Is is a simple game and relatively user-friendly, with the main units being the size of Corps or Armies. You can play without too much to learn before hand (even reading the tutorial is advisable). It is a bit repetitive and I do not consider it fantastic, but it is worthwhile to play MultiPLayer with your friends or strangers online.
Very enjoyable. Would recommend :)
I owned both the War in the Pacific and the War in Europe versions, and I was super happy to pick this game up. Lots to offer, a good way to learn about geography, politics, and the history of the time all while having a lot of fun doing it. Highly recommend, send me an invite for some PBEM!
Hi, I've been playing this game for a few hours, and I've really enjoyed it, but I have something to say. First of all, my connection to Slitherine comes from Commander: War in Europe for the DS. I was hooked on that game back in the day, and in this case, my biggest disappointment is that I can't defend France. I mean, in that old DS game, while it was difficult and you always lost Belgium and Luxembourg (when you gave Germany the advantage), it was possible to hold France until the Soviets entered. In this main campaign, that's not possible. I feel like Germany has too many buffs. I'd like to know if any of you have managed to defend France.
The map is too small. A map resolution like in "War in Europe" is needed. To munch money for what you get here.
The game not allowing the stacking/mixing of units is just the worst. One should have the ability to make stacked/mixed units that has armor/infantry/anti-tank/flack in the same hex. I understand that a hex because of logistical issues can only have x amount of units on it.
Great Turn-based strategy game, easy to learn but hard to master. For this price though, get it on sale. Its got great replayability due to the choice events, and a full playthrough will occupy you for about 40-50 hours.
Issues with ranged units (2-3 hex strike) firing from 2-3 hexes away and taking damage from non-Range (1 hex strike) units. BBs with 1 hex strike while CAs have 2 hex strike. Paratroopers with only a 6 hex range (Market Garden would never have happened). Portal hexes (e.g., 1 turn to Pacific, portals in the US) not working. New units not having researched upgrades. (Just to mention a few issues). Note: You can use the Editor to correct "issues", such as changing a BB from 1 hex strike to 3 hex strike, but you shouldn't have to do so.
nn tutte le unità sono disponibili ma compaiono dopo alcuni eventi. non vengono selezionati tutte le unita (Next unit) intorno al mondo e capita di perdere mosse strategiche. il sistema di combattimento è incoerente. e fatto con i piedi
Good game
