About
Build and decorate your tavern, hire staff, stock your larder, meet the locals, be the boss and run the show! Whether you keep a cosy neighbourhood taphouse or a lean, mean gold-minting machine, the choices - and consequences - are yours.

Dozens of intertwined game systems create unpredictable emergent situations. Dirt, heat, noise, flammability, sickness and of course, a parade of colourful customers all keep the unexpected coming.

Today’s situation: Half of your staff are in bed with sleep-sickness. Orders are piling up and patrons’ tempers are getting heated. So is the tavern - because it’s on fire! A spark from a broken lantern landed on just the wrong patch of dirt with no one around to notice. Oops, perhaps it’s time to call the fire brigade...
An expansive narrative campaign lets you build taverns across a vibrant world full of your favourite fantasy cultures. Each new location brings fresh challenges and surprising stories. Meet immortal elementals, outwit halfling philosophers and aid a crazed orc inventor.

Decorate every nook and hollow of your tavern to create everything from bustling taprooms to relaxing reading corners. Place and manipulate thousands of items anywhere with complete creative freedom and make the tavern of your dreams.

Go beyond decorating and become a master artisan by using Tavern Keeper’s powerful Design Mode to craft unique furnishings. Combine pieces, add magical effects, then share your creations with the Tavern Keeper community.

