Very good game. Fun , challenging I really really appreciate how frequent the checkpoints / bonfires are , like it almost makes me cry. Just makes the overall adventure such a fun ride. There are hard sections but due to these checkpoints I never have to worry about losing much progress. There is always one ( so far ) around every corner. Thanks Devs. Also plays really well on Keyboard and Mouse ( even though the game says Controller is recommended ) , so BONUS points for that. Going from one end of the map to the other , looking there are any side quests by npcs , it can get a bit repetitive. But I do not mind it just because of how beautiful the artstyle is. So many places where I just stand to appreciate the back ground details.
Tats the best game of its kind, i love it so much, graphics are really cool, fighting, story - everything is perfect
GOD
This 2D Souls-Like game has beautiful art, fine music, and great gameplay. The story isn't earth shattering good, but it gets the job done. Despite its cuteness, make no mistake that this game is incredibly difficult. There are times where the game makes it impossible to avoid attacks. There are also times where the game simply throws too much onto the screen at once and it's impossible to parry, dodge, attack without getting your butt handed to you. If you're into souls-like games, then you'll like this one. Souls-like games are simply not my cup of tea.
The story is very cute and I played far longer that I wanted to because I liked it so much, but the gameplay is pretty terrible. First and foremost, the combat sucks. It reminds me of a worse version of Salt & Sanctuary or a continuous quick-time event sequence. It is never fun to fight. Second, the structure is extremely linear and there is no point in exploring because areas are empty until the player accepts a side quest to go to that specific area. You can also only accept one side quest at a time, so the game forces the player to return to three different boards again and again just to take a new quest. Quests are called "side quests" but seemed to linked directly to progress, so it is strange to call them that. Overall, the game is a slog and not fun to play at all.
Tails of Iron is a great, short, 2-D souls like with lots of charm and beautiful art. While the style looks a lot like Hollow Knight this plays more like Dark Souls 1 or Salt and Sanctuary. (Sword and board, not a lot of platforming.) However, this game does not have any stamina constraints which makes it a lot easier than the aforementioned. It’s short and concise, there are not many maps so you will spend a lot of time running back and forth in the same places a lot, but I didn’t mind because the game is such a joy to look at. The combat is dodge rolls, blocking, and parrying. All the enemies have a universal symbol animation to telegraph the type of attack they will do, so once you learn the tells and get the muscle memory to react properly the combat starts feeling really good. I did struggle at first learning the ‘red circle’ mechanic. These moves are aoe (area of effect) but that area varies depending on the size of the enemy. So, you need to learn those from trial and error and pay close attention to your positioning when fighting large enemies. If you are backed into a corner and they aoe you are going to get hit. This is an RPG but there is no experience or levels. Stats are entirely determined by your gear, and there is a ridiculous amount of it (possibly too much). By the end of the game I found I appreciated lighter gear as it makes you move and dodge faster which is helpful for avoiding those pesky aoe attacks. It took me about 10 hours to roll credits, and another couple hours doing endgame content (which is really fun, don’t skip it.) By this point I felt like an unstoppable rat warrior, and I beat most of the end game bosses in 1 or 2 attempts. I look forward to playing the sequel. This is a polished game with a lot of love put into it.
