Grundsolides Spiel was so schon sehr Spaß macht. Bewertung: 7/10
Blind Box Shop Simulator ended up beating my own expectations. There are a few surprises that are genuinely pretty cool and the whole thing runs half way decent too. I spent a pretty fair amount of time with this one and have nearly 100% the whole thing minus the two last grindy achievements. Don't get me wrong, this game has problems, and big ones, but it is a pretty decent simulator game all things considered. However I would still call this a soft recommend too. For starters this game is a PERFECT example of why the debate on AI usage in game development is such a hot topic right now because it shows both sides of the spectrum perfectly. In one hand, a game like this, would not exist without the use of AI. The thousands and thousands of 3D models for all the figures would not only be tedious work for artists, but extremely time consuming. You would need AAA budget funding to get enough art designers on a team to pull that off. On the other hand, all the games figures/models are AI art, and it shows, it shows HARD. In a game that revolves around collecting action figures, it's a hard pill to swallow seeing such god awful art for these. The way the game is designed ALSO makes it much worse..... At first you will start unlocking new sets of figures to sell and open, and MAN..... some of these figures look GOD AWFUL. There is one set in particular where the figures were all variations of a character "skiing" and omg man. One of them looks like that poor child took blunt force trauma to the skull with a single pupil dilated all the way out, skiiing around on only one ski. Just blatantly awful AI art that makes no sense and looks uncanny, uncute, and just ick. This causes a second issue in a game themed around collecting figures. IRL people collect these figures for various reasons. You got the funko pop style because they are cute cartoony versions of things you love, you got the macfarlane figures for their high attention to detail and realism.....etc....etc....etc... The point is that people collect them because they like the figures, so when you start unlocking new figures and sets, you won't like or feel attached to literally any of them in this game, because; A. all the first sets are uncanny valley AI ick that look weird and just... off. B. Each set is the same character with random minute differences, "that one is holding a star, that one is pointing upwards, that one has a different outfit." Just tiny little differences that make them all blend together instead of stand out. So you never go oh cool this is neat, or oh cool these are cute, because they are just AI repeated slop. C. It's not until the later sets where you finally start to see better figures that don't look... off... as well as cooler themed stuff. So the whole first 15-20 hours you're collecting and selling figures that you don't like because they're ugly and...ick. D. In reality the game has one set of figures that are "pokemon" style, and this is the only set with a lot of variation between figures in the set. ALL the rest of the sets are just slight variation reskins on the same figure/character. And some of these characters have 6 entire sets, meaning there are SINGLE characters that have as many as 84 figures, and they are all just randomly themed reskins or slight variations. So all told there aren't but like 8 different figures in the game, at least that's how it feels. There are more than that, but with how much repetition there is, it doesn't feel like it. That's why this is a soft recommend because in a game that relies heavily on collecting figures, the AI art REALLY puts you off of it, especially in the early game. Later you unlock sets farther in these series that look fine. So I guess the dev was going for this on purpose? Using the weird ugly uncanny valley AI designs for the early sets as though they are "cheap" or "basic". But what it really does is turn you off to the art design at the beginning of the game and that's a big deal for a game with this kind of theme. Luckily if you stick with it the later sets can be okay. It's still all AI art but at least it's better. There are some cool Gundam inspired sets for example. In addition the game has a well done automation system here and I can't stress how much that helped my enjoyment. You have just enough employees that can provide just the right services and tasks so you never have to feel like you're stuck in chore hell the entire game. The automation is balanced well to provide plenty of actual gameplay, while allowing you to delegate and move on to new things as well. Besides just the buying and selling of figures you can collect them. This is done IDENTICAL to TCG shop simulator, in fact, each figure also includes a card that is placed in a card binder to represent the collection, exactly like TCG does. Luckily the RNG here is forgiving in that once you have two or three employees opening boxes for you, it doesn't take super long to fill out an entire set. So the dev did a good job making sure it wasn't a stupid RNG disaster trying to find a few rare figures. Don't get me wrong, there are times you're hunting for that one last figure to complete a set. But it isn't brutal either. It's balanced just right. One other reason I ultimately like this game are the little extra surprises you will find. I don't want to spoil anything but the game actually has a couple cool set piece moments, one in particular that will make you go whoaaaaa cooooooooollll. So it was cool to see little extra touches in the game that offered up some neat surprises and cool moments that were memorable. In addition there are some easter eggs spread around the block to find and figure out that are also nice little touches that give you little extra things that can be fun. So even though the art is all AI slop, I wouldn't classify this game as AI slop. The dev clearly wanted to make the game special with all these extra touches and even the one or two big set piece moments. The employee and automation system are well balanced and well thought out. This isn't the type of stuff you see in those AI asset flip cash grabs. This is the type of stuff you see when a dev actually cares about what they are making. So yeah, the art stuff was a huge turn off, especially in the beginning, but ultimately this still felt like a game with a lot of time and thought put into it. So because of that, I recommend this to anyone who enjoys games like these, this is defintely an "above-average" game in this genre! Not the best one, but still better than an average one too. So if shop sims are one of your jams, you'll enjoy this.
i think this game is fun & has a lot of cool features i havent seen in other games which are similar, my only complaint is that the art is unfortunately mostly AI, which sucks. i would really love to see the creator hire a proper artist in the future.
I have almost 16 hours in this game and that doesn't include the time I put into the demo. I can't personally tell if a game is done with AI so I can't comment on that. What I can say is that the game is enjoyable. I am a simulator addict, to be fair, and an obsessive collector in video games. Even though some of the figurines aren't my thing (mainly the LaDuDu things, never understood the obsession) I still have fun collecting them. I hope they add more figures to collect but for the price this game is worth it. I bought it during the Steam summer sale and paid 7.99 for it but I got more than 8 dollars worth of fun out of the demo alone. Worth the buy :)
Przyjemny symulator sklepu z figurkami :) Polecam :))) Link do nagrania na YT: https://youtu.be/G3pT6eeDO_k
