KOTOR II took KOTOR I, added depression, philosophy, and better writing. Peak Star Wars. With a couple of mods, it's an absolute masterpiece.

Every computer I pay this on, it has issues. Either the screen is cut off, or the direction controls stop working after very engagement and the only way to make them work again is to save and reload the game. After. Every. Combat. Absolutely not, uninstalling.

still awesome to this day

This game is a classic. It does things in the Star Wars universe like KOTOR the first and SWTOR that seem so much more in line with the original movies than anything else that has come out before or since. The lore is deep and cool and interesting and well written. That said, this one definitely had some issues in development and from what I have read and watched from some og's from the title was released before they were finished and some things were cut. There are mods that put things back in but I have not tried them and can not speak to that besides saying some people really like them and a great deal of work and dedication went into the making of said mods. The gameplay is great, the fights are fun and although the role play and character development have been in my brain as a touchstone to compare other games of this type since the game came out. Surely games now are much more detailed and have more options and paths but this one really set the bar when it came out. Along with KOTOR the first these games were seminal in my development of game enjoyment and even with some of the issues this one had I still enjoy replaying it every once in a while. I dabble and get caught up in it every 2-3 years. The graphics are stunning for their time and the cutscenes, oh boy... The cutscenes. The legends of Revan from KOTOR the protagonist you play in this one are, to use the same word I just used... LEGENDS. The creators and writers took the force from a vague, kind of wishy washy childish hocus pocus spirituality to something significantly deeper and more thought out. I mean if you are a fan of Star Wars and the good and great stuff that people created from those first three films, Revan has to be on the list of characters that move you. Or not, that is not really up to me, but I know for me Revan's journey, story, powers, and development have made my imagination sing. And there are so many characters besides him that I will not spoil that I recall with fondness to this day. The music and sounds are the ones from Star Wars, using John Williams's amazing and unforgettable and tingle-inspiring orchestras. The blaster, ship, and other background noises and effects the original sounds and still hold up to this day. All that said, while not the masterpiece I believe KOTOR the first was, this one holds up to this day as one of the best Star Wars games in my library. This game has always been a nostalgic classic. I've played it since OG Xbox days back in the early 00's and it is always something that i can return to for nostalgia. Story 10/10. Gameplay 10/10.

Needs quite a few mods if you want it to be really enjoyable (most importantly TLSRCM) but it's well worth it. This game is just as good as the first. 11/10

While the first game is a well polished classic SW adventure, this game is more of a character-driven, reflective, and introspective sequel with some experimental storytelling. This creates an awesome contrast between both entries and this one definitely retroactively expands on 1 and makes it a deeper tale. The gameplay is mostly the same but there are additions that adds more build variety especially to the companions, which can be better molded than in the first game. Also, your ship's theme track is pure bliss...

As someone who played vanilla KOTOR 2 on xbox, i decided it was time to do a run with the restored content mod, and this GREATLY improves the game, could not go back to play without it. Even without the game still holds up, the dnd combat is perfect, the dialogue is the peak of star wars. 10/10
