Worth the money. The dev is very active so far and listening to player feedback. No single player in this one, which for VR is kinda a bummer unless the game can attract a steady VR player base like Onward, which is no easy feat. There are currently a few big negatives for the release build I'm playing. First is no in game comms. For a squad based game like this, I would have really hoped to have it on release. Second is the game takes place in the middle of your playspace, there is no way to center the game to where you want to sit. I sit on a couch outside of my playspace, so I ended up kneeling in the middle of my space to play. This was fixed the day after release. There is now a center to sitting location option. Some positives too: Squad based tank battles are fun There is a discord to join for voice comms The dev is also on comms playing with you The controls are tough at first but they are fun and take time to master Price is right Overall I recommend this game. It's good enough so far and the dev is active and listening to suggestions. Once the two main points above are addressed, the game will be really fun.
This will be a keeper if others buy it and play it. There is no single player game at all. I have played about 6 games so far. There have been between 2 and 5 player games so far. I think the game would be better if the player only selects which side to play on and not choose both a side and a tank. Currently, you can play as axis but use a allied tank or vice versa and this can be confusing during battle with figuring out who is on what side.
Tanks VR is currently a very early access game with a solid concept and a huge amount of potential. I would describe Tanks VR as a VR Sim Lite, which does a great job of balancing realistic controls with great gameplay. Like most Multiplayer VR games right now the most difficult thing will be maintaining enough players so I strongly recomend joining the Discord, the Devs are very active and also great to play with, nothing like beating a Dev at their own game ;) Its also a great place to find people to play with and to use for communication until the devs are able to add VOIP into the game. Communication makes this game a lot more fun so jump onto discord when playing and strike fear into your opponents with your war cries. A note on controls, the controls are very simple but require practise to master. This is where the true greatness of this game comes through. Its quirky mini tank design disquises what is a deeply tactical game with a well paced learning curve which provides a lot of replayability. The recent additions of different armour levels on different part of the tanks and richochets depending on angle of shot adds multiple layers of tactics and decision making. Even on the relatively small single map available we have had many battles that play out in entirely different ways depending on each teams tactics. I gurantee you the first thing you will think when you start driving the tanks is that the drive controls should reset to stop when you let go, I thought this and everyone I have seen play this has said the same thing. My advice though is to hold off on this thought until you have played for an hour or so. The reason the controls don't do that is that as you become more skilled you rely on the ability to be able to move whilst shooting so you need to be able to leave the levers where they are. You also need to be able to stop easily though and what the devs have tried to do is find a balance to give you the best of both worlds. This current system needs more refinement but the devs have been open to ideas and are I am sure they will be looking into in the future. The reality of this game is that it has awesome potential but people who like it need to get behind it to grow a sufficient playerbase to make it viable. Either way though at the current price its easily enough fun to justify getting it and if you can convince a few friends to get it, get the beers in and you have yourself one hell of a fun evening ahead for less than the price of a cinema ticket. Pros: Great controls, with definate reward for learning and skills. High replayability even with limited content. Cheap price even if all you play is a few hours. Great Devs who care about there game and are open to suggestions. No game breaking bugs I have come across, clunky UI in places but played for several hours with no game crashes or major issues Cons No VOIP, communication is key but the devs have stated this as priority 1 Only 1 fairly limited map, Devs have discussed an open desert type map which will provide for a completely different playstyle.
I'm pretty sure the game is dead. There's no updates on steam anymore it seems.
In this review is what I experianced with the game regardless if its early access or not. Everybody will experiance things differently. Now onto the review. Tanks VR is a an online game where you get to drive WW tanks using zero turn steering. The game is desgined to have 5v5 match. To move the tank forward & backwards you move the left & right levers forward to go forward & backwards to go backwards. To turn left or right you move the left lever left & the tank will turn left. To turn the tank right you move the right lever forward & the tank will turn right. You have a lever that controls the cannon height elevation & a lever that turns the tank cannon left or right. Firing is a button & that is it, no manual reloading or anything. There is only two tanks in the game, American & German tanks (I think). Also I hate the idea of using a website (discord) to find other players. That means you need to leave the website open all day to the Tank VR channel to get matches set up. So basically the game is online only to play at the moment. I do not know if the developer will add bots or anything. I had bad luck with finding other players. My 31 minutes of this game has been sitting & waiting for other players. The game is cool & neat just wasn't enough players to keep me interested. Tanks VR gets 3/10 for me, it got so boring due to waiting for other players.
this game is so much fun, it is like vtol but for tanks, I would recommened it but you need to know when to play as the dev organises game sesions on discord https://discord.gg/VFbGWMY
I really like the gameplay in the tank there's just barely anyone playing it, so please buy thr game so there is a bigger player base, with players and a little more work, I feel like this could be a staple of vr games.
this has really great potential -just needs players hope it will evolve into something bigger with time -and with playerbase
game smelly and bad, devs abandoned big sad
Some of the most fun VR multiplayer there is right now. Really nowhere else even has fully VR integrated tank combat. Highly recommended also has a great community, join the discord! https://discordapp.com/invite/jxGSt3U
