Nice game from the makers of Forward and like their previous game I like the mechanics in this one too, similar but a bit more deep and very different from similar games around. Highly recommended!
I wish there was a more nuanced rating in Steam. I unlocked every character and completed the story and village. This was a cute game, original mechanics, interesting characters and play styles but ultimately very poorly balanced. Dodge is incredibly overpowered, as it avoids all combat damage AND combat debuffs and can be triggered by basic components like sleeping or using abilities. So each run either killed me in the first zone, or made me so powerful I could ignore most of the battles as I farmed resources. Well, I also died at least once to each new enemy and curse mechanic as I learned how they worked. There's a wide variety but... I don't even remember being challenged by any of the bosses. Cute, but needs half of the talismans and relics removed and the rest rebalanced. For example, 2nd playthrough with the shape changer I bought a relic that triggered rest when using an ability. And another that gave me dodge when I rested. This nullified the uniqueness of the shapeshifting abilities (as they reset on rest), but let me play each battle until I was done farming resources. Much like with every other character. If you can't get dodge, then frost is nearly as powerful. The only limiter for most of my characters was the number of "basic" rests I could do which "usually" bypass shields when they cost health. There's two characters (at least?) that _by default_ don't even have those limitations. There's a comprehensive challenge system and the ability to fine-tune many options, but I expect they will not adequately target the semi-reliable paths to godhood.
cheeks be clenched. its surprisingly hard and punishing but at the same time you get broken out of nowhere which is pretty fun. some characters too easy tho. music is really good too good vibes all around
Fun game, 100% is quite the grind, but the story and additional characters are quite fun!
The path making puzzle is just not interesting enough
A very straightforward roguelike that is easy to learn and hard to master. I've only scratched the surface of items and their combinations. Instant favourite.
A nice roguelike cardgame from the developers of forward: escape the fold. I spent 65 hours to play it to 100%, it has no unfair or grindy achievements. You have a lot of characters with different starting decks, abilities and relics - so everyone plays very differently. I picked this up on sale and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes card games and roguelikes.
The pathfinding puzzle is fun, but it loses its novelty pretty soon. The mechanics, cards, relics, and monsters are pretty generic. It's hard to strategize because the impact of RNG is too big, and I would often find myself in a dead end although the run was smooth. And it's hard to call it a proper deck builder too — you don't cycle through cards fast enough, and it's hard to build meaningful combos and synergies.
Pyrene is a deckbuilding roguelike: build decks from cards you get along the journey then navigate grid-based card dungeons. Basically you move your hero card across the board to defeat enemies on contact, place support cards strategically, manage health/resources and pray for RNJessus. Great art style and high replayability <3
