WARNING: AVOID THIS CASH GRAB
Barely even qualify as a game. It costs 40$ but isn't even worth a single 1$.
TLDR
Horrible gameplay full of major problems, invisible walls everywhere, map holes causing soft-locks, broken enemy AI. Gameplay is boring, uninteresting and repetitive. Gunplay is clunky and unsatisfying, with bullets lacking any impact or feedback. Movement feels slippery and unresponsive, with unnatural delays and jarring camera transitions. Accessibility is nonexistent, rough head bobbing that can't be turned off, causing motion sickness. Graphics are ugly and severely unoptimized. The bare minimum for a working game is missing, settings reset every time you launch the game. Don't listen to positive reviews, they are friends with the creators.

ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES
- There is a constant head bobbing while you move, and there is NO option to deactivate it. It wouldn't be that bad if the head bobbing wasn't horribly rough and prone to motion sickness. - Get blasted by excessively loud sound effects when you open the game. - Volume mixing of different sound sources is very bad. You can barely hear the cinematic, while you get blasted in the main menu. Some sound effects are excessively loud compare to other sound effects. - The settings do NOT save when you exit the game, meaning you need to remake them every time you launch the game. It also means that you get blasted with very loud noise every time you launch the game. - In the settings menu, you can't tell if the ON/OFF options are in the ON or OFF state. Clicking on the word ON to make sure it is activated doesn't solve the issue, as it just toggle between ON and OFF no matter what word you click. - In the settings menu, lowering the volume settings to 5% only make the sound half as loud. - The game is shockingly unoptimized and lacks basic optimization features and settings. The quality setting seems to only reduce texture resolution, but that's it. The game visuals are horrible by default anyway.
CHARACTER MOVEMENT AND CONTROL ISSUES
- The character moves like it was on ice, while actually being on grass/dirt (high deceleration time). Feels very unnatural, janky, and the opposite of snappy. - When you change direction, there is a very annoying and unnatural delay. - Character momentum is locked in 8 directions (forward, backward, left, right, diagonal) and the transition between directions is delayed and confusing. - When you aim, the camera zooms in, but there is no zoom transition, the camera just teleports closer (or the FOV is reduced instantaneously). - Character momentum is camera based instead of character based, meaning that can you transform your forward momentum in side momentum by rotating the camera instantaneously (keep in mind that you are basically moving on ice). As opposed to that, when you try to change direction using the keyboard, there is a very long delay, and it feels very janky and inconsistent. - While walking and running animations are passable, but transitions between them are jarring and lack fluidity - The default X and Y sensitivities are too high, making aiming and movement feel erratic. Even when adjusted, the controls remain unresponsive and imprecise (similar to the volume setting problem).
GAMEPLAY ISSUES
- Gunplay is abysmal, as bullets feel completely weightless and lack any sense of impact. Shooting robots and animals provides no feedback, making combat utterly unsatisfying. Enemies don't react realistically to being hit, making it feel like you're shooting at mannequins. - The game’s loot system is lazy and immersion-breaking. For example, looting dead animals inexplicably gives you items like laser rifles and ores. - The game is littered with invisible walls that make exploration feel restrictive and cheap. Instead of designing natural boundaries, the game relies on this lazy approach to block player progression. - Falling into one of the many map holes leaves you stuck indefinitely, forcing a complete restart of the game. - Tedious and uninspired resource gathering. "Mining" is nothing more than picking up ores scattered around. There is no actual mining mechanic—just walking around collecting items like iron ore, which becomes monotonous almost immediately. - The enemies are some of the worst AI implementations possible. For instance, enemies often get stuck on terrain or fail to react to the player’s presence entirely. Combat against them feels dull and broken. - Animations throughout the game are poorly executed. - The user interface is clunky and unintuitive, making simple actions like navigation and understanding the game’s mechanics unnecessarily difficult. - Any progress made in the world is lost if you die or get soft-locked, which actively punishes players for exploring or taking risks, as you can only save your progress inside the spaceship.
