Would anyone laugh at me if I say this game is the actual culmination of all Sword Art Online games? Pros: - Great story - Premiere - Best combat (probably most fluid, 2nd to Fatal Bullet) - Diverse equipment building and simple yet innovative skill tree Cons: - Why only 4 skills? Why not all of them? - We still play as Kirito in the cutscenes. - Some maps are borderline copy-paste of the previous map (we do have a mini-map which is okay by me) - Sometimes, the controller won't work well on Steam so you have to setup Steam Input for consistency Other than that, this is probably the best SAO game I picked up (can't wait for Fatal Bullet) yet after playing the mess that is Last Recollection. Rating: 9/10
Not going to write a long review and my hours on Steam are deceitful. On other platforms I've got over 2000 hours in the SAOHR and several hundred hours in SAOHF and I'm getting ready to play them again. These two games are the peak of what this franchise has made as far as games that recreate the experience the show offers. If you want to feel like you're in SAO Hollow Fragment and Realization are the two games for you. Several others are good, but these two together are THE experience. 10/10 would recommend. Best Experienced with friends and extra buttons IE back paddles etc. and customized Steam Input if playing on controller. This game is definitely not a race, but a marathon so take your time and enjoy it.
