Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is a remake done right! After the disaster that was the Secret of Mana remake, I am so delighted to see Square/Enix learned from their mistake with that game. Star Ocean The Second Story is a beloved game from my childhood. Playing it on the PlayStation back in 1999 (I'm that old) was an unforgettable experience for me. This remake preserves the charming 2D sprites, but places them in a beautiful 3D world! The voice dialogue is superb, and the character art is gorgeous! This game has some quality of life improvements over the original, namely fast travel (a life saver at times!), and some improved battle mechanics. You can level up your skills manually now with points rather than having to grind through it. All in all whether you're a Star Ocean veteran or a newcomer to the series, this is sure to delight if you're a JRPG fan!

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

An extremely good remake of the original! This game has it all: story, diverse and interesting characters, an awesome item creation system, tons of secrets (including a MASSIVE bonus dungeon and a hidden character), challenging bosses, arenas, cooking contests, a new fishing minigame, bunny races, so many optional skills it will blow your mind... I can't really think of anything this game doesn't have. They just don't make games like this anymore, the worst part is when the game finally ends. If you are looking for a good old school style RPG, look no further! Try the first Star Ocean game if you like this one too, though unfortunately you won't find it on Steam. That needs a good remaster like this. As for every Star Ocean game after this... Avoid them like the plague, they are all terrible.
I don't know what it is about Final Fantasy but I've never been able to finish, or really even start more than the first hour or two, despite how much I enjoy JRPGs. So far, Dragon Quest has been the only series that I'm able to play all the way through, something about the more charming setting and more straightforward combat just works for me. Well now I can happily say that Star Ocean also fills that JRPG niche for me. I had a great time with it, completed almost everything (besides catching a record size for EVERY fish I'm mean wtf??) and got overpowered as hell. Great times. I'm excited now to check out other entries in the Star Ocean games and see if they hold up as much as this one. 4/5 game 5 - Perfect 4.5 - Nearly flawless 4 - Well above average 3.5 - Above Average 3 - Average 2.5 - Not good or bad. Meh 2 - Dissapointing 1.5 - Bad 1 - Really Bad 0.5 - So bad it stays with you for days.
Started out trying to save the universe. Ended up a five-star chef, bestselling author, master alchemist, amateur composer, expert fisher and part-time blacksmith with a side hustle in pickpocketing and contraband. Accidentally pickpocketed my party member during leisure time in town. 10/10 would ignore the main quest to make more herbal tea again.

I had not played this game before and found it to be really fun. The story have its moments and chars are charming and unique. Im very keen the play the other games from this series :) Played on the Steam Deck.
Picked this game up on a whim and I'm absolutely loving it. Despite not knowing anything about the star ocean franchise this game was super easy to get into.
played this %98 on my steam deck and no problems ever occured and locked 60fps the whole time. the game is great and I enjoyed the story though they never do answer the questions you have from the very start of Claud's story and theres a loose end here and there, the game also felt a bit too easy at times but I think thats my play style and not the game itself too blame. overall love it and would recommend!!!!!
