its really great, and there are updates still planned for it this game had so much potential and sadly the game is quite dead. more content is promised though this really is just killin' the time until espiocracy comes out
A good cold war strategy game with great stabilisation and sound design. I recomend gatting it on a big sale.
Despite deciding to opt for a refund, I'm going to give this game a thumbs up. It has clearly been a labour of love and is a very complex game. I recommend reading the manual and the encylopedia section carefully. Then read them again. Then try your first game against the computer. My only bugbear with the game is the categorisation within the Steam store. This feels closer to an RTS than a strategy sim in my opinion and given how bad I am at RTS games I would not have purchased it if described as such. That's not a criticism against the developers, just helpful information for those trying to decide if to purchase the game. Bottom line is that if you enjoy either of RTS, strategy sims and enjoy modern history, in particular the Cold War, give this game a try.
Different than what I expected, but this game definitely grows on you though the mechanics can be a bit opaque. It's worth a few plays to get familiar.
Really entertaining game that offers a lot of replayability. It looks like the multiplayer is mostly dead at this point and the computer is fairly easy to beat after a while but there is a lot of variety still to enjoy.
The game is very enjoyable, Now the developers have added the possibility to save the game in multiplayer mode I happily recommend it.
I think we should look at this from the military point of view. I mean, supposing the Russkies stashes away some big bomb, see. When they come out in a hundred years they could take over... In fact, they might even try an immediate sneak attack so they could take over our mineshaft space... I think it would be extremely naive of us, Mr. President, to imagine that these new developments are going to cause any change in Soviet expansionist policy. I mean, we must be... increasingly on the alert to prevent them from taking over other mineshaft space, in order to BREEEEEEEED more prodigiously than we do, thus, KNOCKING US OUT IN SUPERIOR NUMBERS WHEN WE EMERGE! Mr. President, weeeeeee muuuuust noooot aloooOOOOOOOOOoow MINESHAAAFT GAAP!!!!!!!!
Preface: I became apart of the Development Team as an unpaid volunteer QA tester after purchasing the game for myself with my own money. So given that I do have an inherent bias and interest in giving the game a glowingly positive review. With that said I’ll briefly go over the game’s strengths and some reasons why this game may be or not be for you. The game has a unique and beautiful user-Interface that is akin to computer terminals of the late cold war. Also taking cues from a decent dose of 80’s pop culture, with different color setups if the default scheme isn’t to ones liking. The game is easy on the eyes. The gameplay itself is a unique take on grand strategy with a 1v1 format with two factions representing the USSR and the USA. If you don’t come from a grand strategy background the game can have a decent learning curve. In-game resources do a okay job of explaining the game elements though outside tutorial resources are recommended if you struggle to learn the game. Overall I would recommend the game for a fun cold war based grand strategy with simple but deep ‘rock, paper, scissors’ based combat, and surprising strategic depth with historical based events and leaders. Though if you’re new to grand strategy this may not be a good game to jump into the deep end with. If it is you first jump into the genre and you still would like to give the game a try I would say watch some tutorials on the game to help you get a sense of the game elements before making the purchase decision. Tl;dr: Great UI, simple but complex combat system, awesome historical context given to in-game events, and elements, decently steep learning curve.
