We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

Dead population unless you're on Asian times. Not sure how long that will last because it's not sustainable. Need 5 real people to get into games including yourself. No new content when the game has been out for more than half a year. All your playtime is constantly repeating the same exact raid and co-op quests again and again. Terrible as a new player and not worth getting into because even when you do get games, the 4 other real players on the quest are so overpowered you don't get do anything... The only period where that hasn't been the case is when season 3 started. The player base has been dwindling again after the first week of season 3. If you want to play, I recommend having a party of 4 + 1 queuing the same tier of content. They merged the servers all into 1 this update in April. The queues were fast for the first week of season 3. During Asia early morning-night you didn't have to even wait to find people from my experience. After the first week it got slower but continued to be playable. It was good while it lasted. The only updates this game receives are DLC characters and recycling the same content and pushing it up a tier to make it harder. Basically nothing has changed. So repetitive... This would be fun if it had more levels or bosses to go through and a stable player base but that will never happen at this point. There's no reason for players to stay and continue playing this bare bones game. It offers 0 variety and I'm not exaggerating. The only part I'm glad about is that they added 2x exp boost after the latest season began. I feel sorry for day 1 players that had to do double the amount of grind I had to do. There are achievements for getting each character to level 30. Each individual character takes on average 3 hours. Without the exp boost it would be 6 hours per character. There's 21 base game characters to grind. 126 hours without the exp boost lol. That's 126 hours of grinding the same exact thing. This isn't even factoring into long wait times. This game is so limited and you can't even grind those hours because hardly anyone plays the game... Reaching level 100 on a single character wasn't bad. That's mostly because the character I was levelling (Alice) had her birthday event which gave bonus exp on top of the 2x exp boost. I could also optimise her build instead of starting from scratch every first 30 levels. The boss gauntlet was good for experience because it took less than 5 minutes to clear and were the fastest queues. It's the only time I've ever seen 20/20 lobbies in this game. I would probably be a lot more negative if I played most of my time when it was normal rate of exp. It's mind numbing to think about that I'd have to do the same quests x2. It's not worth the price and I highly doubt the game will last for much longer. The gameplay itself was fun but it has too many cons to even consider purchasing.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 29: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I was hype for this game but as I progress more and more, the core gameplay starts to become the main reason why I don't enjoy the game. I used to play it daily until the moment I can access to Amber Maze or Boss Raid mode, I quit. The camera, lock-on, chunky controls, missing skills because they don't lock on an enemy and it moves, can getting stun without chance to get up, are the real enemies I have to deal with, it's very annoying. Not to mention, you have to deal with those while grinding for builds, cosmetics, or battle pass. I don't mind repetitive contents but they have to be fun, rewarding, and having least or no issue. SAOFD contents are quite the opposite for me. I was thinking of playing SAOFD just for killing some time but matchmaking right now is nearly impossible. I hope the dev will improve things I've mentioned one day. Fix the gameplay mechanics, input delay, chunky controls, stiff animation, that ridiculous drop rate, etc. As of now, I couldn't recommend SAOFD in the current state + the price.
Game is trash. if you want a decent MMO SAO game go play fatal bullet although that's died off with age. would not recommend even if its on sale wish i could refund it to buy something worth playing
If I reviewed this on launch my only issue would've been the asking price out the door, but that comes with the assumption that they'd spare no effort in giving you consistent, high-quality content every other week or so to dip your fingers into and work towards at no extra cost. Well that was true up to the high-quality part, I'll just list what they did wrong since the game launched, what mistakes made it worse and what they honestly should have done. First of all the cosmetics are, most of the time, recolours or reused from previous games of SAO. That's just really dumb, while free for the most part you can ignore that until the "free pass" gives literal recolours with minor modifications as the main reward with maybe an accessory. Note that these passes give two 'actual' cosmetics, I'm not counting profile elements here, over the span of a 4 week period. That's it. Granted, they release these packages with cosmetics in them, often themed after characters or events and while some are also reused or simple- they're unique and cool and sometimes coming with an in-game effect changing their ultimate skill animation for example. Unfortunately not only do these take 3 months a piece to even come out, they're not a part of said "free" pass. You have to either earn ONE ticket per 4 WEEK season, or pay some extra to get what you want. Do remember this game was full price on entry, plus the DLC characters all costing a lot individually. Props where they're due, there's a lot of cosmetics by now but they're still bland or just don't work in most cases since you can't change the colours at all, since the idea of making alternate colours a separate costume exists you likely have dozens of dead in the water options that exist just to make you look stupid. Secondly, the gameplay is actually pretty strong at first, every