About

The population of the harsh desert planet Kwalasha needs our help. Their peaceful lives, working in the mining industry, have been disturbed by a threat that they cannot face alone: the Arachnids. Under Colonel Hawthorne’s command, the Mobile Infantry will take back control of the planet and smash everything that has more than two legs. Enlist in this exciting military campaign, meet inspiring characters, visit amazing locations and do your part in the heroic war against the Bug!

The Arachnids may have virtually limitless numbers, but they lack the thorough tactical training that the Mobile Infantry enjoys. Position your units in advantageous choke points or on higher elevations. Be wary, however, that battle mechanics such as True Line of Sight and True Line of Fire may limit your field of fire and allow the treacherous Bugs to lay in ambush.

Optimize your army by choosing from a wide range of specialized unit types, each with its own strengths, weaknesses and set of unlockable elite abilities. Rifle Troopers can use their shotgun ability to hold back large numbers of Arachnids, M11 Marauders bipeds can unleash a withering mortar barrage and the Fleet Liaison can call down dropships with reinforcements or direct an airstrike to wipe out whole swaths of enemies.

The Bug infestation is rooted in elaborate underground hives. These present a unique challenge that demands a delicate balance between aggression and defense. Beware of the numerous tunnel openings, from which hordes of Arachnids can emerge.
To eradicate the Bug problem for good, their nests must be eradicated!

This is a good RTS overall; stylistically it looks a lot like Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars down to the rifle and rocket squads. Most people that rate this game negatively are generally upset because there is no base-building, no resource extraction/mining to build large armies, and no multi player. In ST - Terran Command the bases are already set up (defensive walls and all) and you only select base upgrade nodes on pre-placed hubs to gain access to different units. You can pick up supply caches in the campaign missions but these are also pre-set and finite so you only can extend your force by 1 or 2 squads with each pickup; each campaign mission is really about the fulfilling the mission objectives (not base building) with a small squad of various soldier types against overwhelming hordes of alien arachnids (similar to the 1997 movie). So the strategy in the game lies in picking out a select few unit types, and methodically moving them across the map and into favorable combat positions (higher ground, bottlenecks, etc.) to defeat larger numbers of enemies. Also, your squads are living on a knife edge, because they are so outnumbered that one wrong move will (or position) will destroy your squad, this makes the game both challenging and fun. Truthfully this game is much better than any Command and Conquer title on actual real-time strategy (troop movements, positioning, and unit choice) in order for a smaller force to beat a larger one; in the C&C titles the larger army always won, and by extension, this meant whoever mined the most minerals won. In Starship Troopers Terran Command strategy is much more important due to the limitations in force size and strength against superior numbers. Think of ST- Terran Command like the Command and Conquer missions where you couldn't build a base and started with only a set number of troops; in order to win you had think about how best to deploy your limited forces. There are some annoying glitches in this title, such as your troops shooting through obstacles in the environment (rocks, cliffs, etc.) to kill enemies, overall it's not a game-killer but it is noticeable and impacts game-play. Also, there are some troop movement glitches too in this game, but they happen so infrequently that it also is not a game-killer. Also, the campaign missions (single player only) do get a little repetitive; 1.) take out the bug hives, 2.) regroup as an attack wave of bugs comes in retaliation, 3.) Defend your main base with your sparse forces against the horde, in the first campaign there are like 5 or 6 missions with that above formula. Also, the base game and all the DLCs are quite costly ($40 to $50), you can pick up the base game (with the first campaign) pretty cheap on the second-hand steam key market, if you like the game you can pay more money for the additional campaign DLCs. Overall, it's a good first effort at a unique RTS and I hope to see a second installment sometime soon.

I actually do like the game but the pathing ai is so bad in this game I can't recommend it. You will watch as you squads clump, stop shooting, and die so many times and its just not worth the rage. If you try to use big units they will get stuck on your infantry and do nothing until they are being swarmed and die. I never played an rts where I felt like the humans had bigger death wishes then the hive minded insects until this game. It's impressive how much they wanna die. If you can get past that you'll have a good time though.
There are workshop mod that allow you to play as the bug ... if you a traitor!

RTS in which base building is really basic and the focus is on correctly working with your squads and vehicles. Shooting thousands of bugs is real fun and you get that feeling of fighting against never ending hordes of arachnids with a dim hope that maybe just a few men will survive. Como general sou uma ótima profissional de marketing. Game maneiro pois tem dificuldades aceitáveis até pra pessoas completamente sem raciocínio lógico como essa que vos fala. Além de MUITO conteúdo.
I don't think I've ever seen an RTS game capture the spirit of an older movie as well as this game has. Would you like to know more?
Solid oldschool RTS. Spirit of the movie is captured in a perfect way.
I love the Starship Troopers movie and had high hopes for this game. I was really looking forward to strategic game-play and a kind of "kill them all" experience as you fight off endless waves of tatic changing bugs. I was expecting something closer to a fleshed-out Command & Conquer or StarCraft-style RTS. Unfortunately, the game disappointed me almost immediately. Before I could even get invested, I was being reminded about DLC I didn't own, which gave me a bad first impression. The gameplay itself felt repetitive, restrictive, and surprisingly boring. Move your troopers a little wait till they kill the next lot of bug, repeat. I never felt like I had much freedom in how I approached missions, and it never really captured the chaotic atmosphere that made Starship Troopers so memorable. One thing that made me laugh was the manned heavy machine guns. Apparently, humanity can travel across the galaxy, but they still haven't solved the problem of machine guns and weapons overheating. Watching soldiers stand around helplessly getting killed while waiting for their weapons to cool down often felt more frustrating than realistic. What really hurt the experience for me was the lack of meaningful strategy. They state it's a RTS game but compared to other RTS games, the tactical options felt very limited. Combat often feels scripted rather than dynamic, with missions constantly telling you where to go, what to capture and what to do instead of letting you come up with your own fun solutions. There is also very little meaningful base-building, which was disappointing considering I was expecting something closer to Command & Conquer or StarCraft. Many missions felt more like puzzles with predetermined solutions than open-ended strategy battles. Rather than adapting to changing situations and creating your own tactics, it often felt like the game wanted you to complete objectives in a specific way. This made the game-play feel restrictive and reduced replayability. As a fan of the franchise, I think the developers should have focused more on making the game-play fun, strategic, and replayable rather than pushing additional DLC. The game has the Starship Troopers name, but it lacks the strategy, excitement, freedom, and scale I was hoping for. Sadly, I ended up requesting a refund and uninstalling the game. My expectations may have been too high, but this was a major disappointment.
