About
Stars End is a player-hosted/solo sci-fi survival sandbox set hundreds of years in the future, in a star system colonized by humans escaping a dying Earth. What was meant to be a second chance has become a lawless frontier — a place where every scrap, bullet, and building must be earned.
Out here, you’ll wrangle resources from dangerous planets, fend off alien wildlife (watch out for bears), and build your own base — be it a frontier shack or a fortified space station. Explore procedurally generated worlds on foot, horseback, or by starship, then blast into orbit and continue the fight in space.
Play solo or host your own server as you stake a claim in a persistent galaxy where survival is tough, but freedom is yours to take. Whether you're settling the land or raiding for loot, Stars End gives you the tools — and the grit — to shape your own path.
Procedurally Generated Planets – Each world is unique, with varied biomes, threats, and resources to uncover.
True Survival Experience – Battle alien wildlife, endure hostile environments, and scavenge for the materials needed to stay alive.
Build Your Base, Your Way – Construct rugged cabins, fortified outposts, or advanced space stations with a deep crafting and construction system.
PvE and PvP Combat – Engage in tense FPS-style battles against AI factions or rival survivors.
Explore Land and Space – Traverse the terrain by vehicle or horse, then seamlessly launch into orbit aboard your personal starship.
Solo or Player-Hosted Servers – Play alone, with friends, or open your world to others via custom servers.
Persistent Open World – Build, explore, and take on story-driven missions across procedurally generated planets in a sci-fi sandbox.

Abandoned. Another early access game that exemplifies why we should wait for full release. Pathetic.
It's as though whoever developed this game just found whatever assets they could use (sci fi, 20th century roads, cowboys etc.) and then threw them willy nilly into the world because this game doesn't know what it wants to be. I'm usually a fan of, and have a lot of time for these kinds of Indy projects but there is no coherence to this game whatsoever which makes it jarring to play and gives it a very cheap feel overall. Let me give an example with a similar (better) game: Empyrion Galactic Survival, in that game you crash land on a planet and you have become disconnected with your fleet, which is why you have to build everything back up from scratch. The devs in that game at least spent more than 5 minutes thinking about what universe they were creating and what the logic would be so what you were doing made some kind of sense. In Empyrion you explore virgin worlds and sometimes there are ship wrecks dotted around, sometimes there are alien settlements BUT IT ALL MAKES SENSE AND FITS IN TOGETHER. Not this game however. In this game, you get sent by a large highly advanced ship/station to land on the planet and told that you must start foraging like a cave man from scratch. Why? Because reasons. You're walking around this landscape that doesn't know if it wants to be a new world terraforming project, or a racing simulator (nice modern style 20th roads are just randomly in the middle of the map right next to a super futuristic rotating thingy that randomly rotates out of the ground again for reasons). This is one of the few Indy games that would benefit from SIMPLIFICATION. Make the game make sense guys! Either ditch the advanced infrastructure and make it a build yourself up from scratch game or keep the cities and 20th century roads and cowboy stuff etc. and try to figure out what you want this game to be! My advice would be to turn it into a crash landing style game and then land in an uninhabited planet, that would at least make the game more sense if you want to do the whole foraging from scratch business. On top of this, the game just doesn't play very well at all, But before these aspects of the game are upgraded, the games needs to have some kind of coherent concept.
Abandoned EA Game.
Do not buy this game.
worst game of all time, you can buy toilet paper instead, which has more value than this game
I do give this a thumbs up, because there is no neutral option. 10 or perhaps 20 years ago this would have been a really good game and I would have loved to play it. You start with the creation of axes and bows and campfires from wood and stone and materials like that. You have to get water to drink and food to eat, hunting, fishing or buying are options at the start. You can upgrade all the way to a point where you create a space ship, craft good weapons, grow food inside your space ship or one of your bases and conquer areas where you then can build machines and buildings otherwise impossible. You travel to space and even to other planets and moons to get certain resources, you can of course create bases there too. Many things that are hard and feel like punishment can be done easily another way mid or late game. Like getting water. In the beginning you need to go to a water source, probably kill animals around it, get hurt, heal yourself, kill more animals and then finally get dirty water into your empty bottles. Then you can use a camping fire to create clean water from these bottles. Later you just put a machine into your base or spaceship which will fill your empty bottles with clean water. Better mining tool, better weapon, better everything... upgrading is possible and you feel the difference. But. Yeah, there is a but. To be honest, there are are multiple buts. The game uses the Unity engine. And no, not like one of these games where you ask "is it really using Unity?". Nope, this is like "Oh, yeah, Unity Engine, no wonder moving and using machines and closing doors feels like I am 40 years back in time". It is just bad. Walking is no fun, getting resources with the beginner axe/pickaxe is no fun, shooting with the bow is not really fun. Looting dead animals works, but you have to move around the animal until you get the loot option. After a while the parts from felt trees vanish and if you are using your saw at that moment you are stuck in the sawing animation. You have to go to the main menu and reload the game to get rid of it. Even in single player you can get a server disconnect. No joke. :-( I kind of hate to say this, but there are other games which are feeling better when you control your character. If you "just" want survival, then ARK:Survival Evolved, Conan Exiles, GRAV or The Front are all better choices. If you want space ships, then Empyrion:Galactic Survival or No Man's Sky can do the trick. I REALLY hate to say this, but even Terraria and Starbound are more fun. But, like Wurm Unlimited, some games are no crowd-pleasers, have problems, but for some people they are THE game they were looking for. This game might be it for you. It is not really bad and it has some interesting features and things to build. So... if you are looking for a game where you can go from wood and stone to other planets and don't fear the grind to get there and old graphics and Unity's bad movement don't drive you away, give it a try. If you are looking for a game with 2025 graphics and good controls, skip this.
had hopes but game is dead do not buy
Game was abandoned. Shouldn't even be listed on steam anymore. Do NOT purchase this game. You have yourself to blame if you do otherwise.