character is unique in function, achieve different roles, better at different things. They made each option meaningful even when they're in the same class. The animations are also some of the best we've seen in SAO's history taking their personalities and skill sets into account: Kirito maintains his position with large sweeping movements that flow into each other, he maintains a torrent of hits naturally and it feels really nice to chain attack after attack. Leafa's kendo is shown through strong singular strikes, with robust form and deliberate strikes and gains speed/strength while airborne which is a nice metaphor to her character. Strea, one of the DLC cast- who has basically zero references outside her original game which more or less used general animations all the time, has incredible weight to her attacks, letting her sword guide her along for the ride- with nods to her in-lore abilities as an MHCP in Aincrad that sells her as a powerhouse. That's all well n' good, all that effort is well placed and it shows genuine care but unfortunately the same 4 skills get old, and the only thing allowing them to change is barely unlockable and with the rate of updates it basically NEVER means your favourite character is getting any new variations or content towards their kit. Speaking of, Equipment. It's the main means of farming in the game. Your player rank controls what equips are dropped, higher it is, higher the level you do, the higher the equip rank. They come in multiple rarities and you can dismantle them to upgrade equipment up to +10: which is the short version. Legendary equipment however gives bonus abilities tailored to the character's weapon which is cool, it don't change much but is definitely the most exciting part. This sucked originally but they actually added a means to inherit abilities into new equipment so honestly fair to them. Sadly however until you reach max rank all of that is dead in the water so you're saving all of what you get until it's worthwhile to upgrade them and dismantle your old stuff. It's pretty inoffensive, but a lot more can be done, such as weapon accessories, or even effects you can earn for "prestige", they haven't though. Thirdly and probably the worst part if you read anything about the game is the player count. Now believe me when I say this game had 15,000 players PLUS going by PC numbers alone from its launch and beta test, that's cool- just hop in, find 19 other guys and let the good times roll. Unfortunately, remember I mentioned player rank? Yeah so that dictates what level of content you can do and forgive me not checking this but there's like 20 or so different individual levels, from rank 1 to 150. All of which have separate queues. This included with the boss raid modes which also have like 5 to pick from for different queues. Not enough? Well, region is a thing too. On EU? good luck. Switch to Asia and worsen your connection significantly for a room 'cause at this current time, playing at any other hour that isn't peak for Asian players is a certified infinite 1/20 players found. Credit again, the netcode is actually really solid in your own region, surprisingly so. Unfortunately it took like 2 months before I had to switch indefinitely to even get games at my rank. That raises another issue by the way, newer players will never find games due to the abhorrent splits to the point that the day 1 crossplay means nothing. They can't rank up and do the missions where players are since there's no one to reach the minimum necessary. Higher rank players can answer SOS requests to join in which is nice but it's just a bandaid on a much larger issue. So you might ask, where did all the players go? Well aside the combination of reasons I just mentioned, it's because that while the content for cosmetics and your literal REASON TO COME BACK didn't exist, they add like no new stages or bosses at all. Since launch we've had 2 bosses that are actually new. The others were just existing models repurposed, and the other "new" one was a tutorial enemy that wasn't already a boss because I kid you not it had two moves for the sake of the tutorial but nothing else so it wouldn't function otherwise. Story mode is okay, as in the story, the gameplay is horrendous it's just walking around doing single player stuff in a co-op experience- I liked the new characters and setting and it's really cool to see everyone interact who normally wouldn't. Naturally that was the main draw for me since I love this series a lot. Solutions: But yeah to fix the game it's actually pretty easy, first of all they make it free cause the player base is cooked, second they add 4 cosmetics to the pass where 1 is a recolour or whatever the hell they want and 3 of them are actually given time and care, also two tickets per season not one. Third is they unify the queues entirely, it's not that simple but there should be no more than three, split it three ways, and let the players who queued up VOTE ON A MAP RATHER THAN LISTING ALL OF THEM AT ONCE. Hell, make it two a day and cycle, anything to make it more streamlined. Same for bosses, three ways, cycle them as they already do. Fourth, every MONTH at minimum just add either a new boss or map to select from, ideally both- then remove one from rotation until the next season, that way you don't miss out on the cosmetics they drop. And lastly, every month, as a last bonus, choose at least two characters who gets a different preset of skills. Make ONE skill different entirely that you can swap out, and all three originals (minus the ultimate since those are changed with costumes) can be given different secondary effects that you earn with rank like how legendary equipment effects already work. This would spice up people's mains a lot and keep it fresh. Sorry for the essay but I can't recommend the game in this state, it has genuinely great aspects and potential with an awful live-service support system, every PR post is just a "fight this boss but purple for an ugly hat" and it's sad. I love SAO and fans will love the character presentation, but this game isn't worth it.

