A very very fun adventure. A bit rough around the edges but screams passion in almost every corner. Likes: • The story is quite simple, but intriguing enough to keep you going • Many choices to make that can shape whole questlines • Feels like Skyrim with QoL mods on top • The art is top notch • Arthur's voice acting is really great • The combat is fun, especially as a mage • Freebies! The game only has a single paid expansion and everything else is free content • The atmosphere of a broken and lost world is well crafted • TONS of stuff to explore and try beyond the main story Dislikes: • Performance issues that plague even the hardware more powerful than recommended • Unity Engine quirks • Builds instead of a class/spec system (personal quirk) • Requires clearing side content to actually become powerful • Some attributes/perks can be useless, highly situational or don't provide valuable enough upgrades • Some stuff requires resources for no proper reason other than to slow you down (can be fixed with mods) Really really hoping for a sequel (or a midquel (or a prequel)) that improves progression, fixes jank and provides content seen in other TG titles. The series has a lot of potential and for a devs' first attempt at a TES-like it's really great. LONG LIVE THE KING!
If you like Skyrim and other action adventure games like that with open worlds and skill trees, this is for you. It scratches that Skyrim itch while giving you a different story and world. By no means is it a 10/10 but it kills time and has some satisfying combat.
Oblivion/Skyrim leveling system and character progression, The Witcher 3 story, world progression and combat. I enjoyed the story, didn't encounter any bugs, the open world split in 3 (+1 with the DLC) zones is filled enough with points of interests without filling Ubisoft-like where the game turns into a chore and a checklist. The game is crafted with care, there is a lot of detail, the atmosphere feels really dark at times but there's also some light-hearted and fun stuff. I spent roughly 55 hours going blind, I'll probably follow a guide for the NG+ in order to unlock some stuff I missed because of my choices. My main gripe with the game is the character progression. There's a weird gap between the first zone and the second one, but once you reached the main area of the second zone, there'll be a lot of quests to level. I guess I did them all because my main combat skills reached 100 before properly going for the main story in the second part of the game. I feel like it could progress slower - I felt like the 10 or 15 last hours my character didn't grow much. Just a nitpick! Overall, this game is a nice little gem, with its jank of course, but what's not to like? Cohesive story and universe, good pacing, large number of builds, replayability, simple but well-rounded gameplay. On the technical side, it could be prettier but it doesn't really matter and it's good enough!
one of my new fav rpgs in a while since the big two lol
