Has one confirmed broken achievement "We've made it! " which doesn't work on the console versions either. The "Thirst For Knowledge" achievement is also bugged but may be unlockable. https://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/rugby-18/trophy/197975-thirst-for-knowledge.html I can't recommend this until they are fixed. Probably won't happen.
better than rugby 20
I hope the real game is more interesting, and has something else than jumping on the lying ones.
RUGBY 18, developed by Eko Software and published by Nacon, was positioned as a modern revival of rugby union in video game form, aiming to deliver a licensed, simulation-focused experience for fans of the sport. At the time of its release, there were relatively few rugby titles available on PC, which gave RUGBY 18 a significant opportunity to establish itself as the definitive digital representation of the game. With official teams from major leagues and national squads included, it sought to capture the authenticity and structure of professional rugby while introducing modes that would encourage long-term engagement. One of the most commendable aspects of RUGBY 18 is its ambition to replicate the tactical depth of rugby union. The sport is inherently complex, revolving around territorial control, structured phases of play, set pieces, and disciplined defensive organization. The game attempts to simulate scrums, lineouts, rucks, mauls, and tactical kicking with dedicated mechanics rather than simplifying them into generic animations. Goal kicking and basic passing systems can feel deliberate and satisfying when executed properly, particularly for players who understand rugby’s real-world strategies. Building pressure through controlled phases and eventually breaking through for a try can produce moments that reflect the strategic satisfaction fans associate with the sport. However, while the design intentions are clear, execution is inconsistent. Movement and animations often feel rigid, reducing the fluidity that defines rugby at its best. Tackles sometimes lack impact, and transitions between phases—especially during breakdowns—can feel mechanical rather than organic. Rucks frequently become repetitive sequences of inputs that interrupt the flow of play rather than enhancing it. Instead of capturing the chaotic energy of bodies contesting possession, these moments can appear scripted or static. This breaks immersion and makes matches feel more methodical than dynamic. Artificial intelligence is another area where the game struggles. Teammates occasionally fail to support runs effectively or position themselves intelligently during defensive phases. Opponents can display erratic decision-making, leading to moments that feel unearned rather than strategically outplayed. Because rugby depends heavily on coordinated team movement and disciplined spacing, AI shortcomings are especially noticeable. While experienced players can adapt and work around these flaws, they can undermine the realism that the simulation aims to achieve. Presentation is serviceable but unremarkable. Player models and stadium environments capture the general look of professional rugby, yet they lack the polish and visual dynamism found in leading sports franchises. Animations, facial expressions, and crowd reactions do not always convey the intensity of high-stakes matches. Commentary, though present, can become repetitive and sometimes fails to align perfectly with the on-field action. These elements contribute to a presentation that feels functional rather than immersive. The game modes offer a reasonable amount of content, including exhibition matches, tournaments, career progression, and a squad-building feature designed to emulate long-term team development. The inclusion of licensed leagues and teams enhances authenticity, allowing fans to take control of recognizable clubs and national sides. For dedicated rugby enthusiasts, this authenticity is a meaningful draw. However, progression systems can feel somewhat shallow, and long-term replayability may suffer due to repetitive gameplay patterns. Ultimately, RUGBY 18 is a title defined by ambition and limitation in equal measure. It clearly respects the complexity and structure of rugby union, attempting to bring depth and authenticity to a sport that is notoriously difficult to translate into video game form. Yet technical roughness, inconsistent AI, and lack of fluidity prevent it from fully realizing that vision. For committed rugby fans eager to experience licensed competitions and tactical gameplay, it can provide moments of genuine enjoyment. For players expecting the refinement and cinematic polish of mainstream sports titles, it may feel like a promising concept that required further development to reach its full potential. Rating: 6/10

Trash the Kings 54-0, didn't get a bonus point, ended up with a -54 points difference. Yeah that makes sense.
