"Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom" is a somewhat poorly made turn based tactical game set (loosely) in some version of WW2. The game has you moving units like bombers, infantry, tanks etc around a hex based map to achieve various objectives while your enemy tries to stop you. Okay. It's been done before, a lot, and a lot better than this. While there's one glaring technical issue, the key problem here is just the game design. The missions and factions aren't respresented properly. The game is badly balanced and the scenarios don't make sense and don't play well. The visuals are very deceptive here and the rest of the game doesn't match. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While the graphics look okay, the developer weirdly decided to lock the number of resolution options you can get... now, if you have a modern GPU, you'll probably get a bunch of superresolution options (to render the game at a higher resolution than your monitor... brute forcing AA if you like), and these are the only options that appear, because the developer decided there's no need for you to scroll through the resolutions available to you. The upshot? You can't set the game to your monitor native resolution. Now, if you're gaming on a CRT, that's fine... but come on, everyone uses a fixed resolution LCD or OLED monitor nowadays. That kind of screwup from the developer isn't acceptable. There's also no UI scaling, so if you are forced into a superresolution, you can't scale the text back up. Not cool. This game features a number of suspicious, likely fake positive reviews. The reviews all appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and all have very similar wording and writing style, in Russian and English. Immediately after this huge peak of reviews, reviews (and player counts) for the game dropped incredibly sharply. This is highly unusual given the very low quality of the game and poor player counts. The "Positive" review score on this game should be taken with a large grain of salt. This might have been done to deceive/mislead gamers into paying for a bad product. The "Positive" review score on this game should be taken with a large grain of salt. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom" has the utterly unrealistic price of $40 (that's right, AAA priced, FOURTY DOLLARS), for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $40 asking price for this game could get you games like "Euro Truck Simulator 2", "Assetto Corsa" or "Mass Effect 2"... or pretty much any AAA game if you're willing to wait for a sale. That's just insulting pricing. Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Wasn't going to buy any more SM games but this was on a massive discount and needed to be to be worth buying All SM games are the same more puzzles than strategy The enemy spawns on at x turn or x trigger even if that means spawning a army right in the middle of your own army way behind the front line or in worse case scenarios they spawn around on even on your air base and if you haven't got the fuel to make it to a different one then that's it you just lost potentially your entire airforce It's just lazy work from the devs to save them actually making the game challenging , so be prepared to play a mission multiple times to see the spawn points , turn they happen or the trigger for them then replay it for a easy win with that knowledge The voice acting is a mixed bag from terrible to passable, often you'll get Russian accents on English generals and mispronounced words aplenty The heroes are hilariously OP, air heroes with the over run trait can easily take 3-5 AI squadrons out on the first turn and by the 2-3 missions you'll have 2 of those heroes The land or sea heroes are just as OP Very simplistic units, eg fighters just have a air attack value none are better vs tac bomber or strategic bombers or fighters like you would expect They do have a very nice slots idea where you add up to 3 different items to a unit, transport , flamethowers, mortars, radar and much more and each class gets some unique items But don't buy expecting the finesse of Order of battle this is more arcadey a even more dumbed down version of panzer corps2 where 2 or 3 OP heroes can win a massive battle on their own if you wanted to It's close to being really good but let down by a lack of thought to finishing touches All that said it's a worth 40 to 60 hrs and can be modded easily(unplayable for me unless modded) They seem to have learnt a lesson with this game and stayed away from expressing extreme right wing views in the side missions or cut scenes but only played the British missions for now so time will tell
"Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom"? More like "I'm Losing My Mind: Fight for Sanity"
All things considered, Strategic Mind is the best operational/tactical representation of units I've experienced. Weakest point is air play- Apparently in an attempt to allow fighters to intercept intruding aircraft, your antiaircraft units can "freeze" enemy aircraft in mid air (unless they are fighters that have used extra fuel to penetrate). The lethal tactical bombers force you to always cover your units with AA artillery.
Also schon sehr lange.
great game
Kolejna gra z serii Strategic Mind. Ikonka pogody wystarczy. - jednostki wykonuja zbedne piruety zamiast wybierac optymalna droge do celu Edit: Kampanie sa dwie: brytyjska i amerykanska. Najbardziej podobaly mi sie ostatnie misje w kampanii USA - w 1946r juz po wojnie. Najpierw wywalenie ruskich z Niemiec, a potem wyzwolenie Polski!
