review section is full of babies. this game is fantastic, creative and fun. played it on gamepass originally and beat it and since i refuse to give microsoft more money for that butt service i rebought the game on steam. its a very fun combination of platformer, rpg and puzzles. the only things i can say that arent good is the audio bugs here and there (defeat an enemy and its LOUD AF in one ear) and the last boss is kinda mid but the journey there is cool : )
Not forgiving in the slightest from the very beginning. If you like an unforgiving platformer (which it is 70% of the game) it'll be your jam. If you're here for the story or rpg, spare yourself the frustration.
No saves or autosaves in the middle of a long boss fight sequence, so if you mess up part of it, you can easily wast half an hour or more redoing what you've already done. Also, blocking isn't really blocking. It just does slightly less damage to your characters. Combine that with the healer being fragile and barely doing any healing. Extremely frustrating and unsatisfying game to play.
Here is the POV of someone who tends to prefer cozy games with a casual Hogwarts Legacy or Torchlight in between: For the first time in forever I felt the determination to try a hard fight again after failing. The fights tend to be short (longer when you're making mistakes) and even when it doesn't go well and it feels like you kinda already lost, you can still turn it around. That kept me motivated even though I tend to avoid games that require quick reactions. I recommend a Controller. And the art is just great. I also enjoy the exploration, though I wish there were more hidden paths to discover. Edit: In short the pacing is not well balanced. It's not for me after all...The save point distribution was good and fights USED to be short, even Boss Fights, but then there is the Boss Fight in the Sumeru Mountains. The first part of the fight is honestly kinda boring. I barely took damage but also only made little damage. Then you get a jump and run passage that can kill you and then the same kind of fight as before but Ajna is almost dead, so I have to keep healing, which makes it even more tedious. Next up another jump and run passage , that can also kill you. After failing you respawn before the entire fight and that was just too long. It really didn't fit the pacing of the rest of the game.
Indivisible is not a bad game, but it has a lot of problems. To start, calling this an RPG is a stretch. It's much more of a metroidvania with a party-based combat style somewhat reminiscent of jrpgs. However, there is next to no strategy or preparation involved in the combat, no character customization (in terms of equipment, abilities, or anything else) and leveling that doesn't seem to really affect anything. The only thing you can change is which character you use in your party. This overall makes for some pretty uninteresting and unsatisfying combat. In addition, the balancing seems very odd at times with most bosses feeling easy, but then you'll randomly encounter an enemy that will absolutely kick your butt if you're not careful. The platforming can be quite interesting in some sections, but quite frustrating in others. The metroidvania-style progression is great, but hitboxes feel really off, some sections are punishing for no real reason, and you'll be doing much more backtracking than you'd expect. The game however has some really great qualities. The art is beautiful and the music is pretty good. The story is nothing crazy but is honestly not bad. It's well thought-out, it has its twists and turns, and it does a pretty good job of weaving in all its characters and their development, which are all pretty unique. A lot of the dialogue is voice acted which I found really nice, but I also felt that some of the dialogue was useless at times, which brings me to one thing that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Without knowing anything about the backstory of this game's development, there were so many NPCs with useless dialogue that it was immediately obvious to me that this was a kickstarted game and these were NPCs from backer rewards. These add absolutely nothing to the game, no worldbuilding or anything like that. They just say some random crap. Sure you could just ignore them, but if you're trying to get invested in the story and the world, it feels like reading a novel where every few pages is filled with fortune cookie quotes. Game development is expensive and I think platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are a great way to fund them, but I think these kinds of backer rewards are a mistake and make the game worse. I played this on a Steam Deck and it ran fairly well, but the loading times were atrocious and I'm not really sure why. I did run into a few bugs and one soft-lock, but there's enough save points that I really didn't lose much time. I completed the game 100% in about 30 hours and it was ok, but there are so many better indie metroidvania and RPGs out there that I really can't recommend this one much.
