It's hard to say if I recommend this game or if I don't. This game is not like the WWE games, which is a good thing, not everything should be the exact same. That being said, if I said this was probably the most unintuitive gameplay I've played, and I've played a lot of wrestling games of different kinds. This game is simulation based, not like how current day WWE games are, but rather your goal is to put on a good performance, not beat the other guy. This is alright, but not exactly ideal. You have no HUD to tell what's going on. You have to watch your health, breathing and spirit. The problem is that you have no clue what's being done, there's no HUD. I have no idea other than visual indicators that don't show up unless you're standing still. This is something I'd expect from an old wrestling game, and Smackdown Just Bring It is one of those old games that I love that didn't have a proper hud either. When things like that are something to be aware of and manage, you have to just assume and make sure what's going on. Performing moves is also annoying. I believe that what you have to do is time it correctly, but the annoying thing is that counters are automatically done. If you don't do it correctly, countered. Thing is, that messes things up even more because it's difficult to consistently do. I'm sure with time I could figure it out but I find wrestling games that are easy to pick up, play and understand is more important than doing all of that. It's a bit more complex than it needs to be. That being said, if you want to just simulate matches, this is a REALLY good way of doing so. Just let CPUs run the match and things will work out really well in your favor! It's actually fun to watch things go the way they do because you have a lot of customization. I think the customization can be confusing and a bit too much (as in there's so much redundant stuff to look at and you will spend probably a LONG time there) but it can very well worth the time. Sadly while creating wrestlers and moves are the best thing you got. You can't really customize arenas, wrestler voices, or do a lot of different match types. I find this one to be weird, you don't get a lot of choices for match types. You can modify rules to get something close but there is a lot of missing special matches. There's a boxing and MMA mode but I didn't really find them that engaging and for the boxing mode, you really need to make characters built for that which is annoying, especially since the way the game works, a LOT of moves make the opponent fall over which isn't how boxing works. I don't really care for barbed wire and landmines personally. Another thing I don't like is that I wish you could turn off blood or have no referees, you can kinda get away with it using invisible stuff or hiding all the sprites. I have nothing against blood in wrestling games, but usually unless I'm playing a story mode or if I'm in the mood for it, I keep it on. Usually, I prefer the blood to be off because personally I think blood are better for storytelling matches. However I REALLY wish blood was a toggle because everyone bleeds too much and way too easily, and to make matters worse, moves are set to cause blood no matter what, which is super weird when a wrestler starts bleeding early into the match. Also refs always bleed when they get knocked down which is not great. The game has a strong base, but relies heavily on customization, which is fine. I think I'm a bit hypocritical as I think there's too much and too little customizations in different areas. Here's where things get interesting though, the game REALLY improves with mods. The mods allows for more match types and features, I was also able to block blood from happening even on moves that ALWAYS causes blood to happen. I basically broke it but it works. Mods also allows for more unique arenas and even make up more matches. I found some pretty fun stuff in there, it's moreso made for those who really like the rough side of wrestling and having more control over things. It's really good, really easy to set up, and really opens up the game. I strongly encourage looking into it if you get the game, it basically opens up more opportunities than what the base game gives. One more final critique though, this game has way too much DLC. Get this game on sale, same with the DLC. Some of the stuff that's DLC is a really dumb choice. especially for a game that is usually at $30 for base stuff. You need the parts craft to really see what made the game good and use the workshop. Everything else is pretty much optional and the move craft is free. It's a bummer because it does not need all that pricing. I did get the entrance craft but it's silly how THAT is also paid. It's a basic part of the game, cmon. Looking back on what I said and how much time I've spent on it so far. If you only get the base game without the parts DLC and no modding, I wouldn't recommend it. If you include those two, you'll get so much more value on it. The game is on sale often, so if you want the game, wait for it and the DLC for a reduced price and get the modpack to really get the most out of this game. You will be customizing a lot, so enjoy the process!