Play the single-player campaign your way with adjustable game mechanics and storyteller settings or play in Freeplay for a custom challenge. is gud
Tavern Keeper is what I'd currently call about 50% of a perfect game for me. Don't get me wrong, I think most of the foundation is there for the first 50% of the game. But it'll still be a while before the rest of the game systems and scenarios are fully implemented. The game systems that currently exist work great! Stocking your bar with food and drink, hiring staff, building rooms and furnishings, the various cleaning/heating/cooling systems, and the game's scenarios all play great. Incrementally adding better equipment, hiring more staff, and filling out your tavern is a really fun time. The game also features a pretty in-depth decoration system, if you really like to lean into the cozy/customization aspect of these games. The only thing that makes me hesitate to recommend it *YET* is the content pacing. There's only three scenarios in the game, one of which is the tutorial. There's a freeplay system, but there's not really a ton to do yet, because the first two scenarios don't include all the game systems that are introduced in the third scenario. You can make a huge tavern layout, but you can't actually add inn rooms or get to higher star levels, which is disappointing. I would say this game really has just 10 hours or so of content at the moment, but for the price, it's a still in a solid enough state that I'd recommend it to tycoon / management style games. Based on the pace that I've experienced, it'll probably be a while longer before the remaining scenarios and game systems are added into the game.
What a great little game, quirky and lovely graphics, the stories are great and the customer are a funny bunch of “guests” The story drags you in, at first, you will find yourself looking around but the tutorial helps no end, the voice acting is just superb, I go at my pace, as so far there is 3 campaigns each last I do believe 60 each. Making food for your “guests” is great but needs a little attention to detail what you have to do, Skewered rat and skewered pond rat, I had to laugh. For the price £19.19 it’s certainly worth it even when the price goes up after the introductory price of £23.99 is totally a bargain. I for one would buy a DLC if one came out, looking forward to the finished game and all the development of this cracking little game.
don't be fooled by the cozy aesthetic and the charming events and perfectly done voice acting, this is a pretty brutal and really fun management/tycoon game! You must hire staff to service the bar, to cook food, to clean the building, and manage inventory and maintain the building. If need to pay their wages, house them, set up their schedules. You must also section your building to zone out rooms with different purposes. You must regularly order supplies, including your ale you serve and ingredients for the dishes you cook. Money is tight, and you have a reputation to uphold! It's a massive juggling act, and while at times it can be stressful, more often I felt focused and continually charmed by the presentation. The scenerios of the main story gradually dole out new room types and buildings and mechanics to keep things interesting. At some point, you can create bedrooms for patrons to stay in, and thus you run both a tavern and an inn! It IS an early access work in progress. Of the 5 stars you can achieve at some point, you can only get to 2 and a half star rating. 3 of the 6 regions are playable. A card and star point system that is currently unutilized. Etc. Criticisms. Money is tight, and that's honestly fine, but space is even tighter. Often it really feels like I'm just cramming as much stuff into as tight of a space as I can. After you get your tavern off the ground, patrons are rolling in and are all getting served, the real limiting factor to growth is just not having enough space to do what you need to do - I NEVER had enough space for my kitchen, and some of those appliances are gargantuan. It works to the games' benefit too, to a degree. Once you have enough money, the limiting factor to the amount of staff you can have is, how many beds can you comfortable shove into the staffroom, especially without pissing people off. The hypothetical tradeoff is that, more space = more dirt = more fire hazard = bad. But idk, more space = more growth = more money = just hire more janitors bro. So, I understand that space being tight is intentional, but, at least for the scenerios, maybe it ought be, looked at? Third scenerio felt brytal, you have plenty of space but it also feels like never enough. Another one is, decor. I fundamentally like the idea, but it clashes with the other systems in a catch 22. On one hand, if it takes space, it's fighting with every other thing that takes space which is broadly more important. So, if we make the decor not take up space, then it clashes aesthetically, with it perhaps clipping into other objects or into walls, defeating its own purpose. Thus, in the end, the most attractive options for decor are things that hang on walls, or the decoration mode objects that you can carefully place upon objects that actually matter. Patrons occasionally leave presents that let you place particular decor objects for free, which is a great way to break that hesitance to bother, to subtly suggest what aesthetical object to choose in the first place, and convince those who wouldn't want to spent the money. Of course, decor is graded by patrons and DOES benefit your bottom line, but I guess, doesn't it say something that we must be given decor for free to encourage us to use it? I guess I don't really have a solution here, or even like a real "this is what the problem is", I guess this is just an observation that something is off. The, world? It's an incredibly standard high-fantasy setting with the typical tolkein races. The writing is great, and it plays with these tropes in whimsical and fun ways, and there's little bits of things actually interesting going on with the tavern keepers' guild and some implied ancient war between orcs and elves that gets reenacted. There's so many wonderful events that are well written, with a whole system that plays with save scumming and denying fate and using 'personality stats' for these choices... that it feels sort of, weird, that there isn't, any overarching plot, much at all? I can live with a "we go place to place and make cool taverns :)" story, but I'm dying for literally any long-term intrigue, or recurring characters, or any like, bigger ideas that I can chew on? Y'all already got something going, with what the tavern is and represents, but it's sort of, acknowledged without doing anything with it. idk. Just anything to think about while I'm clicking around my tavern. I thought about the arsonist druid for a long time after the event finished.
This game needs more content which its getting, its so much more fun than it should be lol 7.8/10
I got a good feeling about this one
I can’t say anything other than: I love this game. I might not have put that many hours in it yet, but I don’t need to in order to say just how absolutely brilliant it is. :D It starts with the incredibly cute design, moves on to the funny and spot-on German voice acting—complete with German humor—and extends to the charming idea of wrapping everything in stories. The recurring "storybook" events, where your choices, whether positive or negative, impact the ongoing gameplay, are simply fantastic. <3 You often see games, where you’re supposed to run an establishment, where you or your staff handle everything, while you just expand buildings and raise prices, eventually and silently turning the experience into something that’s more or less a idle game. *Tavern Keepers*, however, avoids that pitfall thanks to features like those random events. The sheer, endless range of decoration options is also worth mentioning. There are almost no limits, and I MEAN, almost no limits. You can really let your imagination running wild. You can create anything from a giant owl sitting on a table—wearing a tiny Viking helmet and a monocle while playing the guitar, to a pig with a nose ring perched on a table atop a cage full of owls, with a telescope sticking out of its rear end; by integrating a green smoke effect from the "magic" decoration category, it looks exactly like the pig is farting. There really are no limits to your imagination. xD and i love it. Even though it’s a small development studio, they’ve done a fantastic job with this game so far. You can really feel the love for detail and the immense amount of work that has gone into it. I showed my boyfriend, who usually only plays stuff like *Helldivers*, *Europa Universalis IV*, or *World of Tanks*, *Tavern Keeper*, and I watched him get stuck in the tutorial for hours, because he was having a blast decorating and was laughing so hard. So, if that doesn't nudge others to at least check out the game, then they don't know what truly good games are. In any case, I’m really looking forward to future updates and seeing what the future holds for the game. :D
Nice game
This game is an absolute masterpiece in this genre. In addition to having a lot of freedom to build and decorate, the management is complex and deep. Choose your ingredients, which are differently rated by different races, freely for each dish and serve drinks from a large selection. The writing is great and for an early access game I have never seen such a finished product, well done! Currently 3/6 scenarios are available plus free play in all of the regions and an asset editor for building absolute what ever you want and sharing your creations with others.
