About
Dig deeper. Take risks. Escape the planet — or die trying.
Texplore is a fast-paced roguelite digging and combat game built around high-stakes decisions. Each run pushes you deeper underground, where richer resources, deadlier enemies, and bigger rewards await. Go too far without cashing out, and everything you've gained is lost.
Procedurally generated worlds: randomized caves, enemies, and bosses every run
Cash-out economy: mine, sell, and upgrade for per-run progression
Lucky Roll upgrade wheel: gamble for run-changing boosts, from Common to Legendary
Teleporters & rare items: reposition or escape dangerous situations
Autominer & Factory buildings: craft rocket parts and unlock passive mining
Controller support: fully playable with gamepad across all menus and gameplay
⚠️ Important: Shop upgrades reset each run, but Skill Tree upgrades persist. Learning when to cash out — and when to risk everything — is the key to survival.

Drill through collapsing terrain and mine valuable resources while navigating procedurally generated caves. Every world is different, with randomized ore veins, tunnels, and hidden secrets waiting to be discovered.

Face dangerous enemies and epic bosses lurking beneath the surface. Combat is fast, tense, and rewarding — fight smarter, use the environment, and survive to push even deeper.

Sell your loot at the Shop to improve your drill, jetpack, weapons, and armor for the current run. Gamble with the Lucky Roll wheel for rare, run-changing boosts. Remember: Shop upgrades reset each run — strategy is key.

Even when a run ends, your performance earns Skill Points for permanent upgrades in the Skill Tree. Each new run starts stronger, allowing you to reach deeper levels, take greater risks, and unlock new tools, factories, and rocket parts.

