About

Bob, weave, evade, and shoot through a space sector filled to the brim with enemies. The game is built with rushes and high-speed chases in mind, so make full use of your mobility and firepower.

Encounter hazardous scenarios as you warp around various space sectors. As a newly-listed Confiner, you are to keep the vast space safe and keep rising threats to a manageable level.

Choose from a variety of ships to pilot, each with its own stats, starting weapons and passive abilities. Upgrade its equipment, and create builds that suit your play style.

The enemy forces build up as time passes, increasing the Incursion Rate. As this value rises, new events and dangerous threats enter the fray. Keep this value down by destroying key enemy units to prevent yourself from getting overwhelmed.

Aside from the ship you control, you can summon your Support Craft into the field for extra firepower. Not only that, approach it to open up the Support Shop, where you upgrade your ship and use other support actions.

You get rewards after a game session, which you can spend unlocking new ships, or customizing your ships even further and making them stronger!
If anyone is wondering, this game does no do incremental leveling. It is instead farm points to reroll ships. Sometimes you get a small increase it's stats, sometimes its weapon/passive slots, most of the time it's garbage. There's only 1 map, like 5 ships but you might aswell toss out 3 of them since they just reroll slots to troll you. Game is godly repititive. With the reroll mechanic, there's no incentive to keep playing.

