Game does not calculate the turn's predicted revenue correctly... Kinda important for a business game :/ Edit : Important to note, this is sometimes to the degree of hundreds of millions of dollars late game and includes everything from the prediction in the bottom (-34 + 298 does not equal -2) to the predicted profits from launching product
Short version + Gameplay - "Story" Long version (Very vague spoilers) The game itself is relatively solid in its gameplay. For the messaging however it's a very different story. Instead of letting you play the game and draw your own conclusions, the game uses an event system to force feed you the "correct" message (capitalism bad). You can play the game in the most "ethical" way ever, making sure to choose every choice where you put ethics before profit and you will still have the same story of some random former classmate hitting you up once you are the CEO of a multi-million corporation, pretty much uses you for your connections, casually asks for help in tens of millions of dollars and then at the end blames you for everything that's wrong in the world and "you lose a friend". I do not think the devs know what a friend is. A friend wouldn't guilt trip their better off "friends" into bankrolling their life and then sperging out at them for doing their job. I wouldn't even mind the anti-capitalist messaging as the game is about unregulated megacorporations exploiting the world population, but I did enjoy it much more without the spoonfed "story". Wanting to make the morally good choices, but lacking the correct resources to do so and coming across as an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monster or having to choose between the right thing or cutting corners to keep your balance in the green and keep your employees employed resonated much more than whatever that "story" was supposed to do. The whole game came so close to getting it's message across in just the gameplay which would have been brilliant, but then it has to stick in scripted stuff to make sure you "get it". All things considered though, the game has more than enough content to carry itself and the price tag is in proportion to that.
Initially very interesting, but quickly falls off. The gameplay becomes very repetitive, and it's pretty simple to pick the optimal choice in most situations. Unlocking new "tech" on the tech tree doesn't actually provide new gameplay most of the time, so it becomes incredibly tedious. The flavor text isn't enough to pick up the slack.
This game seemed like it would be something i'd be into but I was wrong. I was expecting hacking, espionage and intrigue in a cyberpunk setting, but it feels more like a marketing simulator or something. The basic premise also bugged me, I am selected by this all powerful group to discover immortality, and my first mission in the tutorial is about creating social media? what?! why? if i have an explosive implanted in my body that is going to explode if i fail to figure out immortality, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around creating facebook is going to be the last way I'd be wasting my time and limited resources!! especially since following their instructions right off the bat puts you in a position where you are losing money... I know I don't have much time spent in this, I didn't even get all the way through learning all the game mechanics, but I didn't even want to at this point, I was not having fun and it was going even deeper into marketing ♥♥♥♥
Tterrible design idea. Not for me.
Normally I wouldn't recommend, but I think if you can get it for a few dollars on sale it's worthwhile. Overall, a very interesting game concept that is technically well-implemented, but lacks a bit in the actual fun of the core gameplay loops. There are tons of options for manipulating governments, researching cyberpunk technology, controlling the media, etc., but a lot of what you are doing on each game turn is looking at marketing angles and deciding what products to launch in each country. The marketing angles aspect is an interesting mechanic, but having to do it repeatedly every turn as the primary way of making money grinds you down after a while and stopped being fun for me.
The game is not that balanced, you struggle even on "easy mode". Explanations are very lacking. First task I got was "Move convenience bar at 1 point". How to do it??? Which law or task would be reponsible for that? No answer, I would need to try all possible laws/ buttons to find how to do it or read some guides. That is not respecting my time.
I cannot get through the tutorial. Tried in September 2023 and again today. These morons have flashing rings around things where you need to click. Anyone with ADHD or epilepsy, stay away from this game! These idiots only needed to put a still, yellow halo to highlight what you need to find. Instead, they bludgeon you with flashing lights. Over a year later, still the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flashing lights. The usual losers will find this funny. Those who consider themselves soooo tolerant, but find the misery of others funny.
Repetitive and poorly balanced. Would have been a more fun game without the board and constant product relaunches. It feels like the dev tried to extend the playtime by making it arbitrarily more difficult.
