This game is unfinished, poorly balanced, buggy, confusing, boring. The quadrant mechanic doesn't add anything to the game. Only makes it more complicated and confusing. You can't swap weapons between different quadrants, you can only replace them; but you'll continue to get upgrades for the weapons you replaced. Most weapons suck. You can unlock different ships but most of them are worse than the starter ship. And to top it all off, there's a gacha minigame for unlocking cards for your loadout. There are 345 cards, good luck grinding for the one you want. I played through the campaign trying out different weapons, reached the boss with a bad loadout and died. So I had to either retry the boss level until I beat it, or restart the whole campaign. After a few retries the boss bugged out and somehow died. I'm not playing this crap again.
Got it in Early Access and thought, this has potential. Final Release and not much has changed AT ALL. No card shop to make the card grind easier, the ships are unbalanced in a bad way and the "Need to have for a good start" cards aren't coming up thanks to the card deck system. Save your money, there are better games than this one.
Dang, people weren't kidding. This is actually bad. All around convoluted UI with little to no feedback, enemies that mostly just approach you, objectives that are an absolute slog, and items that still have placeholder text. You can do better than this.
Just getting around to reviewing this one. I wish I could give a Neutral review. Sci-Fi, space combat, Bullet Heaven/VS clone. I got this when it was still EA and completed it with 100% of all achievements 26/26 in 230 hours with no issues. No idea why there are so many recent negative reviews unless they massively changed things through updates after I had already finished the game. Lot's of people posting about unfinished skills, buggy mechanics or unfinished content. I didn't experience any of that when I played the game. Most of the people making those claims have less than an hour of playtime. So no idea. I will play the game again at some point soon and see what all the hubbub is about and update my review afterwards if necessary. As of right now I will give a thumbs up to this game. May change after replaying. For similar games and hidden gems check out and follow my curator pages!
I'm a little surprised so many of the other reviews are so negative. Is some stuff a little unfinished? Yeah. Could it use a bunch of polish? Sure. Did I still have plenty of fun for a while with what's there anyway despite that? Absolutely. I'd say my biggest problem is that some stuff just isn't really explained very well or sometimes at all, and it would benefit a lot from explaining that stuff better (like just get some loading screen tips and make them viewable on the main menu or something) and making more info on stuff more easily visbile while in game too. You can figure that stuff out pretty quickly through trial and error though, and then there are plenty of fun interactions to mess around with, kind of in the vein of something like Soulstone Survivors but in space. It's pretty satisfying finding combos that work well together and seeing how much you can break them. The main reason I stopped playing when I did wasn't because I wasn't having fun but because the build I was having the most fun with spawns so many projectiles that it not only kills bosses in seconds but also the entire Steam Deck in the process. If it ran a bit better I probably would've stuck with it a bit longer messing around with stuff. Either way I got a lot more out of it than I did with something like Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor and had a lot more fun in the process. There are definitely a bunch of other games in this genre that are more worth your time if you haven't played them yet, but there's some decent stuff in this one that could be pretty good if someone just took a little while to clean stuff up a bit and give it a little polish.
There was a point in early access where it was good. Then I come back after full release and it's way worse. It looks like they tried to revamp a bunch of stuff or add a bunch of content but gave up halfway through and just declared it done and released, and now it's a half-finished disaster.
Its as spicy as water. Do with that as you will.
3 of 10. I originally could not give a positive review to this game. I still cannot. The game has great ideas, fabulous implementation of those ideas, a solid base to work with, and it still, one year later, suffers from very little Developer updates and a lack of imagination by the Devs. What do I mean by lack of imagination? A. Enemies are bland: There's three basic enemy types - walk slowly in rando direction, follow pc, and follow pc but blow up when die. There's nothing projectile related, anything that lays eggs, a supporting alien type etc. Each battle is the same. B. Stop the dumb purple gas: the purple/fiery gas released by 50% of enemies in late game is about the only depth of strategy this game has. It would be nice to have a weapon/system that stops the gas/lessens it/ etc. C. No Crewing Systems - A game like this calls for having crew members that you could save/rescue/hire. Each member could specialize in adding stats to one particular system/weapon type. The crew could be flank specific or whole ship specific. D. No Ramming System - The enemy seems to think projectile weapons are for losers. Why do us as PCs have to think this way? It would not take much coding to inject armor values for specific flanks of the ship, making a forward ram at speed a legitimate strat in a game that has very little strat. E. Quest Rewards - Making tough secondary or tertiary quest rewards ("Save the besieged shuttle in 45s!") can add difficulty, depth, and story. The Devs choose to never do this. F. Some of the Weapons still have placeholder values and no description. This is a game in beta. It is a good proof of concept. But it has about 4 hours worth of play material in its current state. Worth $3 or less. 3 out of 10.