This was a negative review with 1.8 hours playtime, I refunded. I was later given the product free to review it further. Since it's a small 2 man dev team, and there is a lot of love and work put into the game- and it does overall look good, I don't mind doing a thumbs up, but I'll leave honest feedback below. Overall review: Can't recommend it yet, unless you love exploring and puzzles. Might when it has updates. I think combat needs more. Personal review: Not for me. I'm not big on exploring and puzzles. Positives: Pretty solid graphics on the world, and seems to be plenty of biome types to explore. Ship is decent and there's a lot to craft. Lots of loot, if you like that. Puzzle games, if you like those. Almost seems like anti-robot captchas. Pretty cheap No real bugs I've seen Lots of perks/stats to manage, which can make many mechanics easier or have robots do them. Crafting system has ore 2x, 4x, and 8x Different ammo types require different materials, so once you have multiple gun types, you have options Explosive barrels, but I think they just stun Shields! Health also regens naturally Headshots are in fact criticals Notes: It seems like it takes more than 2 hours to get far enough to enjoy any real content. That said, there are many hours of content, but a lot of it is long gameplay loops of combat/loot/island/ship. Cons: Combat currently dull (I'm told this is development focus) - No melee option, if you run out of ammo - No stealth options, and some enemies seem to follow you literally until you die or leave the island - When the robots lose you, or you die, they seem to stay where they are- I.E. camping your corpse when you go to get your items back. - I haven't seen any grenades yet for groups - Limited control over difficulty of islands. Some quests just require a hard island, and the quest is killing. Enemy AI is lackluster, leading to above (In dev) Currently you cannot return to the same island if you leave to get ammo. Lots of holding E (I'm told this will be changed) - 5 sec on plants - 2-3 sec to loot - 3 sec to open inventories in ship Story could be more immersive with more lines (In dev) First island is kind of a pain, bit large and I wasn't expecting to explore the whole thing for a quest (Being changed) Suit replicator sucks, half efficiency of initial ship, so you want to do all crafting in the ship. You can use health packs at full health, for some reason, it basically just voids them. Thanks. I wasted 1 thinking it meant open inventory. Wasted 2 trying to regen what turned out to be my shield. Remaining 2-3 were useful, I guess. Currently no "Compare this item to equipped" popup No "Loot all items" from death chest "Loot all items" on regular chest might be slower than individually clicking Health doesn't regen on ship; I assume crafting doesn't happen on island It is very easy to leave the ship while overlooking that you don't have enough ammo, or the ammo is of the wrong type. Missing story context: After the iron collection in the first island, you repair the drop pod, and go back to your ship- which is flying, but has no power. How? Don't know. Why did I use a drop pod from my ship, if it's still flying and operational? "Because it lost power after the wormhole" How did I fall out of the drop pod when you're clearly strapped in? Don't know. Why did the drop pod crash? Don't know. Note: Devs are looking at adding more context/story. Gameplay loop: You warp to an island (It takes a long time, might be my laptop), you drop, you run around the island with a compass and try not to miss zones, try to get all the loot, and try to kill all the things. The world is pretty, but it can feel a bit repetitive because of the slow pacing of reaching new content. Screenshots on the store indicate there may be other biomes. After, you go back, and process a bunch of material. The crafting system is "deep", but everything I've done so far is just "Sit and wait five seconds for material to craft" and "Dump all raw ores in here to process while you do other things." Though, there really are no other things to do. Beginner annoyances: The first "datapack" I needed had 3 crabs on it, next to 3 dinos. I decide to shoot one with my starter pistol to see if I can beat them. The health didn't move that much. I am charged by 6 guys. I did some quick maths and decided I couldn't kill them faster than they were damaging me, so I ran a bit...Then ran back, grabbed the data pack while they caught up, then ran again. There's no max chase range, so I had to run to my drop pod and leave. That stopped them. I did not explore the rest of that island. I attacked a robot. A swarm of 30 robots proceeded to shoot at me with lasers. I am not immortal, so my health goes low, and I have to retreat. I am chased across the island by robots. Eventually, my shield regenerates, and I get to shoot them again- though not before adding 3 panthers and 3 dinos to the attack squad. I did manage to win. The entire combat system was me running until I regenerated shields, then turning around and shooting, then walking away while reloading, then shooting...then they catch up, and repeat. Also, you can only shoot in aim mode. That has its perks, but also if they're too close and I don't intentionally use my sight, I fail to shoot, which is bad. TL;DR Way too many instances of having to wait, and annoyances. Combat could use balancing, and some tweaks for user convenience in the inventory system would be great.
I don't feel there is anything new here. Gather resources, craft stuff, fight some completely brain dead A.I robot/android/animal life. (I especially liked the point when i looted the corpses of animals and got lasers and ore. WTF?). Visuals are OK, although animations are bliah. Sound is OK. There are some puzzles thrown in there (pretty simple stuff). Its UI is questionable, a better tutorial would had helped. It works as far as i can tell after an hour of play but it feels like a chore playing already, and boring. The worst attribute a game can have in my opinion is being boring. Mediocre at best although price wise, if you are into these sort of games, it might be..OK? Considering this is a full release i'm not sure that there are improvements coming. Maybe it becomes more engrossing later on but for me, if a game doesn't capture your attention after a few hours then its dead in the water.
Text to speech for intro cut scene. Fell off the edge of the map within two minutes of playing.
I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a relaxed, Looter-Shooter with mild resource gathering and crafting potential. I've been playing on normal difficulty and the combat aspect can be challenging depending on how you approach it but I have found it to be quite enjoyable. The RPG portion of the character build and customization has some depth to it and can easily affect how you approach the core game. Overall, I like it. There is some room for improvement, but considering this is the first game from a new, small indie dev, I think they did a great job. I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Played about 50 mins. its tedious I am bored. still looking for iron and no real explanation of the UI. Now I am in a maze and I just don't care. I rather wash my dishes. I see no reward in playing this game. Oh turn down the x y sensitivity.
A lot of QoL and polishing is needed. Quite lost at the start. Approached a base and suddenly an army of bots came out, AI was not impressive to say the least. Look all over the island and found ores but not the iron ore needed to progress further. The narrative is interesting. I think I will revisit this game in the future, but at the moment I cannot recommend.
Would recommend! Far Horizon is an independent game, with independent charm (some might say jank, I call it "feel") Created by a small development team, it offers an enjoyable experience of 3rd person gun combat, resource gathering, and light exploration that includes mission objectives and various puzzles. Players can use the collected resources to craft equipment and enhance the functionality of their base in between missions. The developers are highly engaged and accessible, over all I have found Far Horizon to be a fun and worthwhile addition to my library
nice game for starter early access. i played for 25 minutes and i feel impressed. keep doing work Devs!
Far Horizon Stands as a testament to the power of creative collaboration, birthed from the shared vision of two brothers who set out to turn their dream of game development into reality. It's got a jank, almost nostalgic feeling, of playing a game for the first time. To know two guys made this, one being the greatest skyrim mod creators of all time (hothtrooper44), leads you to believe that there will be more to come from these guys and this is just the first game. Visuals are great, game play loop is satisfying and in general I have enjoyed my time with it thus far. If anything support these guys for future development with more to come, look forward to future projects with them!
