I didn't expect much when i bought this game for not even 2 Euros but I really really love it now! Just get it and see for yourself for the price of a McDonalds cheeseburger. I browsed through this new "rexommended games" feature in Steam for "niche" games and thought that it looks really cute and let's be honest, 2€? What could go wrong. And in this case: nothing! I really love the amount of details the Dev(s) put into the designs of the little buildings. A small flower bouqet in the gazebo? Dog toys in the garden? Little birds landing on your decoration? A little rubber duck in the fountains?! Damn! I really loved searching for all the little details in this game in first person mode while I waited for my train to arrive 50 more times so I could get my last achievement done. Speaking of which, this game got quite the amount of Steam achievements and I personally loved grinding for them! None of them are really hard or difficult to archieve once you got your little city running and the cash flows in. As the description says "nothing bad ever happens" - which is completly true. You don't get any punishments for not meeting a goal or a request fast enough or having very low happiness - just rewards if you do well. This allows for the game to be relaxing but still rewarding. At least if you love unlocking new stuff and seeing numbers go up like I do. Did I mention that I love the amount of detail in this games? If you liked the little silly descriptions of items and people in the "Sims" series you'll love them here too. I chuckled a few times reading the little bio of my neigbours. Currently, the game has four maps and while the first one is mostly a plain meadow, the other ones are outstandingly beautiful, especially the map with the river and little mountains. Unlocking new maps also unlocks new buildings and decorations fitting the theme of the map. You'll also unlock different colour schemes, most of them rather cutesy or "funky" but really mix-and-match-friendly, surprisingly. I'd love to have more "earth tone" colour themes tho, more woody brown and beige. (And maybe some creepy black or even worn down stuff and cute-creepy new soundtracks? I'd buy a DLC for that!) I'd also like to mention that the Dev(s) almost always respond to questions or requests in the discussion page. I feel like they're really passionate about what they do/did and I'm actually kinda sad that they're selling this game for not even 5€ especially with all the love and details(and time!!) they put in this game. I really hope their game gets some more attention (currently 96 reviews) If you've read this far you should honestly just get this game at this point and support their work!
Cute game but no challenge. Building roads one by one was brutal.
I got pretty mixed feelings about this game. It is a city builder where you basically can not fail as you will always get more money no matter what and there is no way of losing money. You just receive quests to place down some specific buildings / achieve specific goals which you will all do eventually so it can get pretty boring as there is no challenge. You can unlock multiple locations to build your city in, there is a pretty good amount of different buildings and decorations each with 3 different color schemes. So if it was just for that it would be a decent city builder game if you want just something extremely chill, but the game gets let down by something else: controls. The controls are just ... annoying. It is simply just to slow and cumbersome to place down each individual building and decoration with no option to bulk pace except for roads and even the system for those could still be better. So all in all it is not terrible, but could be definitely improved on. The game runs on Linux with Proton (9.0-3) without any issues.
English + Deutsch Very cuddly + cute graphics and colourful buildings, I like that a lot. The game is a lot of fun, you fulfil goals and neighbour wishes/requests and get perk points for these fulfilled goals (and can then buy perks from these later) and income + experience points (XP) for neighbour requests. For each new level reached, new objects and neighbours are unlocked. To make neighbours happy, you need to place decoration in town. Unfortunately, there are always people who give a game a negative review even though they have only played a few minutes. This is not only totally unfair to the respective developers but also does not help other players in their decision to get the game or not because it is impossible to realistically judge whether a game really deserves a negative review after only 10-30 minutes or so of playing. This is definitely not the case for "Polyville Canyon" because it is very innovative and also varied. Of course, tastes differ but if players intend to give a negative review, they should be fair to all developers and play a lot longer than just 10-30 minutes. And this one here is even just a solo developer and I think he did a great job. He could also raise the price quite a bit easily because it is worth more than just 1.59 Euro.
so cute and fun, played all day and had a blast! ETA: this is now of of the few perfect games in my library. Prepare for greatness. Prepare for obsession. I love this game so much.
If you have ever played Facebook's Cityville game, think of this like Cityville but more cosy-ier, as there is no challenge and no money management (you'll still get money but no tax or payout, and no losing money). This is fun and cosy city building game, if you are looking to trying out city building games, and need a cheap one, then this one is for you to start off the city building gaming journey before you venture to the games that have challenges and penalties. Great practice to learn how to make a city and laying out roadwork for the residential, commercial and service areas, and the decorations are cute! As you level up you will be able to access to 3 other maps of different biomes if you want to spread out or expand and continue to play there if you want to have a theme at each maps. I had fun with this one and at its price, absolutely no complaint!
Such a cute game. I think I played for like 3 hours straight until I was already too rich and had like 20 of each building type. I enjoyed it!
Very cute and smooth for only costing $2. There is a surprisingly large amount of content for the money. About 7 hours total content for me. The look and feel of the game is worthy of a game costing $20.
Cute. Easy to understand. Scratches the city builder itch with none of the frustration of RNG. Entirely at your own pace. Soundtrack is very calm and nice. My ONLY suggestion would be to add the ability to place multiple buildings at once, with a button shortcut (eg hold shift and click). Everything else was very nice. Very nice lil game. Worth all 99 pennies.
Polyville Canyon is a really great city-builder, especially if you are new or curious of the genre. The game offers a stress-free and forgiving experience that has some great music, good UI and doesn't really overstay itself. I highly recommend this game, just look at the price and try it out for yourself. :)