Earn in-game points and unlock machines, weapons, and so on. The gameplay is smooth and speedy. Early in the game, it seems something dull, more fun after several ten mins.
What if you took the best parts of rolling gacha, bullet heaven, and modular upgrading stats and mixed it with high speed twin stick shmup space games? If you're lucky you'll get something almost as good as this game. Why almost? Because as of this review I haven't even touched more than one game mode and I'm already telling you that this is a must buy. That it's this good and it's not finished is a very promising scenario. So long as the dev doesn't abandon this, this is gonna be one of the best in the genre. Works great on Steam Deck.
Considering it's still in early access, this game has a lot of potential. + Details on the ships. + Weapon/ship variety. Each ship plays differently. - Enemy scaling. Starts off challenging and becomes a bit too easy once you get more upgrades. (I had to hold of firing anything to get to 100% incursion). - Weapons/Passives with unique tags should've indicated which ships they're unique with. - Getting a stat to max doesn't remove the "stat up" upgrade from the upgrade pool, leading to multiple rerolls for upgrades.
Promising top-down shmup that reminds me a lot of Geometry Wars mixed with Vampire Survivors. Replayability shows promise but I feel like it's not there yet but can still hold my interest regardless. Lots of builds from shooting, ramming, standing still, or spamming abilities. I have yet to go through all the ships but I like Clusterforce mostly due to it's battering ram ability that also functions as a vacuum cannon and Mirage/Fortress for that lazy I-don't-want-to-move gameplays. Fully decked out ships near the end of the run does not guarantee victory as well, requiring some thinking and alertness on the player's side. Overall I'm looking forward to more stuff from this game.
playing the game for quite a while now (started with the demo released shortly before E.A. start) i still enjoy it as one of the shorttime games i play at the side / in short breaks as a full run takes just between 5,3 and 25 minutes (depending on mode and how well you do. in Survival the exit always pops up after 15 minutes with an extra boss spawning at roughly 20 min, in Fleetmode it is possible to kill the Endboss in its prephase at wave 10 instead 20 allowing you to speedrun that mode in a bit over 5 minutes if you are well upgraded) Contentwise the game currently offers the before mentioned 2 modes as well as 2 more that got added later : Survival - survive for 15 minutes against swarms of kamikaze drones with occasional spawning fighters, cruisers and carrier ships + a boss that spawns when the incursion meter reaches ~95%. This meter constantly rises which increases enemy powerlevels up takes a bump downwards when you quickly kill nondrone ships. Fleetmode - defeat 20 waves of a diverse array of fighter to carrier sized ships with currently 2 variants that are determined by your loadout at wave 10 resulting in 1 of 2 bosses and different ships in the second half of waves. Demolition - You warp in above some large spacestation and must destroy several corestructures at the edges to unshield the maincore while dealing with warping in enemy ships , turret, drone portals and e-war structures. Hyperspace Campaign - which has you warp/fight through random scenarios that are either similar to the other modes or new ones on a smaller scale (each mission usually takes only around 2 minutes or sometimes conclude instantly like offering a shop) and may introduce 2 more bossfights (random if they occur) one special rule for this mode is, that you use baseline ships without any of the metaprogression (you can gain the modules and upgrades to some degree through ingame means) except for special skins. There is also a alternate mode called overdrive that disables all misc events/choices and just sends you from one combat mission to another. 10 different ships that are unlocked through a sort of gacha mechanic where you spend a ressource you gain from playing (no realmoney options) explained further down. Each ship comes with a unique special tech and some ship specific weapon or passive upgrades. The comet (starter ship) for example fills its sp bar when it moves while it decreases when you stop moving, can activate it's sp tech to fly in a straight line while invunerable to ram through enemies (later upgrades allow maneuvering during dash) and has passives that become stronger while the sp bar is maxed out. The Arbalest on the other hand has a mode switch between a relatively fast flight mode with bad turning and a flak cannon that can switch to a sort of turret mode that only moves extremly slow but can turn around (and therefore aim) pretty much instantly with the flak cannon turning into a cannonball that sprays small projectiles on impact on bigger targets and at max upgrades pierces right through them. The SP only comes active after getting a ship specific passive item and recharges in flightmode while providing directional shields in cannonmode as well as lays out a field of explosions behind it when turning back to flightmode while still having sp. There are currently 26 different weapons (33 when counting ship exclusives) and 22 passives (35 when including ship exclusives) which mostly unlock by meeting certain conditions (like mini ingame achievements) that can be read about in the database menu. Each ship starts out with a specific loadout and amount of weapon/passive slots and gainst a ressource on each lvl up/picking up specific drops that can be spend at the support craft (1 of currently 4 ships you can call in on an increasing cooldown that gives some firesupport and allows docking to shop or 2 strikerpacks unlocked in the new hyperspace mode that permanently add some weapons to your ship and instead get a boost on cooldown with the call in support button which also enters the shop) to either buy new or upgrade existing weapons/passive slots, upgrade your SP-Tech as well as some passive bonus to stats (rarely showing up unless you have most of your stuff maxed) Each Weapon, Passive or SP Tech has 5 upgrade levels with each level giving a specific boost ranging from just a bit more damage/attackspeed over extra projectiles, weapon piercing to new effects like letting projectiles explode on contact, giving laserblades an overcharge timewindow where they temporary become bigger and more damaging , or mines becoming able to move and home in on closeby enemies. The before mentioned supportship shop always offers 5 items to buy/upgrade which rerolls after each purchase or can be manually rerolled by a third ressource that is dropping more frequently and also allows to buy 4 support ship/2 Strikerpack specific boosts that are always available, including repairing your hull, spending the ressource to reduce the supportcraft cooldown, or activating 2 support craft specific actions (usually having it stay for longer after leaving the shop and fire its big guns for firesupport) The "Gacha" Part: The between run progress in this game pretty much boils down to the so called Transportal, a Gacha mechanic where you spend Warpcores (rare ressource mostly gained from winning a mode bonus and only used in the Transportal) To roll one of 2 permanent banners , each standing for one wave of ships (the original 5 and the 5 that came with the pioneer upgrade) giving the option to make a single roll for 5 or an 8 roll for 40 warpcores. Each pull can either unlock a new ship of the chosen banner or one of 3 things for an already unlocked ship : a Skin (only recolor variants) a Module (each ship has 3 different module slots that can be used to customize ships in the transportal page, giving them some modifiers that usually come with an up and a downside like reducing your total damage by an additive 50% but giving every projectile weapon 2 extra projectiles.) Or a ship stat modifier that increases or decreases some stats of one of your ships (you can decide after the pull if you want to take it or not) which also includes weapon and passive slots allowing every ship to eventually max out at 5 of each slot. The max values of the passive stats gained here are ship specific (comet has higher max speed sledgehammer max hp and so on) The here mentioned possible negative modifiers only apply to single pulls and singlepulls have no other incentive besides allowing you to pull before reaching the 40 warpcores which sort of punishes impatient players, therefore: It is currently highly recommended to only do the 40 core multipulls !! With the addition of Demolition and Hyperspace mode there were added 2 new skins for every ship that both change the ships design and change something about their SP-Tech or exclusive gear (sometimes something big like allowing your other guns to shoot while charging the giant energyball with the prime clusterforce, or something rather minor like leaving a small damage over time cloud behind after teleporting with one of the mirage skins)
It's a nice game in the early stages that does exactly what it says it does. The variety is fine so far
Frantic combat with some interesting ship and weapon types. And multiple game modes.
Video: https://youtu.be/-g1bfXCl8SM Pretty fun Roguelike that has a campaign mode, and several "instant action" style modes. The campaign does mostly feel like a bunch of random waves with different objectives, but I found it pretty fun. Sometimes that little bit of a narrative to give you a reason to do what you're doing can make a huge difference. Graphically the game looks nice as well, with lots of cool ship designs and explosions as well as a nice view of space. Music and sound are also good, which makes the whole experience an enjoyable one. Tons of games to choose from in this genre, and PhaigeX is certainly a nice title to add to your library.
