This game is a blast from my 90's past. YOU HAVE MADE ME SOO DAMN HAPPY HAHA. Shout out to super robot wars taisen OG/STORIES as I never thought this series would be ported to America beyond that game.

Recommended As someone who has played a lot of Super Robot Wars over the years, Super Robot Wars 30 is both one of the most approachable entries in the series and one that shows some of its biggest strengths and weaknesses. The biggest change is the mission structure. Instead of following a mostly linear route, you're given a world map and can tackle many missions in the order you choose. Early on this feels refreshing because you're constantly unlocking new series, new pilots, and new attacks. The sheer amount of fan service is impressive, and seeing such a wide variety of franchises interact is still the series at its best. The gameplay is as satisfying as ever. Watching units grow stronger, unlocking new attacks, customizing mechs and pilots, and gradually assembling an absurdly powerful roster remains incredibly rewarding. If you've enjoyed previous SRW titles, there's a good chance you'll enjoy this one too. That said, I did find the game overstays its welcome. By the second half, my deployment list had become so large that many units rarely saw use, and new additions didn't feel as exciting because I already had established favorites. The open mission structure also means the pacing can start to blur together, making the later chapters feel longer than they probably needed to be. The story has enjoyable crossover moments, but it's ultimately serviceable rather than exceptional. I found myself looking forward more to recruiting new characters and seeing attack animations than to the overarching plot. Even with those criticisms, I still finished the game and had a good time. Super Robot Wars 30 is packed with content, respects the player's ability to customize their experience, and remains one of the better modern entries for both newcomers and longtime fans. I just think it would have been an even stronger game if it had been a little shorter and more focused. If you're a fan of giant robots, tactical RPGs, or the SRW series, it's an easy recommendation—just be prepared for a marathon rather than a sprint.
