For everyone who doesn't like isometric/top-down games like me... this game will probably change your mind. I honestly don't remember the last time I played a game that was this fun and interesting. You guys really put a lot of effort into the details. The gunplay feels great, the cyberpunk atmosphere is amazing, and the map feels huge. I got lost so many times just exploring because the world is so well made. The only downside for me is that there aren't many weapons. I really hope you add more in future updates. Another thing I would love to see is an appearance/transmog system, like in The Division. Sometimes I want to use a strong armor, but it looks terrible. I don't want to look ugly just because it has better stats. Let us keep the appearance we like while using better gear. Also, please add more clothes, armor skins, and character customization. That's something players really enjoy. One thing I don't understand... why is this game discounted so much? It deserves way more attention. Maybe the marketing wasn't good enough, because this game is honestly much better than I expected. If you're like me and usually avoid isometric games, give The Ascent a chance. You might end up loving it.
Overall Rating: 5.5/10 The Ascent is a decent game at its core, but significant technical issues and frustrating design choices keep it from reaching its full potential. Technical Performance & Optimization Crashes: The game crashed 3 times during my 15-hour playthrough, requiring a full restart each time. Stuttering: Frequent micro-lags occur during gameplay, which severely disrupts the flow and negatively impacts combat. Thermals: The default settings place a heavy load on system hardware, causing noticeable overheating issues. I strongly recommend dropping the graphics settings to Medium and capping the frame rate at 60 FPS to maintain manageable temperatures. Story & Gameplay Silent Protagonist: The main character does not speak a single line throughout the entire game. This complete lack of voice acting makes it difficult to connect emotionally with the character or feel invested in their struggles. Frustrating Backtracking: The relentless backtracking was by far my biggest grievance. The game desperately needs weapon upgrade checkpoints mid-mission—having to backtrack massive distances just to upgrade gear ruins the pacing. Exploration vs. Padding: Some players might argue that backtracking encourages map exploration, but side quests and loot box hunting already fulfill that role naturally. Forcing players to re-traverse empty areas feels more like unnecessary padding than genuine exploration.
