STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

Fun game. It is more than a bit odd when I look back on it from a mechanical and technical perspective. No vertical camera movement. Its a Star Wars RPG built on the Aurora Engine that was used for Neverwinter Nights(and Witcher 1). It also uses a bastardization of the DND3E edition which leads to its own [b]balance[/b] issues. The game does a good job imo of throwing a bunch of different paths onto the player for the light and dark side(tho it is maybe too openly telegraphed). The Old Republic is a fun part of the setting being very detached from the modern day stuff. The reveal that the protagonist was the old main villain was a good twist and the story does use it well in the Light Side. If Revan(you) can be redeemed from the Dark Side who is to say that others cannot either. I imagine on the Dark Side the story shifts into one where the Dark Side can win over the Light through its insidious influence. Music is very forgettable. Other than a few lukewarm takes on classic Star Wars motifs I cannot think of anything notable. The game in its current state is more than a bit frustrating to get running in a stable manner but worth the effort. The game also has quite a robust modding community.

This is the greatest RPG of all. It has a well-paced, epic story with memorable characters. It is always keeping you engaged. Honestly... I don't know what happened. All the dialogue in this game just feels natural and real. I just sat down for nostalgia, and I was captivated again like when I was 15 years old. I didn't remember why I loved this game so much and how could I play it through multiple times. Now I know. I think I will complete it again now, 23 years later. You need some community mods to make this version work and look good thou. And to solve the UI doing funny things, you have to turn V-Sync on. I am a bit disturbed, that how can this great game be sold in this state on Steam. But I guess it can shake hands with Jade Empire, another timeless classic sharing the same fate. But if you get through the modding, this is a game, that is a must play. It defined RPGs forever.

KOTOR is a beautifull masterpiece that sadly isnt fixed for nowadays machines i tried everything to get it fullscreen and it crashed i had no resolution options tried a community patch and nothing work its sad since this game is so good
