About
The northern tribes lived scattered across frozen valleys and harsh frontiers, struggling under the tightening grip of the Eastbornians — foreign rulers who claim the land, the harvest, and the lives of its people.
But something stirs beneath the snow. Whispers travel through forests and fjords — of shadows moving where no man walks, of ancient powers waking, of a storm gathering beyond the horizon.
In this prequel to Tales of Glory, you step into the boots of a young warrior rising from obscurity. Your task is not conquest — it is unity. Rally the broken tribes, defend the frontier, and forge the first spark of what will one day become the kingdom of Kvir.
The world is changing. And when the storm finally breaks, nothing will be the same.
Unite the tribes. Defy the Eastbornians. Shape the dawn of Kvir.
Fight with weight, impact, and physicality. Every swing, block, grab, and throw is driven by your own movement — no canned animations, no shortcuts.
Command squads of Nordic warriors in large‑scale battles. Issue orders, break enemy lines, and turn desperate fights into legendary victories.
Descend into ancient ruins, forgotten tunnels, and shadowed depths hiding relics, secrets, and things best left undisturbed.
Fight across snowy forests, burning villages, mountain passes, and fortified camps — with varied modes that keep combat fresh and replayable.
Experience a story‑driven campaign charting the rise of Kvir, blending open‑field warfare, village defense, dungeon exploration, and large‑scale assaults.
Customize, expand, and reshape the game with full modding support — from weapons and maps to entirely new experiences crafted by the community.

I've had the great pleasure of having been invited to join early Dev playtest team. Am I biased? Probably. Is this game good? Absolutely yes, and what there on launch is phenomenal and just the start for ToG4. What makes it good in my (trying to be as unbiased as I can, just have to trust me): I've played (literally?) every melee VR sword fighting game to date, and the armour physics and weapon handling in ToG4 (not to mention the weapon variety) is the absolutely best I've ever 'felt' and experiences in VR, and form the rest of the team HEMA-nerd or just a VR enthusiast, both enjoyed it thoroughly (for the record, I dabble with some irl swordplay (Japanese mostly), wouldn't call myself a HMA nut, but I know how blades/poles feel and handle IRL) - This is peak for 2026 and you won't find a better feeling game imho for the theme/gameplay at this time whether you're an enthusiast or just a casual gamer. It's empowering, yet challenging, brutal and satisfying in all the right ways. Can be modified and customized extensively to fit basically any sort of fantasy you can dream up .. and of course there is a modding SDK already working and essentially ready to go. To try to think of something 'bad' or a reason you might hesitated? (told you I'd try!): Honestly, for me it's mostly just that we still need to wait a while to get the Campaign/RPG mechanics planned (something I enjoyed most in ToG1 and all the other titles that put it in). That said, if your more of a simulator/sandbox sort of person, ToG4 as it stands right now is amazing featuring: Siege maps, multiple procedural dungeons maps (with working stealth and parkour-heavy), a procedural field/battle scene, villages, towns, etc. -- compared to arena/sandbox titles in the market to date, ToG4 by all counts is finished and complete on release and is a great time absolutely. If you prefer to wait for the RPG 'Mount & Blade' style campaign that's coming (he's already done this to great success in ToG1, ToG4 is going to be fantastic no doubt), that's totally valid too (and if I didn't love the combat so much, and got so invested in the development, I probably would do the same). Personally, this solo dev deserved every once of respect, and every penny he can earn on his titles with the amount of passion and dedication he puts into it (I mean his house was hit by a tornado the other week, and the next morning he updated the BETA with a trial tutorial - he's nuts lol).. AND most of all the results of that work are legit GOOD and his games (extremely diverse) achieve things so many other teams have failed to do. Good time to seguay, some expectations you should have: Note that each ToG game (1-4 now) he's released are only related by name - truly - even ToG1 and ToG4 having a similar setting, they were never planned or made to be the same game. ToG1 being low-fidelity massive battles where you command the entire army is NOT the same as ToG4 where you high very high fidelity combat and AI (and still a shockingly amount of active units honestly, I play with 100 at a time exclusively except for the Arena with minimal frame-drops on a GTX 4080 laptop) where you command a squad of companions, assisting a small army... oh and you're a Viking "ninja". So sounds subtle, but the difference is there and it plays/feels very different - ToG1 will remain fun and relevant in it's own right, ToG4 will do the same (and so does ToG3 and 2 even), just something to keep in mind before you dive in! Anyways, if you read this far in, thank you but you should just buy the game - You'll get your moneys worth now, and especially when campaign comes out next year to return to it; ToG4 is Peak melee combat fit for 2026-27 without a doubt, and on a scale you'd never ever see in other titles like B&S, Hellsplit and any other arena swordfighters ... good luck getting 100 entity in VR running stable in any of those XD

terrible optimization it runs laggy on my valve index with a 9070 xt. Also the weapon swinging is messy right now
Hi everyone, I've been playtesting this since the start of July. First off, I want to say how much I appreciate the Dev and the playtesting team. The amount of motivation to take the game further every single day was amazing. Tons of great ideas. I loved putting my heart into feedback and features. This game like TOG3 are my favorite Vr games of all time. That's just from the combat alone. I'm still about to head in and clear the official start of the early access build. Going to keep pushing the dev to go further. The dev was sending us new builds anywhere from 1 to 3 (or more) times a day. Fixing problems as they happened. This combat is great. Its truly amazing swordplay that doesn't lean into heavy fantasy. Its not a simulator, but its an ideal realistic, physics based faction vs faction war game with multiple modes. Pushing for a harder mode aka insane difficulty was a huge priority for fellow hardcore vr gamers. I know other's like me would love a physics based game to have some actual challenge. It definitely satisfies my needs and I'm hoping to still up it in smaller details to make the difficulty feel better without just speeding up the enemy. The weapons are fun. I've never had better in game feedback from blunt weapons than from this game. I pushed hard for blunt weapons to get an edge up from their original build. Shields are the absolute best. Two handed weapons feel like a threat in this game unlike other melee games. Usually 1 handed weapons are OP but this game aims for balance. The graphics look great and the control of your team with commands is fun. And we got arm swinging with arm swing high jump to do reach even greater heights. The biggest thing that the dev got straight was getting sheathing to be perfect. I'm beyond happy with it for this release. I could rant forever Questions welcomed. I might update later today.
