Full Walkthrough: https://youtu.be/gsWHrmCiKd8 ★★★★☆ Gameplay: Good, but sometimes i had to repeat bosses due to not reaching a save point, so i had to rebeat the third boss and repeating the cutscene and dialogue, also i had many bugs that froze the game, but many of them got fixed :) Story: Very Good Graphics: Epic PC Requirements: Medium Game Time: 5-7 Hours Here I will leave the cat, friends who pass by can pet it and give it a thumbs up /> フ | l /` ミ_xノ / | / ヽ ノ │ | | | / ̄| | | | | ( ̄ヽ_ヽ)__) \二つ
I've played for about 7 hours now at the time of review. I have finished what story there is in the Early Access but I haven't explored the entirety of the map yet. Need to backtrack with my new abilities and see what secrets can be found. So far I love the game, the voice acting, the story, the gameplay, the atmosphere, the graphics, all amazing. I have come away with so many quotes that stick in my head, I find myself quoting them to people as if they're from an old film we should all recognize. My only negatives are those damn Medusa heads from Castlevania! Grrrr. Other than that my negative is that I need more. Can't wait for the first content update. Keep up the good work, Gentlemen.

If you like a cringe-inducing Narrator and Vaseline-smeared grafix you'll love Steam Dolls. Gameplay is so mid it's grim. Oh well. I don't even remember why or when I bought this... don't be like me.
I'm the first one to admit that I'm not amazing at Metroidvanias and often either play overly cautious and take too long to get from point A to point B followed by a reckless streak of insane jumping that gets me killed at the last second, but my first stint on the early access version of SteamDolls was a lot of fun! The controls tend to be very responsive, but not hair-trigger enough that the 'stickiness' of my movement stick causes any traversal issues. The dialogue is both functional and witty. There are times it made me laugh, times that made me think, "Well that's clever," and times I went, "Whisper and I, same page." It never comes off as Marvel-esque or a punchline for the sake of deflating tension before it's ready to burst, which can be a difficult note to hit. The delivery of the voice lines for the main cast is absolutely stellar and sells even lines as lampshadey as "I hate tutorials." Haven't completed all of the story yet so I'll keep silent on that, but I'm very much looking forward to more.
After years of (frustrating) waiting, there's finally an offical release of this steamdolls game. Albeit in EA, for me it clearly shows a great amount of dedication from the team (the same 2 people since the beginning, can you imagine that ??). This is clearly a labor of love and a love letter to the genre in the making. So, the game as it is now. Yes it's a little bit rough around the edges and still needs some polishing. BUT I think this is clearly taking shape and I have no doubt *NOW* that almost all of the quirks will be ironed out in no time (already 2 patches released since the beginning of the EA). It has not always be the case as I played the demo with a friend a few months ago and we where both really disappointed. Right now it's clearly playable and enjoyable. This kind of "almost there" vibe, unlike the demo on the day of release. My real only gripe right know (knowing it's still in EA status) would be the price for non backers like me. But honestly, loving the game style as much as I do I think I would have paid for it if I wasn't a kickstarter og. And at least I know I support two guys with a passion instead of some disgusting AAA studio (not giving names) Enjoying the story so far and can't wait for the final product.
It's a really unique and rewarding metroidvania so far. It definitely earns it's Early Access label with a slight bit of that pre-release jank, but I'm just happy to support the development of a game that is truly offering something unique and new to my favorite genre.
Played the start up to the first boss. Seems very promising so far, I enjoy the atmosphere and the characters very much. Will play some more and update my review later but "I have a good feeling about this!"
Well it's finally here! Several years ago I played the Steamdolls VR demo and instantly wanted more. I even bought the comic books! But then The Shady Gentlemen decided to change directions with the game and went for this awesome side scrolling metroidvania model. This game has everything you would expect! Smooth as butter game play, Amazing art work/style, great music and the cherry on top is the voice work of David Hayter and a couple others from the MGS universe! I've only played a couple hours so far but I can already tell you that this is a must have for fans of this genre of game. I love that you can alter your play style from balls to the walls speed and death to devious stealth. I've only collect a couple of the power ups but they are impactful and definitely make things a bit easier. This is a game that would be perfect for the Steamdeck or other handhelds as well.
The only reason why I'm not giving this a thumbs down is because it's an indie game that's still under development. The controls are clunkey. I didn't get far until I saw it as a problem. Enemies have a limited set of moves and have too much health... I don't know if I'll continue playing this game, to be honest. I saw some interesting stuff, and I saw crap too... So, I hope the devs work it out
