About
Spellbearers is a top-down, 2D, twin-stick shooter mechanically inspired by the classic SNES game, “Super Smash TV.” Geared towards those looking for a game wrapped in nostalgia, it has a modern look and retro atmosphere, not unlike older “Legend of Zelda,” “Gauntlet,” and “Castlevania” games.

Casting powerful spells, battle against hordes of magical enemies to liberate the rulers of three kingdoms that have been overtaken by dark forces. With staff in hand, do you have what it takes to uphold the title of The Spellbearer?
Darkness sweeps over the mythical world of Spellbourne, out of which emerge beasts and monsters that were said to have long been banished. An evil force has brought them back and must be stopped. This darkness has invaded the three ruling kingdoms of Spellbourne, their rulers overtaken and transformed into hideous and destructive monsters. If there is to be any hope in defeating this evil, all three kingdoms must be saved by restoring the rulers back to their original forms.
Amid the ensuing chaos, Four legendary heroes arise to take up the call. Destined to forever shoulder the burdens of magic, they are known only as the Spellbearers.
Select your Spellbearer and fight against the hordes. You can join the cause alone or with a friend. Choose the Spellbearer that best represents your own soul.
Torch your enemies and stop them from progressing against you and those you protect. You wouldn't want to know the chaos that will commence if failure occurs. Precision and speed are key to success, but the freezing cold may determine the result. The icy terrain will be used against you by the enemy, therefore, you must find your own advantage points to proceed through the frozen dungeons.

Bring down the epitome of evil with your cunning and wits. Mistakes are unacceptable, and the enemy is pristine.
The enemy is strong, but each has its weaknesses. Abnormities and demonic abilities are against you. Can you survive long enough to expose it?
Take a friend on the adventure and work together to prevail against the dark creatures. But remember that your enemies will do whatever it takes to fulfill their objectives.
1-2 Players (Local Co-Op or Online with Remote Play Together): Grab a friend on this adventure and set off as the pair of Spellbearers that the world needs to save itself.
Numerous unique power-ups: Power up with energy grenades that bounce off walls, lightning blasts that unleash devastating chain damage, protective swords made of destructive light, and more.
Explosive visual effects and soundtrack: Enjoy the atmosphere created by power-ups that you select to use throughout your journey, as well as the full original Spellbearers soundtrack.
Action-oriented: The halls of the invaded kingdoms are packed with monsters that appear one after the other.

I picked this game up at an anime/video game con in my hometown, and it is a fun little game. The game seems to take inspiration from classic Zelda isometric gameplay. The graphics are very simple but that adds to the charm of the game. Level design is simple and gameplay is repetitive, but it is really fun. The game is a twin-stick shooter of sorts where you can pick up different spells to shoot at your enemies or protect you from them. I really enjoyed it even though it isn't a very long game. It was a solid experience. The one complaint I have is that it is really easy to die when you and 2-3 friends are spamming spells and the screen is just a lightshow. Some enemies leave behind poison or frost which insta-kills you resetting your speed and magic orb count. When that happens, it is really easy to continuously keep dying. All in all it is an 8/10 for me.
Spellbearers is really easy to pick up, especially for a casual gamer like myself. It being a multi-player game makes it even more enjoyable. The bosses are so creative, it's intriguing to find out who or what the next boss is going to be.
Fun game that reminds me of playing flash games back in the day. Good job devs
This game is so much fun, I just passed the first boss and oh my god, It was so intense but it was fun at the same time.
Spellbearers excels where it matters most: pure, skill-based fun. It’s an homage to the arcade era, polished with modern responsiveness and flair.
I usually don't do too many reviews that are serious but in this case I like this game. So how I got this game is interesting is because I met on of the co creators for this game and I tried the demo. The game felt like other rouge likes and rouge lites, games like binding of Isaac and games that have a type of shooting mechanics too like Smash TV. (At the con I went they had a huge emphases that it was inspired by Smash TV) I feel in love with the game once I tried the first level. The aesthetics for the game is really great, it has an anime aesthetic and I love anime so ofc I picked this up. The power ups are cool but I do wish there was more to it like upgrades but I am still barely scraping the game I give is 8.5/10 My only real complaint is the flame thrower and when playing with friends it is extremely chaotic due to how small the dungeons are but this comes from someone who doesn't play too much twin-stick shooters