Has potential but as of right now, it looks bad and the controls are even worse. Id like to see this games concept with Blade and Sorcery fighting.
its really good can't wait for the campaign tho
This game is EA and it already repeating Tales of Glory 1 Cardinal Sins. 1. BS MECHANICS THAT SHOULD OF BEEN DONE AWAY WITH. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, REVERSE THE FKING THUMB/Index FINGER/TRIGGER GRIP! DEVELOPERS - IN REAL LIFE WHEN YOU HOLD THE WEAPON ARE YOU PRESSING AGAINST IT WITH THE INDEX FINGER CURLED HARD AROUND OR ARE YOU JUST FREE HOVERING IT OVER THE WEAPONS HANDLES AND SHAFTS? WTF? REALLY? BLADE AND SORCERY + BATTLE TALENT HAD LONG SOLVED THAT ISSUE BY ADDING THE EFFING REVERSE OF TRIGGER GRIP SLIDE/HOLD IN SETTING AND YET YOU KEEP REPEATING THAT VERY SAME MISTAKE WHEN IT SHOULD NOT EXIST? WHO WAS YOUR GAME TESTERS AND WHY DID NOT SUGGEST SUCH EASILY ADDED FEATURE ON THE FIRST PLACE? 2. NEED MORE UNIT AVAILABILITY IN THIS EA! WE ARE NOT LIVING IN LATE 2010s ANYMORE! THERE IS NO NEED FOR THE HARD CAP OF 100 UNITS PER SIDE! IN FACT WITH MOD INJECTION M AND B 2 WARBANNERS EASILY HOLDS WITH VERY LITTLE TO NONE STUTTERING ON THE WIFI WITH OVER 1000 UNITS AT THE SAME TIME! 3. WHY ARE MANY CONTROLS NOT WORKING AS INTENDED? IF YOU ARE GOING TO ADD SPRINT WITH THE HAND SWING, WHY DOES IT STILL REQUIRE TO HOLD DOWN THE SPRINT BUTTON? 4. WHY DOES THE EFFING GAME STILL ASSUMES AUTOMATIC DEFEAT IF YOU FALL ON THE BATTLEFIELD AND NOT LET THE ARMIES DUKE IT OUT UNTIL ONE SIDE RETREATS? JUST BECAUSE COMMANDER IS DEAD THAT DOESN'T MEAN THE EFFING BATTLE IS OVER! GAMES LIKE MOUNT AND BLADE SERIES HAVE LONG SOLVED THAT ISSUE, UNLESS YOU GOT OUTRIGHT KILLED IN THE BATTLE INSTEAD OF GRIEVEOUSLY WOUNDED! Such simple things, this is EA release that seems to be going well, but why the basics are all screwed up?
Day 1 release review, Early Access. If you enjoy VR Melee Combat. BUY THIS. I am brand new to this franchise, and as a MASSIVE fan of the genre I immediately enjoyed it. The physics are wayyy better than I expected. I did not expect having so many enemies on screen run so smoothly, and the mass combat is wild. If this is Day 1 early access BUCKLE UP gang because it's only up from here. SO MUCH content is already available. I started with the arena getting my bearings in some 1v1 combat. Very fun. then took it to the larger modes, Conquest, melees etc. Storming a castle while my men were breaking down the door, wild. If chivalry was VR this is very close to that vibe. I have hundreds of hours, mods in games like Blade and Sorcery and Battle talent and I am pretty picky when it comes to VR and melee feel/physics. This scratches a brand new itch and the execution is very well done. Lots of Blood and gore of course! The graphics are very good and I look forward to more updates as the dev continues his work. Don't miss out on this one!
Really really great game, I never played tales of glory 1, but I’ve been playing VR for over 6 years now and this is some of the best free flow combat I’ve ever played with. The mod support coming too will be great. I do recommend further optimization though
Great game Nice upgrade from the original title
great game. great physics. physically demanding. enemies dont go down easily and their numbers can get overwhelming so there is a constant pressure to keep fighting. the enemies really do well to guard themselves so you need to take them off balance before you can land a good confident blow. the enemy gets put into a state where they are more susceptible to killing blows after being staggered or knocked down. the "weight" of the enemy can almost be felt. the physics are really very well done with the enemies and weapons alike. the "weight" of everything. it is very addictive and the combat rhythm can get very intense. parrying a strike cleanly can give you opportunity, but this also applies to you if you are parried so it is good to be deliberate with your strikes and force openings rather than striking nonstop. you can shout at your allies to make them fight harder and even has voice recognition for commanding troops. allies notice when you are dominating and make comments. morale can drop for individual enemies to a point where they drop their weapons and flee. fun, challenging, immersive