I should have listened to the reviews and done more research, but I got tempted by a low price, news of a "solo mode", and the general gameplay looking like a discount version of GBFR, don't make the same mistake I did. It starts innocently enough with the tutorial and the first story mission, right away you're gonna notice the same usual trappings of other BAMCO developed SAO games : Relentless bombardment of tutorial windows explaining one system after another before you have a chance to assimilate anything, and looooots of dialog (which thankfully you can skip), but ok, once you actually get to play, you realize it's a fairly simple dungeon crawler with decent enough combat, but then you reach the "lobby" and you see a familiar layout with multiple tabs and no less than FIVE currency types displayed at the top right, and then it hits you : This is a live service game! Complete with battle pass, seasons and all that jazz. Look, it is what it is, but personally I think that should stay on the f2p territory, when you put it in a game that you already paid full price for and lock content behind it, it's just disgusting, on top of also having a load of DLC and in-game currency that you can pay real money for so you can skip the grind. Now I could excuse this if the game was fun regardless, but it isn't, at least as a single player experience. The main problem is that once you venture outside story missions you find out it doesn't play like your regular RPG, it's more like a moba. Non-story maps are BIG, you roam around seeking quest markers that you must complete to finish the map, there's many other random monster spread around the map that you can ignore and run past if you so desire except you probably don't want to do that because characters actually begin every map at lvl1, weak and with 0 unlocked skills, you must kill monsters to lvl up, unlock your full skill set and generally get strong enough to tackle the quest and final boss of the map. This system sucks all the potential fun out of the game for me. Yes, there's still permanent progression in the form of equipment and "character rank", which unlike the in-game lvl is permanent but all it does is give you some meager stat boosts and a passive skill when you hit 30 (which will take a while), the 4 skills your character starts with stay the same all the way, there's no skill trees or any form of character building outside of equipment and those passives. Feels like this was done to facilitate multiplayer since it more of less puts all players in equal ground regardless of play time, but the lack of significant tangible progress is just lame. Oh, and the solo mode? Yeah, you can do the online content by yourself with 3 other bots and you can even switch which character you control at any point, but there's a few catches : -AI is very dumb, you're gonna be doing most of the work yourself -Since the maps are designed for 5 parties max (total 20 players) to roam around and compete against each other for score, you're gonna find a lot of down time as you travel long distances between quest markers -The stuff you do solo doesn't count at all for any of the events or battle pass missions, so you don't even get any of the cool rewards for your trouble. So yeah, it sucks as a single player experience, as far as action RPGs go the previously mentioned GBFR does a much better work at that. Maybe the multiplayer is a better experience, specially if you're REALLY invested in the franchise and can gather friends to play with, but given the basic systems in place, I highly doubt it.
5/10 Wait for a deep sale and play with friends. The game offers a respectable experience when it comes to its roster of 20+ playable characters (31 now with DLC characters included). Some of them you need to play additional stories to unlock. Each role, from Rangers to Supports, have their own unique pull, and the 20-person raids are a genuine high point that provides a level of chaotic, coordinated fun IF you make an effort to play with what's left of the community. Additionally, it's great that there's a number of cosmetics you can earn by luck as you replay co-op stages and boss raids. Nothing earthshattering, but it's a welcome feature. Unfortunately, the whole experience is severely hampered by a repetitive and dragging single-player story that you are forced to slog through just to unlock the actual multiplayer content. This feels like a game made in the 2010s, plagued by frequent loading screens, a frustrating camera system, and clunky animations that belong in a bygone era. Between the limited variety in both standard enemies and level design, this feels like a $30 game at best. There is no real innovation here, and it’s clear the baked-in microtransactions received more development time and polish than the actual gameplay content. Bottom Line: There’s some fun here for GBFR and Monster Hunter fans, but SAO Fractured Daydream ultimately feels like a low-effort live-service project that relies more on anime nostalgia than actual gameplay quality to justify its cost. Here's to hoping the upcoming Echoes of Aincrad has more polish. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3694799659
