-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- English - Inglés: After two and a half hours with Underboard, I came to a pretty serious conclusion: this game had me arguing with a game board as if it were responsible for my terrible decisions. I went in thinking it was just another auto-battler where you place your units and watch them fight. Yeah... right. Twenty minutes later I was moving units one tile to the left, swapping items, completely reworking my strategy, and convincing myself, "Alright, this build is absolutely broken." Five minutes later, a boss politely reminded me that I'm nowhere near as smart as I thought I was. The best part is the sheer number of combinations. There's always a new character, trait, or item that makes you think, "Wait... this could be amazing." Or it blows up in the most embarrassing way possible. And that's exactly why it's so addictive. Every run feels different, and when a synergy finally comes together, your brain releases a completely irresponsible amount of dopamine. Does it have room for improvement? Absolutely. The amount of information can feel overwhelming at first, progression is a bit slow at times, and a little more variety in certain areas would be welcome. But honestly, none of that made me want to stop playing. If anything, it probably made me keep saying, "Just one more run." In short: Underboard is one of those games that makes you feel like a genius... until it reminds you the build was terrible from the start, and the real enemy was yourself. 8/10, with a bonus point for making me lose to my own decisions more often than to the monsters.
I see a lot of negative reviews for this game complaining about this game being so heavily RNG based... but like... isn't that what roguelikes are suppose to be though? You keep and keep playing until you get an insane build and you beat the entire game with? Hell I mean that is how I did it at first. Honestly believe me when I say it ignore the negative reviews this time. This game is a great roguelike and I love all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nods to Newgrounds and ♥♥♥♥. That my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ jam, I had a fun time with this game and if you love roguelikes I know definitely ya'll will enjoy it too.
I wish I could recommend it because it has a lot of heart, but so much of it is just too random. Sometimes you will get to a boss, and there is just nothing you can do to win because of the random power-ups the boss gets, or he gets one too many minions that are difficult to deal with, or whatever. It feels like you are really doing something when you are playing, but then you will get to a stage of the game where you just automatically lose and there is nothing you can do or could have done about it, making the whole thing feel like a waste of time.
Get into a bossfight with a ranged build, boss goes stealthed at half health long enough to wipe my entire team while being completely untargetable, lose to good game design
This game was already good on release and as they make new patches the game just keeps getting better and better, each patch fixes issues that most devs would overlook or just say get gud. Try the demo if you are unsure, I def recommend esp if you like autobattlers like TFT or super auto pets.
I love this game, played a lot on the demo. Chill way to spend some time especially if you like auto-battlers, music and theme are top tier.
Underboard more like Neverbored But seriously, this is a cool take on grid-based strategy. I'd recommend at least trying the demo, worth full price but sale is a steal.
Bought this game on a whim and I'm glad I did. This is essentially a roguelike tactics/auto-battler. You build up a team of characters, get spells, items, and traits. Each battle you layout your team dependent on the enemy setup and then start the fight. Your units fight automatically, but you can cast spells and also "command" some of them if you have the ability. The art style is great. A cartoony style, but with some pretty gnarly gore. There's also PIco from Newgrounds fame here, which is kind of what pulled me into begin with. My only small gripe with the game are that saves are only after you go through a portal AKA the start of each map. I feel there's no gameplay benefit to this, so hopefully this is something they can update in the future. Not a deal breaker by any means, just something to keep in mind. Overall, I can highly recommend this if you like tactics/auto-battler!