Very fun & addicting. However, my biggest gripes with the game is the amount of DLC you have to buy just for the true experience is ridiculous. That being said, I love this game.
The Best wrestling game of all time period.
----------------------- Simply THE best wrestling game available on PC (excluding emulators or sims like TEW or PWS). I put hundreds of hours into the PS4 version before buying it on PC. Pros: - Fun arcade gameplay that’s easy to pick up - Huge variety of match types (including rare ones like Deathmatches) - 2016-2018 NJPW and Stardom roster plus original wrestlers - Career mode for Heavyweight and Junior divisions - General Manager mode (I didn’t play it much) - Extremely deep and detailed customization (wrestlers, entrances, rings, movesets, etc.) - Active and passionate Steam Workshop community - Local and online multiplayer - Ability to add your own music Cons: - NJPW and Stardom roster is dated - Many features locked behind DLCs - Much less fun without the DLCs - Career modes are too short - Ugly, dated and unpleasant interface - Menu music is always the same and gets irritating fast ---------------- In short, if you’re reading this, you’re probably a big wrestling fan (and maybe NJPW), so I highly recommend Fire Pro Wrestling with its DLCs (on sale) without hesitation! ----------------
It´s actually fun, kinda hard to learn how to play at least for me. Great community, fantastic creations in the workshop. It is a solid game if you like to sim and manage stuff, check the fire promoter mode :)
My favourite wrestling/boxing/MMA game. I never played any of the older games in the series. This is my first one and I got it because I was a huge wrestling fan in the 1980's. I just have a deep love for wrestling. This game is so awesome with all the customization options you can do in it, Not only is it a wresting game, but I can also make boxers and MMA fighters, I can even make the same characters do everything and have a fantasy league where all my guys wrestle, box and do MMA against each other. I also love how brutal this game can be. I can throw guys into barbed wire. That's so rad! I really love the graphics too, it really grew on me. Because I'm a huge wrestling and combat sports fan, I've also bought many of the other games on the market, like all the new 2kWWE games and I also bought UFC 6 on my PS5. At the time of this review, UFC 6 was released just a month ago and I've had it for a month. Fire Pro Wrestling World is better than UFC 6. I have a lot more fun doing MMA in Fire Pro Wrestling World than I do in a dedicated MMA game like UFC 6. I kind of don't think I need to buy anymore wrestling games, boxing games, or UFC games anymore. It's tempting because I love the sports and when a brand new game comes out it can be cool, but Fire Pro Wrestling is blowing them all away for me. I have to smack myself and tell me not to buy any other wrestling games because this is the one.
If you're not much for wrestling or combat sports, you probably won't get much out of this game. But if you are into those things, this game is a strange gem hidden in the rough. Not a fan or even slightly familiar with this game's mostly native Japanese roster? Look at the mod workshop and weep. Think of someone in combat sports. There's a mod for that. Think of a fighting move. There's a mod for that. Fighting game characters? Yep. Anime characters? Yep. I load up my game currently with over 4000 active mods, which is nothing when consider how small those file sizes are because of the game's low graphics. It even has a manager mode (as a cheap dlc, unfortunately) that I've sunk days into. You can still have all the chaos of one of those overpriced 2K titles while only sacrificing the realistic graphics for a more Super Nintendo/Sega Genesis-era appearance. Again, a personal preference, but I enjoy this just fine without all those modern bells and whistles as it allows me to load up all those mods. I have fun just watching the CPU play out matches depending on who's fighting. In my manager mode division, Dio Brando and Shawn Michaels currently sporting my Heavyweight Tag Team titles while Kenny Omega and Undertaker are still duking it out for The Singles Title. Also there's a visual novel-esque story mode with small fights in between that tell you the history of New Japan wrestling and some stuff for Stardom with DLC. Pure joy for a wrestling nerd. Definitely worth waiting on a sale for. Also, watch Stardom. It's so awesome and proves anime girls are real.
nope, thats not my kinda rastling
One of the best wrestling games ever made. Once you get over the learning curve you unlock a gold mine.
