Abandoned and left in a very incomplete state with loads of overprices DLC.
abandonned and buggy
Early Access publish date... 2020 Estimated to be out of Early Access... 8-12 months Last DLC to developer response to anything… 2023 It is now... 2025 This game is definitely a beta version. - Buggy… not unplayable but frustrating - UI is sloppy and incomplete - AI is pathetic I really don't like developers that don't finish their projects! That said, worth every penny I spent on it... $2.49.
I don't play much with early development games. I goof here and there to feel things out, but like to wait until full release. This has been in early development for over five years and no update for quite awhile. I hate to say it, but there is a great game here, but seems like the devs just got the $$ they could and moved on. Early release in 2020 and now dead.
This game is simply a fancy demo which then wants to sell you DLC. The dice rolls seem anything but random, even though at the end of the game, a table is shown noting that all possible rolls are evenly distributed. That is true, but you can count on the enemy getting an "excellent" roll just as they need it the most or you getting the crappy roll when it will hurt you the most. Game after game I see this. It is very difficult to win in part because of the very short time in which to accomplish your objective made much worse by the fact that the computer will always get the "lucky" roll.
This has been seemingly abandoned. Pass at your own risk as there isn't to likely be any support. It's a shame nothing is being done with it.
Ultimately the core game mechanics just don't feel like there's many interesting decisions during gameplay. You try to draw out reaction fire in the least damaging way possible when on offense, but then it's just a matter of throwing dice at each other. Perhaps the large scenarios play out better, but the smaller scenarios are particularly bad in this regard, not enough terrain to provide more than one or two possible avenues of approach, and not enough turns to try something interesting. The scenarios or base system really needs to give units a bit more of the equipment that actual units have -- satchel charges or grenades or smoke grenades or something so that you could maneuver your units and choose when to use your core gear to get past a danger area.
When I first set eyes on this game I immediately thought of Squad Leader by Avalon Hill. After purchasing and playing, I'm sorely disappointed. Clunky controls, vague rules. Can't initiate opportunity fire even if I haven't moved or fired in an impulse. Multiple impulses . . . ? I understand that the game creators are trying to create fluidity on the battle field but, I have to sit and watch the enemy run by my positions without firing a shot?
Great game that i recently found and getting into. Wish they would keep updating as is got SO much potential! Coming from WDS Squad Battles
This is an excellent wargame. I'm not sure why it's still marked as early access as everything released seems finished and complete to me. You can save, but most battles can be fought in an evening easily. I'm having a good time with it!
