Fun
I wanted to play this game before playing Mines of Titan because I wanted to get all the backstory. I feel like playing definitely gave me some backstory though it doesn't really feel like a lot of it gets explained until the end. Until then you do get some important backstory and a lot of notes about randos doing stuff around the facility. One thing I don't get is why this Mars base has so many pool tables and slot machines. Even outside the casino. Which...why is there a casino? I do like the combat to a degree. It feels like there's a lot of ways to go about it, but I stuck to a pistol/shotgun combo which worked pretty well. Tech progression felt okay I suppose. The 2nd tier facilities have 10 floors and I feel like it's only like that to fuel both the length of the game and to provide more materials for crafting. Sometimes it just felt like a slog because of it. Largely I do like the game. However...the last boss. I literally just gave up. After the 10th shot, I just gave up on that route. The dev does recognize the pillars had too high a health and did bring it down, but there's just so many and by the time I got there, I couldn't get any more mutant-related materials so making the drugs to keep myself moving was just out of the question. If I could use an item and it would still get used even if you got hit then I could probably do it, but there's just too much going on. Did I originally get what I set out to do from playing this game? Yes. Do I kind of wish I watched a video about the history (if anyone really ever made one)? Also yes. Still going to recommend the game though because I'm sure someone who is more into bullet hell games would love that part.
Initial setting is really interesting, but sadly its not developed that much further or at least it takes ages to get to anywhere thats not the same. Quite grindy, though I'm not sure thats even the problem in itself. The game should just help the grind to be little more tolerable. Like machines taking resources from train and every container having more slots to put more stuff in. Or how weapons work; Weapons use energy which is essential to operate. You will need lots of energy cubes to carry. Weapons also overheat and deteriorate. So you cannot shoot than maybe 2-3 enemies at once before switching to different weapon and you cannot fullclear a location without needing to repair your weapon at base. And weapons also feel very weak. Why all of these bad qualities at once? Shouldn't it rather be that different weapons have different setbacks? Overall, while interesting setting and some interesting ideas, the game is eventually not fun. I will also add that maps are randomly generated. Meaning that there pretty much cannot be anything interesting there, including but not limited to location specified enemies. As you realise that, the exploring just becomes a task of finding few special rooms from the mass and you stop expecting anything interesting. Thats the downside of random generation, even when size can be created quickly.
This game has you walk around a place doing literally nothing but searching everything in sight, filling up your bag with useless junk. Sometimes the items aren't displayed when you search something. The animation for a drawer opening will occur, but the item box won't appear. So you have to close the drawer and open it again and it usually works on the second try. Supposedly you can recycle all the junk for materials but I never encountered a way to do that, so I had to dump them all to pick up weapons. But I never encountered anything to use them on, so I may as well have dumped them too. I fought 2 enemies in my short time playing this. The tutorials seemingly pop up at random, and aren't helpful in the moment. For example one randomly pops up telling you how to upgrade and craft weapons at a weapons table or something. Good to know, but it would have been better to let me know that when I found an actual table to do so, not at some random time. And they tell you about charging oxygen and temperature canisters before you get them. There's repair tables too, but I don't get how they work. The tutorial didn't help, but going by the theme, I probably had nothing I could repair, even though I tried to repair something that had lower durability to test it out. I either have to sit around and wait for it to be repaired, or it can't be. Either way, it's dumb. Why can I put something on the table if it can't be repaired, and why would they make players wait for something to be repaired? Or why make it so confusing that it's not at all obvious what the answer is!! Also the ui examples in the tutorials look rather different than the one in game, so that doesn't help. Inventory is kind of organized, but it's annoying to use and unclear how or what can be equipped...sort of. It's hard to explain. I didn't like it though. To progress, as far as I played, meant searching everything until I found a keycard that would unlock some more doors. Eventually I made it out of the first area and reached a tram that could take me to way more areas than I would ever want to explore in this game...but only one was accessible. So I go there, search a bunch of stuff, encounter several locked doors that require keycards. I can't find these cards. I searched everything twice. I'm stuck. I'm bored, and this game is not good. I could look up a walkthrough maybe, but why? It's not fun, so why put myself through it? If they made it less tedious and cryptic it would be fine.
Compelling survival horror game that takes the survival part of it seriously. Interlocking systems of personal and map infection rates, hunger, thirst, sleep, slow heal times, stamina, semi-automated resource generation, map-scouring resource grubbing, research and crafting, and power management all combine in a pressure cooker where the clock is always ticking and you are always strategizing how best to use that time. It's criminal that this game isn't better known.
Дрочный симулятор вечных обоссаных коридоров с 3 типами противников, кучей мусора для лутинга и вечным улучшением всего подряд, мне нравится
Way too much backtracking and tedious grinding, broken up by the same repetitive combat.
