At the beginning, you assemble a party of three heroes. In your very first playthrough this is not possible because you start with only one hero unlocked, but you will unlock the rest with progress. Each hero belongs to a classic fantasy role such as barbarian, sorcerer, or warrior. All heroes have the same base statistics for attack power, attack speed, and movement speed. This means your choice of hero does not matter much in terms of raw performance. The only functional distinction is that melee units strike enemies in close range around themselves, while ranged units can attack from a distance. Every hero has a unique special attack, but you can only use the special ability of the hero you choose as your party leader. The controls are straightforward. The other heroes who are not the leader will automatically mimic the leader’s actions, moving and attacking whenever you do. There is only one attack button to press, so there is not much complexity in combat. While heroes walk at a slightly slow pace, you can use a run button that consumes stamina. Stamina runs out quickly, but it also recharges in a short time, so you can use it often. Obstacles create the most challenging situations. They require you to change between different formations, and there are three available: a triangle, a vertical line, and a horizontal line. Using the correct formation is important because if a hero collides with an obstacle in the wrong formation, they will be pushed to the bottom of the screen and removed from the party. In practice, each hero acts like an extra life. Unfortunately, there is no option to set a preferred formation, and each stage begins in a horizontal formation, which is the least useful when you have a full party. The game moves you along a series of stages in a fixed order. Your task is to get as far as you can and ideally beat the entire game. You begin each stage with maximum three heroes, but you can recruit more along the way. When you touch another hero, they immediately join your team. You can have multiple copies of the same hero type, but the team cannot be larger than five members. If you are already at the maximum size, rescuing another hero will instead award you points. Each stage scrolls forward automatically, similar to a side-scrolling shoot ’em up. You cannot control the movement of the stage itself. Your focus is on holding the attack button, defeating enemies, and avoiding obstacles. Stages are divided into three smaller sections. The first two play similarly, but the third ends with a boss fight. An important feature you will encounter in certain stages is the hero portal. These portals unlock new heroes, but the conditions for activating one depend on the type of your party leader. The portal clearly displays the required hero type, and this requirement remains the same for that particular level. However, you are unlikely to know this on your first attempt unless you happen to match it by chance. If your leader’s type matches the requirement, the portal will activate and the new hero will be unlocked. Once a hero is unlocked in this way, the process does not need to be repeated. The other path to new heroes are boss fights. But except for a hero the first time you beat them, boss battles are not that rewarding. They are difficult because of their complex attack patterns, which resemble bullet hell games. These patterns require precise dodging and are designed to make it hard to keep a full party intact. Fortunately, during boss fights, you can still find new heroes to recruit as well as power-ups that can help you recover from losses. One frustrating aspect of boss encounters is their unskippable intros. While these scenes are not particularly long, having to watch them every single time becomes tedious. The pacing also drags at the end of a stage, where you must click through multiple point screens, and at the start of the game, where several menus stand between you and beginning a new run. If you lose all your heroes, the game does not end immediately. You can retry the current stage as long as you have extra lives. At the end of each substage, you can earn a new life by scoring enough points. Points come from rescuing heroes, defeating enemies, and destroying obstacles. The point requirement is strict, so you must destroy almost every enemy and obstacle to gain the reward. Enemies drop coins that you can use for upgrades. Between runs, you can visit the tavern in the main menu to spend your earnings. The upgrade system is simple and offers permanent improvements such as higher damage, faster speed, and increased gold gain. You can also level up individual heroes, with each upgrade enhancing abilities related to their role. Melee fighters gain a wider attack range, while ranged heroes can unlock new attack patterns. The game is not very long, but you will probably need to invest in a few upgrades before you can complete the final stage. If you aim to unlock every achievement, you will need to make many runs.
Very Nice game. Best party is: Archer (leader) + robot + bard Very addicting Edit: works well in Steam Deck

《Legacy Of Evil》

I feel compelled to write a positive review a little early, as I feel confident I'll enjoy this one for several hours to come at a bare minimum and want to show support while they're a new release. Very delighted by this unique, action-packed little gem, and very much enjoying local co-op especially. There are not multiple difficulty levels by default that I can tell, and I haven't fully completed the base run yet, but it's a nice moderate challenge with room to master a few different mechanics/characters to keep it interesting, and with the significant roguelite perma-upgrades between runs i'm pleasantly surprised at its relative accessibility/replayability while still preserving a sense of challenge. This game does feel somewhat uniquely like its own thing, at least to me...I feel like saying it's just a SHMUP skinned as an ARPG might be technically accurate but is not quite doing the unique vibe justice; it really "feels" like a high-fantasy Action RPG and a SHMUP had a baby, even if a lot of that is just tweaking the shmup gameplay formula with melee attacks, and the slow-paced, ground-unit style maneuvering (with plenty of terrain to deal with). So, fantasy action shmup vibes with roguelite meta-progress plus some character unlocks, but arcade-style power-ups, destructive environments for points/gold, and mid-core "relatively slow" bullet hell combat. Melee and ranged character classes for your squad, easy sprint mechanic with generous cooldown, and powerful ult ability with a cooldown. Each stage is re-created with some variety not just each run but even when you restart it due to dying, which does a nice job of helping keep things fresh, though I can imagine getting a little sick of some of the (slightly) sloggy boss fights after several more runs, tho the perma-upgrades should help alleviate the pain there. Stacking combat power-ups and stacking your party to max size (3 apiece in co-op, I think 5 in single player) instead of party-wiping and having to build back up will give a tremendous advantage in boss fights and the like and adds a fun snowballing payout for having a good run in the earlier stages. If you meet a score threshold each stage you also get a 1-up. The game is a blast in co-op btw and a dead player can always steal a party member from the other to respawn in real time which works well, and "rescuable party members" spawn along with power-ups at again a relatively forgiving "medium difficulty" sort of pace. The gameplay is fun, well-paced, fair. Medium-slow but not super slow. Yes it's a roguelite so you die and start over, but the shop upgrades are chunky and impactful. The difficulty curve between stages and zones is good, enemy variety not mind-blowing but good, handles pretty well, etc. Is it polished to perfection? No, but $10 base price feels modest/more than fair to me and the 30% off right now even better. If it looks like the kinda thing that might be up your alley and you appreciate novel stabs at classic formulas, I'd say give it a shot! The music is hit and miss but some good tunes, and I've found the pixel art delightful throughout.
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. 4.
Please add a difficulty option. Its a damn good game, it really is. I just wish you took the difficulty down one notch.
Loving this so far! The party system is unique and fun. All this game needs is online multiplayer!