Build the rocket from resources you collect and aim to launch — your ultimate goal. Reach the Moon to face rarer resources, tougher enemies, and a brutal final boss at the bottom of the world.
A Tough but Rewarding Dig
After spending well over 10 hours digging, dying, cashing out too late (and too early), and slowly pushing deeper into Texplore’s collapsing underground, I can safely say this is one of those roguelites that teaches you through pain — and that’s a compliment. Texplore throws you into a dying Earth with a drill, a dream, and just enough tools to get yourself into serious trouble. The goal is simple: go deeper, gather resources, build the rocket, and escape the planet. The execution? Tense, addictive, and constantly forcing meaningful decisions. Core Gameplay Loop – Risk vs Reward 💰⚠️ At its heart, Texplore is all about knowing when to push and when to bail. Each run tempts you with richer ore, tougher enemies, and better rewards the deeper you go. But greed is punished brutally. Die before cashing out, and everything from that run is gone. This risk-reward balance is where the game truly shines. After a few hours, you stop blaming deaths on bad luck and start recognizing your own mistakes: one more cave, one more enemy, one more spin of the Lucky Roll wheel… and suddenly the run is over. Digging, Combat, and Movement ⛏️⚔️ Digging through procedurally generated caves feels fast and responsive. The terrain collapses, tunnels twist unpredictably, and positioning matters more than it first appears. Combat is snappy and dangerous — enemies hit hard, and careless movement will end a run quickly. What I appreciate most is that combat never feels unfair. If you die, it’s usually because you misjudged a situation, ran out of resources, or overstayed your welcome underground. Economy, Shops, and the Lucky Roll 🎰 The cash-out economy is brutal but brilliant. Shop upgrades during a run are powerful, but temporary — everything resets when the run ends. This makes every purchase feel important and every gamble risky. The Lucky Roll wheel deserves special mention. It’s pure roguelite chaos: sometimes it saves your run, sometimes it encourages bad decisions, and sometimes it’s the reason you go deeper than you should. After many hours, it still feels exciting rather than gimmicky. Meta Progression and Long-Term Goals 🌱 While shop upgrades reset, Skill Tree progression persists, and this creates a strong sense of long-term growth. Even failed runs feel productive because you’re always unlocking something that helps you reach deeper next time. Autominers, factories, teleporters, and rocket parts slowly change how you approach each run. By the 10-hour mark, my playstyle was completely different from my first few attempts — smarter, more deliberate, and far more confident. World Design and Procedural Variety 🌍 No two runs feel the same. Ore placement, enemy layouts, rare items, and boss encounters keep the underground feeling unpredictable. The Moon and late-game areas significantly raise the stakes, introducing tougher enemies and forcing tighter decision-making. It’s not a narrative-heavy game, but the world tells its story through mechanics: a planet collapsing, resources running out, and desperation driving risk-taking. Presentation and Controls 🎮🎨 Texplore keeps things clean and readable. Visuals are functional but stylish, clarity is prioritized over clutter, and controller support works flawlessly across gameplay and menus. Audio design supports the tension without becoming overwhelming — you always feel like you’re one mistake away from disaster. Replayability and Addiction Factor 🔁 “Just one more run” is dangerously real here. The mix of procedural generation, permanent upgrades, and ever-present risk makes Texplore incredibly replayable. Even after 10+ hours, I was still discovering new strategies, upgrades, and ways to fail spectacularly. Final Thoughts ✨ Texplore understands exactly what makes roguelites compelling: meaningful risk, hard consequences, and steady mastery over time. It doesn’t hold your hand, but it rewards learning, patience, and restraint. If you enjoy games that challenge your judgment as much as your reflexes, this one digs its hooks in deep.
Score: 9/10 – Addictive, tense, and deeply satisfying. You’ll die often… but every run makes you smarter, faster, and closer to escape. 🚀⛏️🔥
"A very nice roguelite that shines with its meaningful risk management during runs and satisfying meta progression. The grind is definitely there, but it’s part of the genre, and the simple visuals are good enough not to stop you from digging into this gem :)” Verdict: Positive 🐭👍 Watch the pure uninterrupted gameplay video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOgVWgZtki8 For more concise reviews and recommendations please follow my curator.
Texplore is an interesting, and suprisingly deep new indie game (true indie), and personally for me works as a "relax" game :) Game has potential, concept is interesting and I'm curious where it can go. Clean UI helps and game itself is quick to start - which for me it's always a big +
Before I start this review, I want to openly disclose that I networked and got connected with the developer, he has provided me a free review copy for critique purposes, but I otherwise received NO OTHER COMPENSATION To the developer of this charming and promising title, I thank you for the review key With that, its on to the review Texplore in my opinion is a mixture of the following games Terraria Splunky Motherlode And lastly, Chips Challenge I'll divide the game into chunks and I'll explain why with each element of the game Terraria-This is a 2D approach to Minecraft and similarly encourages digging for resources and evolving a type of "hub" back on the surface, just with a lot less crafting. Everything from unlocking an auto miner to completing resource collection challenges for a quest giver. This is obviously very similar to Terraria, just extremely simplified and a "diet" version if you will, but let me emphasize this is NOT a bad thing in this game's case Splunky-This game has a big emphasis on money and using it as a means to increase survivability, better your tools, and enhance your run, this game is also a rogue lite and has only SEMI open world elements. There's also different biome types as you dig deeper. In short, this game isn't as chaotic or arcade like as Splunky, but it has a similar gameplay loop and economy system (Albiet the gameplay loop is FAR more relaxed and slowed down, but that is NOT a bad thing in this games case Essentially this is a much more relaxed and less chaotic Splunky Motherlode-The elements of Motherlode that come into play in my opinion is the resource management. You constantly have to keep an eye on your fuel and use the different weapons you have to mine further and to make sure you survive any encounters with enemies or bosses. All while making sure you have just enough fuel to make it back to the surface. At first glance this may seem stressful, but given the games relaxed pace, keeping track of this is 95% second nature once you get the hang of it. The other 5% is a bit of luck and paying attention to how you mine a way to go back and forth Last but not least is Chips Challenge Now HEAR ME OUT I am aware that technically speaking, Texplore and Chips Challenge are fundamentally designed differently But for lack of a better term? This is like if you took the puzzle and basic strategy approach of Chips Challenge and applies it to a rogue lite that is constantly moving and changing rather than being individual puzzles made into levels All of this? This doesn't make a groundbreaking game (No pun intended) nor does it make it an award winner, but not every game has to be that way to be fun, good, or unique and enjoyable At it's heart Texplore is a PASSION PROJECT. I can't say that enough, and it shows It wears each influence on its shoulders in a subtle and relaxed way, it sprinkles all its inspirations into a "soup" if you will, and it forges its own unique and interesting identity It's a relaxing rogue lite that is just engaging enough to keep you focused and invested, but nice and slow/ chilled out enough that you won't be having your blood boiling as you go, even when you lose a run, you might get frustrated, but this game would motivate you more to do better and upgrade your next run after you're done rather than a rage quit Texplore is like a zen-ish arcade style rogue lite, a weird concept, but thankfully the execution is pretty damn good. and I absolutely see this game having some pretty good potential Sometimes an idea you would THINK wouldn't work well actually DOES work well as long as its executed and designed well, and Texplore is a great example of that Here's to many more mining runs on a desolate Earth, to both save humanity and make big bucks while doing it! Also, bonus point that I was lucky enough to get a legendary item with a slot machine style spin on my FIRST RUN! (No microtransactions, just spin with in game XP) and that's a 0.5% chance
It seems like it could be fun; however, playing this on a 4k monitor is painful! It would be nice to have more zoom power or controls over the screen/visuals. Not to mention when entering the skill tree, having a back button would be better than having to force quit the game to get out of it. While this may sound harsh, the game has been out for some time, and it has not been addressed yet. While I want to be open-minded and considerate of the developer, I am happy that I was offered a test key to the game and did not have to buy it! I want to be positive, the game needs work, and what I have seen thus far has been more frustration than fun. Therefore, I will provide an update to this review when the product goes through several more iterations. Till then, best of luck. While I haven't had time to do more than scratch the bare surface of this awesome little indie gem, it certainly doesn't take long at all to see that this game is made from the heart and oozes quality and passion in every single pixel on your screen! https://youtu.be/nIdKWhzKHNY Highly Recommended!
Nice little mining incremental.
Let me start by saying I had my doubts. I read the reviews and 30 minutes in I thought, "this isn’t that hard.” I was wildly mistaken. 😅 This game is addicting, satisfying, and—dare I say—cozy at times. But dig too deep too early and you can kiss your run goodbye. That balance of comfort and tension makes every run feel rewarding. Massive shoutout to the developer for clearly crafting this game with care and for staying so engaged with community feedback and suggestions. It really shows.
This is a hard one. I like these style of games however in this case the platforming and movement feels off and it’s incredibly tedious going down then back up. My tendinitis hates me after an hour of playing. I had a hard time seeing everything as well even with the zoom feature. A teleport feature to bring you back to the surface would be nice. As it stands I would not revisit this title. https://youtu.be/UYAgQBHu05M
Honestly i wasn't sure what to expect but i did have fun. Played a bit more off vid. Music is chill and getting lost in the mining has me at peace. Dev seems to care and that's great to see as they have been tackling feed back in an exceptional manner. Gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ0VUt2QsbA
