About
Build and decorate your tavern, hire staff, stock your larder, meet the locals, be the boss and run the show! Whether you keep a cosy neighbourhood taphouse or a lean, mean gold-minting machine, the choices - and consequences - are yours.

Dozens of intertwined game systems create unpredictable emergent situations. Dirt, heat, noise, flammability, sickness and of course, a parade of colourful customers all keep the unexpected coming.

Today’s situation: Half of your staff are in bed with sleep-sickness. Orders are piling up and patrons’ tempers are getting heated. So is the tavern - because it’s on fire! A spark from a broken lantern landed on just the wrong patch of dirt with no one around to notice. Oops, perhaps it’s time to call the fire brigade...
An expansive narrative campaign lets you build taverns across a vibrant world full of your favourite fantasy cultures. Each new location brings fresh challenges and surprising stories. Meet immortal elementals, outwit halfling philosophers and aid a crazed orc inventor.

Experience a magical storybook fully-narrated by Steven Pacey. Encounter hundreds of bite-sized stories with a surprise at every turn. There’s always someone needing the guidance of a Tavern Keeper like you. What choices will you make?
Decorate every nook and hollow of your tavern to create everything from bustling taprooms to relaxing reading corners. Place and manipulate thousands of items anywhere with complete creative freedom and make the tavern of your dreams.

Go beyond decorating and become a master artisan by using Tavern Keeper’s powerful Design Mode to craft unique furnishings. Combine pieces, add magical effects, then share your creations with the Tavern Keeper community.

Play the single-player campaign your way with adjustable game mechanics and storyteller settings or play in Freeplay for a custom challenge. Pick Challenging and strategize over every decision, barely making it through each day, or play a Relaxed game running the tavern of your dreams without pressure. The choice is yours.

The game has a classic management concept, which is solid. However, it fails badly at staying fun. The first two missions are fine, but by the third the game completely falls apart and becomes tedious and repetitive, with no new ideas. Its biggest flaw of all is that it does not offer a sandbox mode on “neutral” terrain where I can expand my tavern as much as I want. I do not recommend it.
I remember playing Game Dev Tycoon back in the day. When I heard that they were working on a tavern keeper game I didn't expect to actually like it, but surprisingly I fell in love with it. This game scratches that management itch that I love from these types of games. It is so satisfying seeing the progress of your tavern. Going from a run down tavern to a well functioning and efficient tavern is so fun. 10/10

This and every other Pro feature is free until October 20, 2026. A free account is all it takes.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This one is a bit difficult to recommend. Whether you'll enjoy it really depends on what kind of player you are. If you enjoy decorating and building your own furniture using the available building blocks, this might be the game for you. However, if furnishing and decorating feel like a chore, and you're looking for a management simulation like the Two Point-series or Theme Hospital, where you find the fun from optimizing systems, I'd recommend skipping this one. For example, to earn a high furnishing score, you'll likely need to build your own bookshelves, tables, and other furniture, as it takes a while to unlock the premade options. I wish the game included more premade furniture so I didn't have to open the workshop just to create something as simple as a table with a tablecloth with a candle on it, just to upgrade it from a one-star table to a two-star table.
Tavern Keeper is an absolutely breathtaking game. The planning and management aspects are incredibly fun, from creating your own dishes to assigning different tasks to employees based on their unique skills. Being able to set your own prices also adds a great layer of strategy and freedom. The game is full of humor, which gives it so much charm and personality. It constantly manages to stay entertaining while still being relaxing to play. But the best part of the game is definitely the building and decorating system. There are so many possibilities when it comes to layouts, sizes, colors, and combinations that you can really let your creativity run wild. What makes it even better is that designing a beautiful tavern is actually rewarded by the game, so it never feels pointless to spend time making everything look amazing. Another thing I love is the excitement of unlocking new items and features. There is always something new to look forward to, which keeps the game fresh and motivating. If I could wish for one additional feature, it would be some kind of automation system for shopping and restocking resources, that would make the experience even better. :D Overall, this game is simply fantastic and incredibly enjoyable to play.
TLDR; If you like whimsy, fantasy settings done in a strategy simulation style (all assets, animations, and voices done by humans and not AI slop) buy the game. Even the early access content offers 10+ hours of gameplay, and the Devs are actively working on adding more content (+ fixing bugs that have been reported). ------- I recently saw someone ask whether this game is worth it, given its current release status. Especially since only three locations are currently unlocked in the story/campaign. That said, it’s worth keeping in mind that the development team has already showcased a roadmap for 2026 (with more content TBD), which includes additional locations. To put it short and sweet: it took me roughly 10 hours to get through the first three tavern stories on my first blind playthrough. Each location naturally took longer than the last as I progressed. That’s more playtime than some AAA games offer nowadays at base levels. Since this is a strategy simulation, some players may finish faster while others may take longer. Honestly, it really depends on the individual and how quickly they grasp the mechanics (or choose to skip or ignore story events). Beyond the 10+ hours of story content already available, the game’s art style, fully voiced English narration, clean UI layout, the option to play freely outside of the campaigns, and the ability to create unique items and props all make it worth the cost, in my opinion. Yes, the game is in Early Access, but there is already a lot to do in its current state. On top of that, the developers are actively listening to feedback. This is showcased by the fact that the first minor update will include a color wheel for items — something suggested by the community — as well as ongoing bug fixes being implemented as issues are reported. In my humble opinion, it is absolutely worth it.
Not worth $30 in Early Access. I had fun with the missions available but it gets old pretty quick and they haven't been adding updates or any new gameplay. Just more colors. If they had a sandbox mode where you could change walls, that would have kept me busy, but you are forced into standard layouts from missions. Meh. I'd refund it if I could
