Dead game is dead. Multiplayer games can take days to finish (they are only 12 rounds long, it can take hours of waiting for your opponent to bother making their next move) Singleplayer is mediocre, not terrible but not very compelling. The story is nonsense and the tactics are OK but repetitive. It was very clearly developed with multiplayer in mind, which would be fine if there were active players or options to limit the time between turns; but there's almost no one playing and the wait times are painful. If you think I'm exaggerating about how slow the game is: You set up your team to take actions, commit to the actions and the game tells you to just go ahead and close it. They will notify you some day if your opponent ever takes their turn. My first game took 3 REAL days to make 4 moves before it ended. And by moves I mean this is a lot like a very exaggerated form of chess. You have a few people to pick from, you tell them where to go, where to look and then wait. So opening move, walk forward into cover. Wait an hour. Second move, throw a flash bang. Wait an hour. Third move, look around corner for incoming enemy. Wait 20 hours for opponent to commit their next turn. I mean thankfully you can alt-tab and play something else or even just close the game and come back, but when the bulk of your "game play" is waiting, sometimes for real days, it's really hard to recommend it to anyone. If you want a good single player game that uses similar tactics and is far more in depth: Doorkickers. https://store.steampowered.com/app/248610/Door_Kickers/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1239080/Door_Kickers_2_Task_Force_North/
it's not a bad game. what it does, it does very well. however, this style of name to me is niche and not very fun. you spend 5-10 minutes per round meticulously planning everyone's moves, only to watch 5 sec of mayhem where half your squad dies because that enemy flanked you and your gunner walked away too early. the controls to get your actions are hard to work with. i spent about a third of my planning time fighting the controls. although the multiplayer is designed really well, it's dead. the campaign is really more of a practice mode until the later levels, which were honestly pretty good. this game is designed fairly well, has a cool aesthetic and interesting characters. but after beating the 10-15hr campaign, there isn't much to do. if you're a huge fan of real-time tactics games, check this out, but for most people this is a skip.
Good night, sweet prince. It was fun.
A game similar to Frozen Synapse but but without the abstract visuals but catchy cartoony graphics. The different recruits have interesting unique abilities to spice it up. The music choice of the game is matching the game very well. All in all a very cool game that I can easily recommend if you like that kind of games.
one of those ♥♥♥♥ random bundle keys, don't know why i purchased it. just gonna hide it in my library and forget about it
Great turn based strategy in the vain of Frozen Synapse. Doorkickers, Breach & Clear, ect. Lots of missions daily maps and challenges, as well as decent DLC for more maps. Runs smoothly for me and if you are into this genre it is certainly worth having in your library.
Please make a sequel!! I love this type of strategy.
TASTEE: Lethal Tactics is basically a ripoff of Frozen Synapse, but with an art style loosely ripped off from Team Fortress 2. Gameplay consists of providing orders to your squad then committing those orders. Once all orders are committed, both players teams resolve those orders in real time. There's nothing directly wrong with the concept for the game as Frozen Synapse shows it was successful with worse graphics than this game. The problem is chiefly that this is a multiplayer only game, the developers wasted the opportunity to build a great story driven campaign after putting all the time and effort into the game engine. Developers must learn other players are not an acceptable substitute for content. There's no players, and it's multiplayer only, so this dead game is impossible to recommend, especially considering how DLC bloated it is.
I always find the idea of this simultaneous tactical planning games (like Frozen Synapse) better than the execution. The planning phase is cumbersome and confusing, which makes playing and practicing enough to get good at the game a chore.
