Early Access is limited to about one hour’s worth of content when I played it, but it does give a good idea of the scope of the full game - plus you get to support an up-and-coming developer on their debut game! So far I found the story to be well-paced and intriguing, paired with beautiful hand-drawn cutscenes that drew me (pun intended) into the narrative. The developers did the most with the time that they were given; dialogue is snappy, tutorials cut straight to the point, and story beats are delivered with an almost cinematic flair, interspliced between moments of high-energy action. Combat is straightforward but fun, with Gale subtly guiding you along as your personal tutorial ghost. The only glaring problem I faced was the stun locking, which I felt was a little too punishing at this stage. What’s interesting are the bits of interactive environment, such as levers you can pull to drop things on enemies, or barrels you can throw to deal damage. There’s also an element of fan service which was very very cute. With Early Access coming to an end sooner rather than later, I'm looking forward to what the devs have in store for the full release!
Me being amazed when Indonesian video games presenting qualities like popular international games. While the story and art is what made me wanted to delve deep into the game, the combat mechanism can still be improved further, as I find it fun to hack and slash your way while challenged by the surroundings. Kudos, Extralife!!!
This game has a lot of potential!
This is a really fun 2D hack & slash RPG where you fight gladiators with swords and guns. Art wise, this game has a beautiful 2D art style that reminds me of Studio Ghibli movies, the character and environment design is beautiful, the animation is clean, and the soundtrack is really good (i love the piano in the soundtrack, more plz). I love the mix of modern, steampunk and ancient roman theme in the game, somehow it fits really well. I feel like the sound effects (such as hitting enemies or shooting your gun) need a bit more "punch" to it, currently it doesn't feel satisfying to land a good combo. The sound effects for the menus feel "sharp", it hurts my ears going through the menus with a headset on, and the default volume of the ambient noise is too loud for me (but it can be adjusted in the settings so it's completely fine). There's still not much in terms of lore, but the small amount of lore in the current version is already promising. Gameplay wise, the combat is fun and engaging, the movement is snappy and responsive, and it's overall pretty easy for new players to understand. I feel like the enemies need a bit more balancing. For context, you start with 500 HP, the regular enemies can only deal around 10 damage to you, but when you get to the boss he can deal 200+ damage in one attack. For a tutorial boss, he currently hits too hard. For city exploration, the size is just right and the layout isn't confusing. There's some small grammar mistakes and typos in some of the dialogs but it's not a big deal. Overall, i see a lot of potential in this game. I'm looking forward for more. 8/10
Many things that took my attention from this game since the demo, especially the art and the story concept. The prologue made me want to learn more about the story from this game. Unfortunately, there's no further continuation yet in this EA version. Talks about the gameplay, it seems like the combat feels more comfortable compared to the demo, like the combat mechanics and enemies difficulty. But there's personal view that i feel about the action button, like i think guard button can be combine with action skills instead of combine it with grab button. Because i think it can be double function (i guess), example when you think the moments to launch action skill is not right you can still guard the enemy's attack. But anyways, the combat still fun tho. Another thing that could be improved, the player's objective list could be more highlighted. Also, at some stages, the character's color blends with the background so it lower the visibility of the character.
The combat mechanic is satisfying and the art style is an absolute yummers Been following this game before the major update and now it had improved so significantly, the devs really listen to the players. Looking forward for the full release
The storyline of the game deeply enhances the overall experience, drawing players into its immersive world and motivating them to continue the journey. The combat system is exceptionally intuitive, offering satisfying combos. Moreover, the graphics are absolutely stunning, elevating the game's atmosphere and making every moment feel visually captivating and enjoyable.
A pretty game, beautiful in a sense of older cartoons style, very colourful and interesting to look at. Combat are a bit basic in the first stage, but it's basically the tutorial so it's permissible and a hack&slash game. Found a view technical issues here and there but it's mostly my nitpicking and not a game breaking issue. I love the idea of interacting with the watching crowd, like taking a picture and giving autographs. It gave a sense of life into the world. The city is also good, full of people so it wasn't a dead city. Overall, a nice change of pace from the games I usually play. I would wait for the complete game. Cheers!
Pros: - Artstyle nya bagus - Combat nya lumayan satisfying - Skill sama equip nya lumayan banyak - Banyak barang yg bisa di lempar di arena Cons: - Masih banyak bug - Dialog nya masih banyak yg harus dibenerin( Contoh: kalo skip dialogue, cuma bisa skip 1 line tapi sfx nya ke spam ratusan kali; kalo keluar toko harus nunggu dialog NPC nya beres dulu>nunggu 2 detik> baru bisa keluar - Beres misi kelempar ke main menu bukannya balik ke kota, dan misi nya dianggap belum selesai padahal consumables udah pada kepake -Frame rate masih belom terlalu stabil, pas main di arena/kota kadang suka kerasa patah patah Overall masih banyak yg harus diperbaiki tapi untuk core gameplay nya udah bagus Edit: 1 tahun gk ada update, programmer nya pun udah gk dad di discord dev nya, jangan beli DONT BUY
This is one of the best games I've played in 2025. I've been following since it was just a short demo and was immediately in love with how much dedication the devs poured into this brilliant project. The story, even just the bit we could glance in the OP, is already extremely intriguing. The futuristic war references were completely beyond my original expectation, thinking this would only be set in a Fantasy/steampunk world. The animation is smooth, and I love the hand-drawn qualities everywhere. If anything, I do hope there would be a little more voice overs for crutial cut scenes, but even without those, what's there right now is already more than sufficient. The quality and attentiveness of this game is simply beyond so many that may have been developed by a larger team or with way more funds.
StellaGale, in its early access state, currently offers its first level along with some preview content which provides about an hour of game play (perhaps a bit more if you take the time to thoroughly read through all the dialogue). While the game is on the shorter side at this stage, it does a good job of introducing its core premise and game play mechanics. The game's visuals are definitely the star of the show, however its combat and storytelling could use some refinement. With further polish, I believe this game could evolve into something truly special. I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses!
