Can get hooked for hours!

KOTOR is, without a doubt, an absolute masterpiece and easily one of the best Star Wars games ever created. The story, the characters, and the overall atmosphere are top-tier. However, time has not been kind to this release. On modern systems, it borders on unplayable right out of the box. You will constantly run into severe graphic glitches, terrible non-modern resolutions, frequent crashes to the desktop, and game-breaking bugs where your character gets completely frozen in place after combat. Having to spend hours on Google reading old forum posts and trying dozens of community fixes just to get it running worse than it did on a mid-range Windows XP machine back in the day is incredibly frustrating. I am giving this a positive recommendation because when the game actually works, it is phenomenal. But due to its age and awful technical state, I would honestly advise caution. Unless you are willing to spend serious time troubleshooting, you might want to skip this one.

Rating: Easily 10/10 In a media climate of hit or miss Star Wars media, and hit or miss CRPGS, Star Wars Knights of the old Republic Still easily holds up as one of the peaks of the CRPG genre. It's issues, especially with this version are age, and provided that you look up the issues on whatever search browsers you use its all easy fixes. It is obvious playing this alot of what would make the Mass Effect Trilogy such a fantastic series, and it defines on it's own. If splitting hairs, Taris is not well designed as an intro planet, a mistake repeated by Obsidian in Sith Lords, Manaan and Leviathan's pressure suit sequences are atrocious, mostly because the PC waddles about really slowly On this a shoutout to the Carth relationship, it working with what is the most Star Warsy twist since Empire strikes back arguably makes the narrative better, and while the romance wasn't nearly as in depth as say my beloved Garrus in ME2/3, it still struck to the overarching point that Kotors Narrative was trying to make. Overall Fantastic Game and easily one of my favourites customisation options make the Jedi Knight or Sith Lord Fantasy genuinely immersive in a way no other video game in the universe has, reccomeneded to anyone who likes CRPGs and has the patience to deal with the dated systems.

A true masterpiece, one of the greatest games of all time and I'm not exaggerating here. Of course, I'm biased as a massive Star Wars fan, I've been one ever since I was young and it's unlikely I'll ever stop. But Knights of the Old Republic is truly something else. The writing in this game is unbelievably good. Every single character has such a well thought out backstory and development, so too does the world. It really feels like everything is tied together so smoothly. The plot is just perfect as well. It's a relatively contained story but it works and there are many choices you make which do have an impact, making it an incredible RPG Don't really have much to comment on the combat, it's unforunately very dated but the good news is that it works and I don't really mind it. I would pay a lot for a remake of this game with updated gameplay but that's likely to never happen and I'm already grateful with what we got here Casey Hudson, Drew Karpyshyn and the rest of the team, well done. Man it's so sad to see how far BioWare has fallen...

Hands down the best SW game. Story is captivating, with one the greatest story developments and twists.
