The Good: The gameplay feels solid. You can pull off some cool combos based on your character’s abilities, which gives a nice layer of depth. But if that’s too much, just mashing the attack button and dodging every now and then still works fine — so it’s fun either way. The art style really stands out. It’s all hand-drawn, which is super refreshing in a time where so many games lean into AI or generic digital styles. The Bad: The story is decent, but beating a boss doesn’t feel satisfying. There’s not much buildup — you just sort of get there without a challenge. Hopefully that changes in the final version. There are a few bugs here and there (to be expected in early access). One issue I ran into is the game freezing when using the LB attack combo, which forces a full restart. Seems like a bug in the way the combo or animation loads. Also, the music gets repetitive pretty fast. It’s not bad, just the same loop over and over. Hoping there’ll be more variety in the full release. The Ugly: Some levels clearly aren’t finished — missing assets, placeholder sprites, that sort of thing. t might be better if the devs lock those areas for now. Let players focus on what’s polished and working, like the core mechanics, instead of walking into broken or half-made content. It kinda breaks the experience. Overall: The game looks great and definitely has a lot of potential. Really hoping the devs take it further and make the most of what’s already a strong foundation.
Fell in love with this game's art style and animation, its really well drawn and almost looks cozy. Also a huge fan of the quick and intuitive combat mechanics, truly captured the hack and slash feel. The game has way more potential with Agareth's shops and locations waiting to be explored. Had a blast playing this game ^^
the hand-drawn art and animation are soo fun and full of life it's such a joy to play!!! 🌟 the premise and narrative seems promising so far, i look forward to the full version!!
it's pretty good
I like the art style, solid 8/10. I found the story to be somewhat not engaging; I had trouble getting invested after the prologue. The game could also benefit from clearer direction on how to proceed. I got turned around a lot, especially trying to get through the main city. The gameplay mechanics have some really cool ideas, but they started to feel repetitive pretty quickly. In the end, I only played less than two hours. The confusing layout and guidance made it hard to stay engaged, even though there's a solid foundation here. With all that said, the game has a ton of potential. Hopefully, the developers can use this feedback to make their next project even better.
Been keeping an eye on this game for who knows how long. Totally fell in love with the art style and visual concept. The Early Access build gives you around 45–60 minutes of content (you can explore longer if you feel like it). Visually, it’s already looking super solid; the character designs, the world, even the UI, all of it looks seriously great. Maybe the town still has quite a few placeholders, but hey, it’s Early Access, y’know? The core mechanics and features already give a clear idea of where the devs are going with this. The music’s nice too, though I’d suggest adding a few more SFX to make things feel crispier and more satisfying, like picking up coins or after beating a boss (some parts still feel a bit flat in that sense). Speaking of boss fights, they’re okay for now, but still lacking that extra [oomph]. Maybe add something to make the win more rewarding, like a flashy finisher move when the boss is low HP, some kind of instant-kill sequence. Just something to make it satisfying and memorable. But overall? Good stuff. Bugs? Yeah, a few: - Jumping sometimes makes you stick to the edge of platforms. - If Stella’s standing too close to the edge after a fight, the cutscene dialogues might get clipped or go off-screen. - One time I used the ult on Bloody Belly, and... the head was just gone. I checked several times and yep, head’s missing. 💀 One more note on the town area: when interacting with NPCs like shops or the dojo, I feel like the dialogue after exiting the UI isn’t really necessary. I smashed every button trying to skip it just to exit faster, lol. And the dialogue box is tiny, like, I didn’t even realize Bladr was talking at first because I barely noticed the text. Thought the game froze or something. Everything else about the NPCs is great, really. Literally just that little dialogue thing could use some polishing. There’s definitely more I could say, but I think most reviews here have covered the pros and cons already. Keep going, devs! The foundation’s strong already, just keep refining it, and this’ll turn into something amazing. You’re cookin’ real good, just add more spice, chef. 🔥👨🍳
It's been a while since I've played a 2D hack-and-slash game, and StellaGale reminds me how much the genre is fun. Not only it's fun, but also intriguing as the game is heavy on its narrative. It's also supported by unique and captivating art and animation it's visually pleasing to look at. There are some grammatical errors but it is understandable as English is not the developer's first language. However, I find the inconsistent and rather messy writing an unpleasant experience during my playthrough. It's as if the script wasn't QC-ed before it was released. Which is kind of a shame considering the narrative overall is already intriguing. Alas, it's still in early access, so there is still room for it to grow and become a better and more enjoyable game. I'm looking forward to more updates. Good luck to the developer!
This game feels good but with some improvement that can be made. 1. The control is intuitive and the combat feels good 2. I really like the art style 3.
