Amazing artwork. Amazing idea. Woefully unbalanced.
This game is really underrated and it's disappointing to see it still at Mixed. There is a lot of strategic depth and a ton of synergies to discover, with a unique dice/deckbuilding mechanic, a range of cores (granting abilities to individual dice) and very cool 'do X then flip to the right' to let you build up your own combos. I played almost 15 hours of the demo last year and have been playing it again recently. The biggest con is probably that runs often start out quite samey and repetitive during the first few hours of play, but after a few upgrades and unlocks you'll have more abilities (dice faces) to choose from, so the pool of rewards expands quite significantly after a few runs and a few upgrades at the lodge (the setup phase). Great to see the devs still supporting the game, having taken on board feedback, releasing balancing patches and so on. I truly hope more people give this game a chance.
An easy 8/10 CONS: - There is a little room for improvement on gameplay and tutorial (screen shake should be optional ) - Some card mechanics are hard to figure out and not very well explained - I finished the game in 12 hours of gameplay, i don't think i will play a lot more after finishing, cause even the map and the encounters are randomized, the pattern gets boring PROS: - One of the best artworks i encountered in my 30+ years of gaming experience - First 5-6 hours of playing one of the best card game experiences i had - The figuring out part is also a pro, 'cause it gives the sense of exploration - The great demo at start which tells us the little story is just optimum - Enemies you encounter are well desicned and randomness of map and dices are cool
The game is a lot of fun, but unfortunately, it’s plagued by game-breaking bugs—lock screens, corrupted save files, and other technical issues that really hurt the overall experience. At its core, there’s a great game here, but be prepared to start over more than once due to problems outside of your control. Hopefully, future updates can smooth things out.
So close and yet falls short. Difficult to figure out, and the encounters are looooong! It feels like a chore, not like a game. I am struggling with what I assume should be basic enemies at the very start of the game. Its not fun when you encounter a bird two encounters in who summons more birds who each do 10 damage without care back to back! This is ridiculous. Literally don't know what you could do to survive such high level enemies so early on. Its not about skill. This game just isn't fair or streamlined.
90 Hours In – Send Help. The Pigeons Have Won So there I was… minding my business, rolling dice, living my best randomly-generated adventurer life… when they came. The pigeons. Yes. PIGEONS. Not dragons. Not demons. PIGEONS. I’ve spent 90 hours in Tamarak Trail fighting eldritch horrors and surviving cursed forests, only to get absolutely bodied—repeatedly—by a gang of feathery sky rats with attitude problems and a vendetta against my entire bloodline. Gameplay? Solid. Strategy? Deep. RNG? Painfully hilarious. I picked this up on a whim and now I’m 90 hours in, sleep-deprived, questioning my life choices, and muttering “not the pigeons… not again…” in my sleep. If Darkest Dungeon had a baby with a cursed tabletop game and that baby was raised by birds who hate you personally—it would be this. 11/10, would get pecked to death again.
Loved the game. Really fun and challenging with interesting mechanics that I havent seen on other games. Just buy it.
Art and sound are what sucked me into this game. Love Slay the Spire and this hits pretty close to that but with dice.
