Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 22 → 1.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Great tactics based game.
This is a great game. Your tiny ship is flung into an unknown universe with no way back. You will explore the new universe, collect resources, meet alien species who have their own agendas, and research new technologies to survive and make your way back home. The story is really good and felt like watching a whole season of a favorite sci-fi series. I will say that the story is mostly something you discover rather than something you create interactively. There are a couple of choices you can make, but nothing major. There's a ship designer where you build new versions of your ship, incorporating new technologies you discover. I was skeptical about ship building at first, but by the end I really enjoyed it. There is a huge amount of choice as to what weapons and defenses you use. I never even installed a shield generator on my ships, but instead had a flying tank with a lot of armor through the game. There are enough things to consider to make ship design fun (like space limitations and heat management) without being overwhelming or boring. The combat is really fun as it was basically a twin-stick shooter for me for a long while. You can damage specific parts of alien ships (which then stop working well) or even blow them off the enemy ship entirely. I never got bored of the combat, even when it ended up being pretty trivial for me. Also, the run time felt just right. This is a meaty game, but it ended right when I was ready to move on to something else. However, there are a couple of rough edges. The main one is that in some missions it wasn't clear what I needed to do next to proceed. Sometimes this was because I just needed to wait for the next part of the mission to unlock organically. Other times, I missed a detail in some text that would have pointed me in the right direction. But there were a couple of times where I was just stumped and had to look up a guide. Lastly, I played on the Steam Deck (runs perfectly, BTW) using the gamepad layout. This worked great everywhere except in some menus. It's too wordy for me to explain exactly, but I often had to do non-intuitive things to get the selectable option I wanted to select highlighted. It was a minor nuisance throughout, and will probably be true on the PC if you're using a gamepad. At the end of the day, I enjoyed this game so much that I would give it an 8/10. If the rough edges were smoothed, this would easily be a 9/10 game for me. I look forward to whatever this developer does next.

This game is a significant improvement on Starcom: Nexus. Without mimicking what others have said. I'll keep it short and to the point. This game reminds me of the old text based games with the pictures, and you could select multiple options and it was so exciting. This is similar, you get that nostaglic hit (without chasing it), and it just fits in here really nice. This game feels quite melancholy, which I think fits the mood very well. The game map markers, dialogue with crew mates, specialties/traits that you use on mini missions, significantly better ship building. This game is fun and way less hand-holding than Nexus. That's not a bad thing. This game has more care and thought into it than multiple games put together. It has quite a thrilling gameplay loop. If you're in doubt and this game is on sale, buy it.
(2nd edit, truly f this game. It actually tells you "you wasted your time playing this" as a joke. Why would they do that??) I never ran out of things to do in Nexus and still considered it dull, that's not the case here. I guess it's the original, and sure "You just need to figure it out" but if I'm bored more than half the time playing, what's the point? I was so desperate for something to do I flew to the big white nebula hoping for SOMETHING, but that was a huge misake and it took 3x as long because I guess it "slows down the nav system", so 20 minutes of NOTHING followed by 10 mins between the few systems it has (and only one 2-way portal), I was rather upset. Why play a game that is almost guaranteed to upset? Anyway, I don't regret buying or playing the game, it has its moments but I don't think I can recommend it. Which is why there should be more ratings systems than that. (Edit: no it's the sequel! Or at least newer, so now I like it even less! It has fewer upgrade options and the rest are just the basic ones Nexus had! Plus the story is way less compelling, hell I'm not even sure WHAT the story is. "We gotta find a way back? Maybe not?" The Nexus story was almost original but at least it had one and it did it well. I'm at a total loss on this one)
light work
A shame there is no mod support. This game would go hard with late-game expanding mods
I liked story of the first game more. But this one is good too. Lots of fun, actually!
Amazingly fun game! Worth the money
This is close to capturing the magic of StarControl but it isn't quite ambitious enough. The Game Mechanics are mostly solid and a big step up, but the story and the aliens were kinda bland and the endings are disappointing. That said, I enjoyed the majority of my time in the game, but perhaps not enough to replay it in the future. Get this on sale and it's a great bargain.
This turned out to be a really cool game worth the price, which is rare for this old gamer from the 80`s. I feel like I`m getting to the end of the story though which is a bit disappointing as there wont be anything left to do after. I only wish it were 10x bigger with more factional warfare and bigger variety of EVERYTHING! Its like the classic arcade Asteroids game mixed with StarFlight from the Sega Genesis, playing it of the hardest difficulty is actually the most fun. I would preorder Starcom 2 just because this one was as good as it is compared to so much disappointment over the years from new games.
