Spirits of Mystery: The Dark Minotaur Collector's Edition

The Dark Minotaur is the third of this series to arrive on Steam, but it isn't clear where the game fits into the overall story. It feels similar to the "first" game (Amber Maiden). In any event, this is a solid, if older, HOPA game. There's lots to do, and the art is very nice, despite the lower resolution and lack of wide-screen (selecting wide screen simply adds a border to the game). There is no map, but for the most part this doesn't cause problems. Pros: - consistent world-building and appealing setting/story - the princess' journal notes and comments are entertaining as well as helpful - lots of HO scenes (both word lists and shapes/interactive) - a wide variety of puzzles, some challenging - voice acting is generally good, although limited - sound effects are good - bonus chapter - integrated Strategy Guide Cons: - older/dated look and feel - no map at all, and some backtracking required - music is repetitive, and the more "dramatic" parts are fine at first, but become an irritant [b]Overall:[/b] I enjoyed the game, despite its drawbacks. If you want a classic, older-style HOPA, this game (and the series as a whole) delivers. I recommend that you buy it on sale. There is a bundle for the Spirits of Mystery series.

I’m not sure if you are playing as the daughter of the previous heroine or not (mostly because I can’t see how the villain of the previous game would still be… about), but someone has broken into the Royal Menagerie, and stolen all of your magical pets. And you, being brave and perhaps a bit foolish, have decided to investigate yourself. Plot is engaging, HO scenes amusing, and the minigames challenging. Recommend buying in the bundle.

Its a very good hidden objects/point and click game. It's pretty short though, I completely finished it in 3 hours, and to be honest I probably would have refunded it if I'd gotten it in under 2. Still, I highly recommend giving it a go, even though it doesn't have very good replayablility it's still pretty entertaining and relaxing.

it's terrible. very hard to figure out what to do, there's no map to tell you where to find stuff. if you click a hint it doesn't tell you where to go, only that there's nothing to do in this room, but there can be like 20 different rooms. I'm only finishing the game cuz i'm too OCD to not. Grr.
